?Chapter 108:
“I returned to fetch my wife,” retorted Kaiden.
But Ellie was skeptical.
She shot him a doubtful nce, unconvinced by his pretext.
In their sham marriage, trust was a luxury, and she suspected his true motive was to keep her away from Erick.
“Well, I intended to have a constructive conversation with Demi,” Ellie exined, redirecting the conversation and justifying her actions. “However, she was uncooperative, so I had to resort to that.”
Kaiden remembered Ellie’s impressive martial arts disy on their wedding night. Demi always ended up overpowered in Ellie’s presence. Yet now, Ellie portrayed herself as having no other option, sounding almost wronged.
She was such a mischievous liar, wasn’t she?
After giving her exnation, Ellie noticed Kaiden’sck of response. She looked up, only to see him resting with closed eyes, evidently uninterested in further discussion. She exhaled in relief.
Being caught in a conflict was certainly not ideal. Especially because Ellie had consistently cultivated an image of gentleness and decorum, her fa?ade effectively disarming those in her presence.
As they approached a junction, Ellie suggested, “I need to visit the hospital. If it’s out of your way, you can drop me off here.” She was prepared to hail a taxi.
Bruce, who was driving the car, instantly sensed the tension emanating from Kaiden in the back seat.
Kaiden seemed upset.
Yet, when Bruce nced over, Kaiden’s face was impassive, betraying none of the mounting pressure.
“Head to the hospital,” Kaiden instructed.

“Right away,” Bruce acknowledged.
Ellie stole a nce at Kaiden, puzzled.
His amodating demeanor tonight was… strange.
He even offered her a ride to the hospital.
Was he happy that he spent billions?
Kaiden’s luxurious Maybach halted at the entrance of the hospital’s inpatient department.
Ellie quickly thanked Kaiden and hurried into the building.
Bruce nced at Kaiden, who had just lit a cigar. The smoke framed Kaiden’s striking features, his deep eyes fixated on the hospital’s entrance, as though he could see Ellie through the walls.
Noticing Kaiden’s reluctance to leave, Bruce inquired, “Should we wait for Mrs. Thorpe, Mr. Thorpe?”
Kaiden shifted his focus to Bruce. “How long do you think she’ll take?”
