Chapter 98

    ?Chapter 98:

Addressing Demi, Ellie inquired, “You didn’t visit the hospital? Aren’t you aware your grandmother’s ill?”

“That’s my grandmother, not yours. I’m well aware of her condition,” Demi shot back.

The surrounding crowd overheard and began to murmur.

For a brief moment, all eyes turned to Ellie.

There were murmurs and vicious res. Since Ellie wasn’t a true Gordon, her reference to Demi’s grandmother as her own seemed out of ce, causing a stir among the onlookers.

Ellie understood the underlying message in Demi’s words: despite being aware of her grandmother’s illness, Demi had no intention of visiting the hospital.

Ellie’s anger red upon seeing Demi’s carefree smile, especially recalling Erick’s mention of Cecelia’s ident and suspecting Demi’s involvement.

Just as Ellie’s temper threatened to erupt, a voice called out to her.

    “Ellie.”

Kaiden’s voice, low and cool, reeled her back from the brink.

Ellie lowered her gaze, reigning in her emotions, and took a seat beside Kaiden. “Sorry, I shouldn’t let personal feelings intrude here,” she whispered, her apologyced with apparent anger.

The other guests had taken note of the interaction between Ellie and Demi.

Demi seemed intent on making a spectacle, hoping to cement Ellie’s image as an impostor in the Gordon family—a scandal for all to remember.

However, the crowd’s whispers didn’t favor Demi.

“Look at Demi’s dress, it’s the same color as Ellie’s. However, Ellie’s elegance easily outshines her.”

“Ha, look at that! Even though their dresses are the same color, Demi somehow looks less refined next to Ellie.”

“Speaking of grace and poise, Ellie has always been unmatched, even among celebrities at Parasti’s g. Demi just doesn’t measure up to her.”

“We should go! It’s better if we keep our distance from Ellie. Standing next to her only invites unfavorableparisons.”

Demi, boiling with rage yet powerless to express it, seethed inwardly. She couldn’t fathom why the crowd favored Ellie, seeing her as nothing more than a bastard from parents who didn’t want her.

In Demi’s eyes, Ellie’s refined manners were mere pretenses, usurped from a life she didn’t deserve.

She was resolute in her determination to humiliate Ellie, no matter the cost.

Meanwhile, Kaiden, casually supporting his chin with his hand, exuded an effortless mix ofziness and nobility.

He suddenly asked teasingly, “Mrs. Thorpe, have you figured out how you’d teach that woman a lesson?”
