?Chapter 42:
After all, it was just condoms, items she was familiar with.
And sharing a bed didn’t necessarily mean anything more.
With these thoughts, Ellie, now standing, cautiously retreated a step.
“What’s on your mind? Just say it,” Kaiden urged. He seemed in high spirits, evidently not nning to let Ellie off the hook.
His words sounded encouraging, yet there was an undercurrent of potential danger within them.
“You… Fine! Sleep on the bed! It’s yours!” Ellie decided, lying down on the nearby double sofa. Her demeanor suggested she was done dealing with him. “You have the bed to yourself, and I’ll take mine.”
Their wedding night had already shown her that she couldn’t outmatch him.
It was better to cede the bed to him.
Kaiden, lowering his gaze, let out a soft chuckle, audible only to himself.
In a room with a stranger, Ellie found sleep elusive.
Her mind wandered to what Erick had said earlier about Kaiden and Leo.
What exactly had happened back then?
“Ellie,” Kaiden’s voice snapped her back to reality. “If you keep staring at me, I might just pluck out your eyes.”
Realizing she had been gazing at Kaiden for quite a while, Ellie looked away, inwardly chiding his foul mood, and shut her eyes to try to sleep.
Kaiden, initially in the bed’s center, had shifted to its left side. The spot was once upied by Ellie, leaving behind her faint, sweet scent.
It was a subtle yet indelible fragrance, piercing the air, seeping into his senses.
This delicate aroma stirred a sense of restlessness in Kaiden, prompting his move to the left, slightly irked.
Having finished his emails, Kaiden nced up to see Ellie curled up on the sofa, sound asleep.

How could she rest so easily with him in the room?
Was it overconfidence or sheer trust?
Little did Kaiden know, Ellie firmly believed he had no interest in her.
Switching off the lights, he remembered Ellie’s presence and turned the floormp back on.
He did this not out of concern that she might stumble in the dark, but rather to avoid being disturbed by her potential fear of darkness.
Meanwhile, Erick escorted Demi to his room.
There, Demi embraced and kissed him passionately.
“Demi, I thought you were sick? Should I call a doctor?”
“Only you can heal me!”
Erick paused, then responded eagerly to her kiss.
Clothes littered the room as their passionate voices filled the air.
Exhausted, Demiy on the bed afterward as Erick yfully caressed her.
“Quite eager tonight, aren’t you?” Erick was attentive to Demi’s wellbeing, so he couldn’t help but ask, “Are you sure you don’t need a doctor?”
