    Kaiden, seated in his wheelchair, responded nonchntly, “Disabled, it’s hard to move.”


    Kaiden’s disability was a bulletproof excuse, silencing any criticism about theirte arrival.


    Ellie struggled to suppress augh.


    Erick’s gaze lingered on Ellie, clearly in awe.


    It was his first time seeing her in a traditional dress. Her graceful demeanor, paired with her striking features, was breathtaking.


    “It’s okay, Dad. Kaiden has always been like this, and we’ve all learned to ept it,” said a well-dressed middle-aged man, offering a cup of coffee to Jorge. He smiled at Kaiden, his tone hinting at familiarity. “Even I, his eldest brother, am frequently met with his cold shoulder.”


    This was Talon Thorpe, Erick’s father. Born to Jorge and his first love, he had always been Jorge’s favorite.


    Kaiden shot Talon a frosty look. Even seated, his presence wasmanding. “Mom gave me one brother, and that isn’t you.” To Kaiden, Talon hadn’t earned the right to be called his brother.


    Tension soon filled the air.


    Brisa had two sons: Kaiden and thete Leo Thorpe.


    Jorge also had Talon and a daughter from another rtionship, but the daughter, now married, rarely visited.


    “You…” Erick started to speak up in defense of his father, but an elegant middle-aged woman intervened, urging caution.


    Genesis Thorpe, Erick’s mother, challenged Kaiden. “Are you questioning Jorge’s lineage or looking down on him because of his past? And if we’re scrutinizing past actions, perhaps you should start with your guest. Should she even be here?”


    Ellie now understood Kaiden’s earlier disdain. Someone was always ready to cause trouble, making whether they were polite irrelevant. Various looks were cast towards Ellie, some mocking, some curious, some disdainful, and some outright ridiculing.


    “Ellie.” Demi, present as Erick’s girlfriend, stood beside Genesis, watching the scene unfold.

    Demi offered a small smile, choosing to remain silent.

    Murmurs ofughter rippled through the crowd.


    Ellie, standing by Kaiden’s side as his wife, knew that any insult to her was an insult to him. She was well aware that she and Kaiden were in this together now.


    She rested a hand on Kaiden’s wheelchair, her smile steady. “I am Mrs. Thorpe now. The heiress title of the Gordon family is merely an essory, one I can easily do without.” Her statement was irrefutable.


    The prestige of the Thorpe family far outstripped that of the Gordons. The significance of being Mrs. Thorpe overshadowed her previous status.
