Chapter 683 You’ve Lost Weight

Tony came back in less than two minutes.

“Mr. Graves’s assistant said Ms. Winsor is free tomorrow. That works.”

That actually caught Dawn off guard.

If Leon were really forcing Anna, he would’ve tried everything to stop them from meeting. So what was going on?

Dawn raised her head, thinking. “Okay. Go handle your stuff.”

The next day, after settling Dulce, she drove to the Graves Residence.

There was a guard at the gate, along with a huge ck dog.

Dawn wasn’t a fan of pets. This one looked especially scary–sleek fur, drool hanging from its mouth.

The guard went inside to report. Dawn got out and leaned against the gate.

Not long after, Anna came out wearing a simple T–shirt and jeans.

    +2

She looked like she’d lost a lot of weight. Already thin, she now seemed even more fragile. As she jogged over, the wind brus her hair aside, showing her sharp corbones and jawline.

Dawn’s eyes stung. She opened her arms and hugged Anna.

    “Dawn!”

Anna hugged Dawn tightly, her voice shaking. “I missed you so much.”

“Me too.” Dawn rubbed Anna’s hair, then pulled back and studied her face. Her nose burned. “How did you get this then? Have not been eating properly?”

Anna nced back inside. “Let’s talk in the car.”

Dawn drove while Anna sat in the passenger seat.

“Other people try to lose weight and fail. I’ve just been eating really healthytely, so I guess i identally got ther

    Anna smiled as she answered.

Dawn turned the steering wheel and drove out of the neighborhood

Once they were farther away, she checked the rearview mirror Only after making sure no one

    “Anna…”

She took a breath, suddenly unsure what to say

Anna turned to her. “Dawn, you’ve lost weight too”

She stretched her arms and said gently, “Are you going to ask if I me you for letting Leon Lake me?

    “I’m sorry, Anna. I—”

    “Dawn, don’t apologize.”

Anna smiled. “You’ve already done so much for me. Honestly, I’m the one who’s caused you trouble.”

She had finally realized it. Leon’s obsession needed something totch onto. Without that, it would never stop.

Since the ending was already decided, all her struggling meant nothing.

    “I’m fine like this… Really.”

    +20 Free (

Anna shrugged. “I figured out Leon isn’t that hard to deal with. If you change your perspective, you’ll see he’s basically a kid. M to him, I’m just a toy. When he gets bored, he’ll throw me away.”

Dawn gripped the Steering wheel tighter, her throat tightening.

    “Anna, don’t force yourself.”

    “I’m not.”

Anna looked out the window, her eyes calm, like she’d seen through everything. “I thought it through. Being with him is better t my dad putting a price on me and selling me to some bald old guy. As long as I’m with Leon, my dad doesn’t dare touch me.”

Dawn didn’t know what to say, because Anna wasn’t wrong.

As a friend, she could help Anna leave Leon, but she couldn’t interfere with her family.

They ended up at the mall.

Dawn had chosen a restaurant near the edge. She nned to park right at the entrance, but Anna checked the time. “It’s still earl Let’s walk around a bit. I haven’t gone window–shopping in ages.”

    “Alright,”

Dawn turned the wheel and parked elsewhere.

She thought Anna just wanted to stroll, but after wandering around, Anna actualy actually bought quite a few things, from just day to bags.

She even gave Dawn two gifts.

She didn’t have a phone, but she didn’t n to get one.

When Dawn asked why, Anna answered evenly. “He won’t let me talk to people freely. At least not right now. He thinks I’m kaya. lying to him.”

If buying a phone meant another argument, then why bother?

“I don’t really need a phone anyway. If you want to reach me, contact his assistant”

Seeing how rxed Anna looked, Dawn couldn’t tell if that was good or bad.

She hooked her arm around Anna’s. “Just remember I’m always here. If he bullies you, tell me first. F’ll take you away”

    “Rx!”

Anna made a silly face at her, finally showing a bit of her old self.

They walked around the mall again. By the time they sat down to eat, it was already dark. During that time, Dawn got two calls from Leon’s assistant. The questions were simple–when they’d be done, what time they’d head back, and whether they needed a

    ride.

Anna stayed cool. “Dawn, if it’s annoying, just turn off your phone.”

The person on the other end heard that and hung up right away.

Dawn looked at her phone, then at Anna.

It felt like Ann had found a roundabout way to deal with Leon.

    She se

own and carefully asked, “If I ask you to stay at my ce for a couple of days, would Leon agree?”
