Chapter 3
The next morning, the housekeeper brought Kate a formal dress, saying Derek had arranged a ce for their wedding anniversary
dinner that night.
Kate showed up as expected.
It was the revolving restaurant she’d inentioned wanting to visit so many times.
She immediately spotted Ashley sitting next to Derek and frowned. “This is our wedding anniversary. What’s she doing here?”
Derek’s expression was indifferent. “Two people eating, three people eating makes no difference. More people, more fun.”
More fun, right.
Kateughed mockingly. “Don’t you think three people makes things a little crowded?”
Before she’d even finished speaking, Derek’s face darkened, like she was being unreasonable again.
Ashley jumped up. “Forget it, Kate doesn’t want me here. I’m leaving!”
She rushed out, and Derek hurried after her.
Kate stared at their retreating figures for who knows how long, tears drying on her face. She picked up Derek’s forgotten phone and
headed outside.
Walking past the restroom, she heard quiet sounds from inside.
She looked and saw Derek had lifted Ashley onto the sink counter, their lower bodies pressed tightly together.
“Why’d you just run off like that? Today’s our anniversary – I specially picked this ce for you.” Derek was gently kissing the woman’s lips as he spoke.
Ashley smiled shyly, then sighed. “I don’t want to upset your wife.”
“You’re my legal wife.”
His movements became more intense, and Ashley couldn’t help but let out a soft moan.
Derek asked teasingly, “Getting turned on so fast today?”
Ashley’s face flushed crimson as her legs tightened around his waist even more…
Kate didn’t know how she managed to leave.
Her heart was contracting painfully – she was almost numb from the pain.
In all their years of marriage, this was the first time Derek had remembered their wedding anniversary.
Turns out it was for Ashley.
Years ago on this day, he and Ashley had gotten their marriage license and be legal husband and wife.
And she was just an outsider who’d stolen someone else’s nest.

She ate the cold food in small bites. After what felt like forever, Derek finally came back.
He said somewhat apologetically, “Sorry, I got a call and it ran long…”
He hadn’t even brought his phone – how could he take a call?
Kate smiled bitterly to herself but didn’t bother exposing his lie anymore. Whatever, it didn’t matter.
Ashley came back a littleter, her cheeks still flushed. That’s when Derek signaled for the evening’s entertainment to begin.
The y depicted a man and woman who’d known each other since childhood and gradually fell in love.
Derek turned to Kate with a smile. “Kate, it doesn’t matter that you lost your memory. These are all our past experiences together. I’ll help you remember them one by one.”
Kate smiled coldly.
But memories that never belonged to her in the first ce – no matter how hard these people performed, how could she possibly
remember?
Across from her, Ashley was already crying uncontrobly.

Derek’s gaze gradually shifted to Ashley, his eyes overflowing with passionate feelings.
Kate felt a sharp stab in her heart, bitterness welling up until she could barely breathe.
Their past together must have been so happy.
That’s why they both remembered and cherished it even now.
She closed her eyes, tears streaming down her face.
When she came back to herself, Derek was looking at her with a smile. “What’s wrong? Did you remember? You look so moved.”
“Yeah, I remembered.”
Kate didn’t want to watch Ashley unt their deep love in front of her anymore, so she deliberately said, “Derek, I’m so surprised today. Thank you for going to all this trouble for me. I love it.”
Then she gave Derek a gentle kiss on the cheek.
Derek stiffened but didn’t pull away.
A sh of jealous hatred quickly crossed Ashley’s eyes.
Kate saw her lips moving and instinctively felt something was wrong. Before she could react, Ashley knocked over the candbra beside her.
A loud crash.
In that critical moment, Derek quickly grabbed Ashley and pulled her to safety.
Kate watched helplessly as the candbra toppled toward her.

In the moment before she lost consciousness, she saw Ashley hiding in Derek’s armns.
Once again mouthing the words “Let’s see who he’ll save.”
