Cheating 100

    Chapter 7

Mr. Montgomery froze in ce, thest trace of color draining from his face.

He left Shaw Tower lookingpletely lost.

The umted anger and fear finally found their only outlet.

He rushed home to find an equally anxious Ryder.

    “Look what you’ve done!”

He exploded in rage, no longer able to maintain his dignity as head of the family.

“For a stupid woman, it wasn’t enough to destroy yourself–you had to drag the entire Montgomery family down with you!”

Ryder was intimidated by his father’s fury, his face pale as he tried to defend himself.

“Dad… you supported me before. You said if we won…”

Mr. Montgomery pointed at his nose and cursed.

“Did you think Zara would keep giving in just because she loved you? Did you think faking a suicide attempt and pretending to have depression would force her to submit? Well, now she’s ying for real, and the Montgomery family is finished. Are you satisfied? How much is all that self–important love worth now?”

Ryder trembled under the verbal assault, looking desperately to Ivy for support.

Ivy’s eyes darted around, instinctively avoiding his gaze as she said quietly.

“Uncle, please don’t get upset. The important thing now is to figure out how to…”

“Figure out how to what! What options do we have left!”

Mr. Montgomery turned his anger on her.

“If you hadn’t egged Ryder on, how would we have gotten to this point? Get out! Get out of the Montgomery house!”

Ivy’s face went pale, but she didn’t dare argue back, just stood there awkwardly.

Ryder watched this scene–his father’s unprecedented viciousness, Ivy’s retreat–and felt his heart sink into ice.

Those business partners and smallpanies that had been wavering, seeing the situation, quickly distanced themselves.

Some even took the opportunity to kick them while they were down, grabbing market share the Montgomery family had lost.

The Montgomery family’s funding chainpletely copsed.

Their vastmercial empire crumbled at a visible pace.

    Ryder’s world copsed with it.

The luxury apartment, designer purchases, fortable lifestyle–all of it became history.

He had to move out, sell his sports car and watches, barely scraping by.

What was even harder to bear was how people looked at him now–the former envy and ttery reced by mockery and

    pity.

    Ivy’s situation was worse.

Academic circles and research institutes valued reputation above all.

Everything she’d gained through Montgomery resources and connections turned on her instantly after the family’s fall and her involvement in such a scandal.

Rumors about her climbing socialdders, questionable character, and academic fraud ran rampant. <fn5c09> Find the newest release on fι?dnοvel</fn5c09>

Projects were canceled, ess revoked, everyone called her a homewrecker.

Poverty makes everything harder for couples, especially when their rtionship wasn’t solid to begin with.

The two began fighting constantly, ming each other.

Ryder med Ivy for seducing him, for only wanting to climb higher, ultimately dragging him down.

Ivy resented Ryder’s ipetence, his inability to beat me, being inferior to a woman.

During one heated argument, Rydershed out without thinking.

“This is all your fault! If you hadn’t thrown yourself at me, wrecking my rtionship, maybe Zara would still care about me. Would I be in this mess?!”

    Ivypletely dropped the mask too.

“You’re the one who’s greedy! Couldn’t let go of the Shaw family power but wanted to find excite with me. When things go wrong, you me me?”

But life showed them no mercy.

Evidence of Ivy’s early academic misconduct was anonymously submitted to academic authorities and her research institute. The evidence was solid, and investigations began immediately.

This meant not only was her careerpletely over, but she might face legal action.

Ivypletely broke down, locking herself in the room.

Eyes bloodshot, she screamed at Ryder.

“It’s her! It has to be Zara! She wants topletely destroy us!”

Looking at this woman who seemed possessed, then at their bare walls, Ryder felt nothing but endless disgust.

He finally saw clearly that everything he’d gambled for was just an illusion.
