“The doctor also said,” Rain continued, “that gic disorder test yesterday doesn’t even exist! And that testing center has no legitimate credentials!”
“Vivian Hartwell!” Rain pointed at me, her eyes full of hatred. “You deliberately lied to us! You just wanted to break us up!”
“So what if I did?” I finally dropped my mask, looking at her coldly. “A homewrecker thinks she deserves the truth?”
“Did you think I’d let a cheater’s childe and im a share of the Hartwell family fortune?”
Then Dad spoke up. “Marcus, as a man, you should take responsibility for your actions.”
“Mr. Hartwell, could you please, for the sake of our years of cooperation…” Marcus made onest appeal to Dad.
“Cooperation?” Dad sneered. “Do you think we could possibly continue cooperating? From now on, Hartwell Group terminates all business rtionships with yourpany.”
“Furthermore, I’ll notify all our partners and let them know your true character.”
Hearing this, Marcus waspletely devastated.
He knew that once the Hartwell family cklisted him, he’d never work in this industry again.
“Time’s up,” I said coldly. “Sign the papers.”
Marcus looked at Rain, then at the divorce agreement, finally picked up the pen and viciously signed his name.
“There! It’s signed!” He mmed the pen on the desk. “Vivian Hartwell, we’re even now!”
“Very good.” I collected the agreement with satisfaction. “Now please get out of my house. Take all your belongings today.”
“And,” I added, “leave the car keys. That’s my family’s car.”
Marcus’s face turned ashen, but he had no strength left to resist.
He silently ced the car keys on the desk and stumbled toward the door.
“Marcus!” Rain chased after him. “You can’t just walk away! What about our baby?”
“What’s that got to do with me?” Marcus didn’t look back. “That kid isn’t even mine!”
“You bastard!” Rain screamed in breakdown.
But Marcus had already left the office.
Rain turned to me, her eyes full of hatred. “Vivian Hartwell! This is all your fault! You destroyed everything I had!”
“Destroyed you?” I sneered. “You chose to be the other woman. Now you’re facing the consequences-who else is there to me?”
“You fucking bitch! I’ll kill you!” Rain charged at me like a madwoman.
But she forgot she was pregnant-after just a few steps, she tripped herself.
“Ah!” She cried out in pain, curling up on the floor clutching her belly.
I looked at her with no sympathy whatsoever.
“Call an ambnce,” I told the security guards. “Take her to the hospital.”
“As for the medical bills,” I looked down at the suffering Rain, “figure it out yourself.”
With that, I picked up my bag and prepared to leave.
“Vivian Hartwell,” Rain called out weakly, “are you really this heartless?”
I stopped and looked back at her. “Heartless? When you were seducing my husband, did you think about my feelings? When you were gloating over your victory, did you think about my heartlessness then?”
“Rain Sullivan, there’s no love without reason in this world, and no hatred without reason either.”
“Your fate today-it’s all the result of your own choices.”
With that, I walked out of the office without looking back.
Behind me came Rain’s desperate sobs, but I didn’t want to hear them anymore.
