Her big, round eyes were dark and shiny, her eyshes were long, and she looked
fair, soft, and adorable. She was an extremely pretty little girl.
Why did she look so familiar, though?
While Nishay was still stunned, Ellie became terrified as well.
She turned her little face away and hid in Wendy''s arms.
Seeing the elderlydy on the screen, Wendy quickly reacted and smiled.
"You must be Anneliese''s grandmother, right? Hello there."
Hearing Wendy''s voice, Anneliese immediately stopped what she was doing and leaned toward the camera.
"Ms. Chalmont, this is my grandmother. Grandma, she''s the person who saved me from Timothy back then."
She briefly introduced them, and Nishay thanked her gratefully.
Wendy smiled and waved it off. "It was nothing, really. You don''t need to be so polite. Besides, I feel a real connection with Anneliese. She shares a deep bond with my family, and my granddaughter is very fond of her."
As she spoke, she lowered her head and gently rubbed Ellie''s hair. "Ellie, the prettydy is here. Aren''t you going to say hi?"
Ellie was a little frightened by the unfamiliar face. Her little head moved slightly, as if she was struggling inside.
Grandma didn''t know about Ellie''s psychological condition, so she simply smiled and said, "So this is your granddaughter. She''s really beautiful. At first nce, she looked like Anneliese when she was little."
Wendy paused. "Ellie looks a lot like Anneliese when she was young?"
"Of course! I was surprised by their resemnce. It''s a pity I don''t have Anneliese''s childhood photos with me; otherwise, you''d definitely be shocked too. No wonder they get along so well."
Grandma nodded earnestly.
She remembered when Anneliese had just been adopted, looking rather thin and frail.
After two months of good care, she had be incredibly pretty, though her personality had stayed introverted and shy.
Whether it was her looks or her timid expressions, she looked exactly like the little girl on the screen.
Anneliese alsoughed, touching her own face.
"Yesterday, my best friend told me our side profiles look the same."
She then spoke to Ellie, who was still hiding her face. "Ellie, why don''t you show your face? Let''s see if we really look alike, okay?"
No one knew whether Ellie was really curious or if she simply rxed when she heard Anneliese''s voice.
The little girl quietly came out of her grandmother''s arms and looked at the screen. Anneliese blinked at her yfully, then turned her head left and right, adjusting her face so Ellie couldpare.
"What do you think? Do we look alike?"
Ellie stared seriously at Anneliese, her little face pink with blush.
Wendy also looked at Anneliese on the screen, then lowered her head to nce at her granddaughter in her arms. She, too, was shocked by how simr they looked.
Ellie''s features hadn''t quite matured yet. Even with attentive care, hers
autism had affected her.

leaving her brows faint and
yellowish and her hair thin and pale.
Meanwhile, Anneliese looked striking. She was a stunning beauty with well-defined
features, especially her thick, natural brows and her long, dark, glossy hair.
Because of that, no one ever noticed
that Anneliese and Ellie shared a bit of resemnce. But now, looking carefcilly andparing them side by side, the simrity only grew stronger the more they looked.
What was more, Wendy found Anneliese''s face familiar to begin with. Now, that sense of familiarity was impossible to ignore.
But this familiarity wasn''t because she looked like Ellie. It was like she resembled someone else, as if she had seen her somewhere before.
Just as Wendy was frowning and thinking, she suddenly heard a soft childish voice from the little one in her arms.
"We do..."
"You see? Even Ellie thinks they look alike!"
Wendy nodded and echoed with a smile. But then...
Wait!
Who had just spoken?
She suddenly looked down in shock at the little girl in her arms.
Had Ellie spoken earlier?
Was she imagining things because she wanted to hear Ellie speak?
Wendy quickly looked up at Anneliese on the screen.
Anneliese had also juste back to her senses. Meeting Wendy''s gaze, she gently nodded, giving her a definite answer.
In an instant, Wendy''s eyes turned red with joy. She hugged little Ellie tightly, her voice trembling with excitement.
"That''s wonderful! You''re finally speaking! Ellie, can you call my name?"
She looked at Ellie with hopeful eyes. Being stared at like that, Ellie''s little face turned red. She opened her small mouth, but she couldn''t utter a word.
Unconsciously, Wendy clenched her fists nervously, her whole body tense as she held her breath.
Seeing that Ellie still couldn''t make a sound after a long while, she instinctively turned to Anneliese on the screen for help.
