Nishay''s expression changed after overhearing their conversation. She turned around and went back into the hospital room.
Up until now, she''d left everything to Anneliese, letting her handle the doctors and all the arrangements.
She had no idea Carter was some kind of medical big shot and always thought he was just a young, regr doctor at the hospital.
"Come with me tonight, okay? I need some backup," Jessica pleaded, holding Anneliese''s hand. She was there to visit Nishay, but also to talk to Anneliese about something important.
Zane arrived in Oceanton today, and Jessica was finally ready to tell him about the baby in person, but he had ns for dinner with friends and wanted Jessica toe along.
Jessica agreed, but she was still nervous, so she begged Anneliese toe, too.
"Of course I''ll go with you," Anneliese promised right away.
She saw Jessica off, then turned back toward Nishay''s hospital room.
She had just reached the door when she saw Cartering out, looking frustrated.
"What''s wrong? Is it Grandma..." Seeing his expression, Anneliese started to worry, thinking Nishay''s condition had worsened.
Carter shrugged. "Your grandma''s fine. I just got rejected as her doctor, which is a first for me."
It was quite an unusual situation for him.
He was used to people begging him for a consult or surgery. He had never had a patient refuse him and request someone else.
Anneliese was stunned.
Clearly, Nishay had figured out that Carter was her attending physician because of Jonathan.
Anneliese gave Carter an apologetic smile. "Sorry, my grandma''s been in a moodtely. If she said anything harsh, I apologize for her."
Carter shook his head. "Not at all. Actually, she was too polite-she kept thanking me and saying she didn''t want to trouble me any further."

Just now, she had kept insisting she didn''t want to trouble him anymore, even apologizing for the inconvenience.
This olddy is tough to deal with. She seems determined to break up the lovebirds. I''m worried for Jonathan.
He used to watch Jonathan and Anneliese together and think they looked sweet enough to make anyone want to fall in love.
Now, with Nishay in the mix, all the romantic feelings had fizzled out.
Romance is never easy. Best for me to stay out of it. Yet, he had never imagined Jonathan and Anneliese would end up as star-crossed lovers. He wondered how long this drama would drag on. I wish I knew how Jonathan nned to fix things.

Nishay stood there, stone-faced, watching them.
Anneliese wondered if she''d overheard, her heart pounding, but their voices had been so low-she probably hadn''t heard.
In a sh, Annelieseposed herself and helped Nishay back inside the room.
Nishayy down, but kept her eyes locked on Anneliese.
While Anneliese poured water, she suddenly heard Nishay asking, "When did you and Jonathan start seeing each other?"
Anneliese frowned. "Why bring that up again? We''re not together anymore. It doesn''t matter now."
"Doesn''t matter? Just tell me the truth. Were you with Jonathan before your divorce from Zacharias? Was he the reason you left Zacharias?"
