Selina held the phone, and her smile melted faster than a snowball under a scorching sun.
The next morning, Anneliese came down the stairs and saw Zacharias standing by the car.
He looked like he had been there all night, still wearing the same suit from yesterday.
A cigarette smoldered between his fingers. The faint smoke only added to his already maic presence.
He broke the cigarette in half and walked toward her. “Come home, honey.”
“Where? Sunrise Residence? I thought I smashed it up good.”
Anneliese stepped back, dodging his outstretched hand.
Zacharias‘ expression tightened painfully. “I had my men restore it. It’s as good as
new now.”
“Man, I should’ve burned the whole ce down.”
Her mocking words made his fists clench. His chest heaved with frustration.
Until recently, Zacharias was the spoiled one in this rtionship. Given his usually dominant spot, bowing his head was a nigh impossible task.

“Anne, you have to stop assuming the worst. I promise I will get the bracelet back to you as soon as it arrives.”
“Your promise is worth as much as a piece of tissue in a trash can! After all the lies you told me, your integrity means nothing! Your skin’s thick enough to stop an ICBM dead in its tracks! No way I’m buying your promise!”
Her words struck him like ice.
He remembered when she had trusted himpletely, at home and at work.
She had always supported him fully, relied on him entirely.
Now the woman felt like a stranger. Her eyes were frigid, and her words cut sharper than winter winds.
His chest heaved with panic and restless urgency. He could not hold back and scooped Anneliese into his arms.
“Honey, I know I messed up. I know I should’ve thought of you before I did anything. But this time, I swear I will return the bracelet, and it’ll be intact. Just trust me one more time!”
