Chapter 295

    ?Chapter 295:

Despite Cathy’s upbeat tone, Kristopher could detect a hint of fatigue, a subtle weariness that caught his attention.

Frowning slightly, he nced at the wall clock.

It was six o’clock in the morning. Normally, even if Cathy weren’t asleep, she would have just woken up. So why was she calling at this hour?

He stood up, his curiosity getting the better of him. Walking towards the door, he asked softly, “Cathy, when did you wake up?”

In the kitchen, Belinda emerged, carrying a steaming bowl of hand-pulled noodles, ready to ce it on the dining table. But Kristopher’s voice gave her pause. “Why don’t you sleep a bit longer? You have several shoots today, and aren’t you worried about not being in good condition?”

His voice was filled with concern, a tenderness that Belinda hadn’t expected. But as his footsteps faded into the distance, the mention of a shoot made it clear who was on the other end of the line.

Belinda froze, the bowl in her hands suddenly feeling heavy. Her body stiffened as the realization hit her. With Marc’s usual efficiency, she was sure he had already uncovered who had orchestrated the events ofst night against Fred. Now that Marc had arrived with the documents, Kristopher must have pieced together everything—from the scheme to the people involved—and traced it all back to Cathy.

The people she had arranged had nearly cost both Belinda and Kristopher their lives. And yet, Kristopher’s voice remained gentle when addressing her, as if he didn’t take her actions seriously at all.

Was Kristopher’s love for Cathy run so deep that he refused to believe she could have nearly killed him?

    “Mrs. Cox?”

Marc’s voice snapped Belinda from her thoughts. She ced the noodle bowl on the table and exhaled, pushing aside her turbulent thoughts. “Of course,” she replied, nodding. “I guessed you haven’t eaten yet so early.”

Marc’s face brightened. “Then thank you, Mrs. Cox!”

Belinda frowned as her gaze drifted toward the window, where Kristopher still stood in the yard, smiling as he continued his call. “Don’t call me Mrs. Cox,” she said tly. “Kristopher and I are already divorced.”

    Marc smiled awkwardly. “I apologize, Miss Nelson—it’s just a habit.”<fn2> ???s ??????? ?s ?????? ?? Find★Novel</fn2>

    “Even habits need to change.”

Belinda withdrew her gaze and returned to her tasks in the kitchen. Regardless of everything, Kristopher had been injured the previous night trying to save her and Fred. She owed him, and there were still matters to attend to.

Outside in the vi’s yard, Kristopher frowned as he clutched his phone, his tone t. “How did you know there were fatalities inst night’s car ident?”

Cathy’s voice brimmed with certainty. “I read about it online. Someone said they saw a hearse take away two bodies from the beachst night.” She sighed, her voice faint with regret. “I don’t know if their identities have been confirmed yet. If their families know… they must be heartbroken. What were theirst thoughts as they were hit and died on that beach?”

Belinda fell silent for a moment, sorrow washing over her, then she continued slowly, “Kristopher, do you remember four years ago? My sister Joyce… she had an ident at night too, and no one was there to save her. That’s why she didn’t make it through until dawn and passed away… I don’t know if it’s because”
