Chapter 249

    ?Chapter 249:

Donovan had assumed that Belinda had concocted the story as an excuse. He believed she felt overlooked on her birthday and didn’t want to deal with the hassle of organizing gifts and a cake for Gillian. However, it was actually the truth.

The familial voices from the other end of the phone continued. With a sigh that carried the weight of weariness, Belinda closed her eyes and said, “If you’re questioning the truth of this, feel free to look up thetest reports from Nawrin. It’s been covered by multiple news outlets. I’ve divorced Kristopher and can’t affordvish birthday cakes or expensive gifts, so I won’t be returning tomorrow for the birthday celebration.”

She was on the verge of ending the call when Donovan’s uncertain voice stopped her. “Belinda, the reports mentioned… you were left with nothing. Was that a misreport, or did you have them phrase it that way to show that money doesn’t matter to you?”

“I truly ended up with nothing,” Belinda replied calmly. “Over these past three years, I haven’t contributed financially. Kristopher earned the money, and I don’t want to benefit without earning it.”<fn4c05> Fresh chapters posted on Find?Novel</fn4c05>

“How can you describe that as benefiting without doing anything?” Donovan retorted sharply. “You cared for Kristopher for six months while he was incapacitated, managing all the burdensome tasks. When he woke up, you assumed the role of the devoted wife, making sure he looked his best. Your efforts were undeniable. iming a portion of his wealth seems only right!” He paused to catch his breath before continuing, “No, I refuse to believe you walked away with nothing. You’re probably scared we might demand some of that money! I’m going to call Kristopher right now and ask him about…”

At the mention of contacting Kristopher, Belinda couldn’t hold back any longer. She grabbed her phone and said with a firm tone, “I’d strongly suggest you reconsider calling Kristopher now. He’s nning to propose to his girlfriend tomorrow. If you wish to disturb him or sabotage his ns, go ahead and call him now to discuss the divorce details.”

With that, she couldn’t bear to hear any more from Donovan, so she hung up the phone and switched it off. Silence enveloped the room immediately. She tossed her phone aside and headed for a shower.

Emergingter, she found her phone bombarded with over a dozen missed calls, all from Gillian. Alongside the calls, Gillian had sent a flurry of messages.

“Belinda, I don’t think Cathy is the right match for Kristopher. How about we try to win him back together?” “Let’s both try to win him back, okay?” “You were with him for three years. Surely there’s still a spark there. I believe you might still have a chance to make things right.”

Belinda couldn’t suppress a chuckle as she read the messages. Though she’d only brought Kristopher to the Nelson family a few times over the past three years, Gillian had always made a show of doting on him. Now her motives were clear.

Belinda smirked and responded coldly to Gillian, “If you’re interested in Kristopher, go ahead and chase him. But leave me out of it.” No sooner had she sent the message than she received a reply from Gillian. “Really? Can I really go after him?”

As Belinda read through Gillian’s ludicrous messages, she couldn’t suppress a chuckle. She wondered whether Gillian was overly self-assured or simply dismissive of Cathy. Despite this, she couldn’t help but admire Gillian’s audacity. With a yful smirk, she typed back with mock solemnity, “Of course, if you’re into him, absolutely go for it.”

After sending the message, Belinda spent some time exploring various jewelry design websites and watching videos that dissected thetest fashion trends. Before she knew it, she had drifted off to sleep.
