?Chapter 157:
As he considered the n, his mood soured. This wasn’t meant to unfold this way. Why did Belinda feelpelled to share those posts online?
“Divorce…” Cathy sighed deeply and bowed her head.
Unseen by Kristopher, her eyes twinkled with smug satisfaction. Reflecting on Kristopher’s recent behavior towards Belinda, she realized that had today’s events not urred, their divorce might have dragged on indefinitely. She silently thanked the foolish person who snapped that photo!
Once Belinda left the hospital, she immediately dialed Darren’s number, only to find his phone switched off.
“I can’t reach Darren either,” she admitted.
At the hospital’s entrance, Madisyn arrived to pick her up. “What happened? Is he gone?”
“Perhaps he’s avoiding dealing with his actions,” Belinda spected, looking at Madisyn intently. “Do you know where he lives?”
After a brief pause, Madisyn exhaled and replied, “He lives in your neighborhood. He even helped you find your current apartment.”
Belinda was caught off guard for a moment. “My apartment… was suggested by Darren?”
“Yes,” Madisyn admitted with a hint of guilt as she drove. “When I was searching for a ce for you, Darren mentioned it might be good if you lived near him so you could support each other. Back then, I was still hoping to pair you two up, so I went along with it.”
Belinda massaged her temples, clearly frustrated. “Why didn’t you tell me this before?” Had she not asked Madisyn about Darren earlier that day, she would have remained unaware of the unintended favor she owed to Darren.
“He didn’t think it was necessary,” Madisyn exined, then swiftly shifted the topic. “Remember when you lost the baby and came to Rozand to find me? I suggested that the best way to retaliate against Kristopher and Cathy was to make your marriage certificate public. You declined, not wanting to implicate the Cox family or Anthony. Yet, who would’ve imagined that this morning, after Cathy’s fans posted your video online and branded you a home wrecker, someone would step up to defend you in a way I couldn’t?” Madisyn’s tone was mixed with relief and a sense of vindication as she continued, “It was so gratifying to see Cathy getting criticized online this afternoon!” At a red light, she looked over at Belinda. “Who do you think was behind posting those photos and messages today?”
Belinda nced at her phone, flicking through her messages. Her eyebrows lifted slightly. “You don’t really think I did it, do you?”

“Of course not,” Madisyn replied, shaking her head. “Others might not see the real you, but I do. If you were really capable of something like this, you wouldn’t have allowed Kristopher to drag out the divorce for so long. And you’re too caring. Anthony has always been good to you. You wouldn’t stand to see the Cox Group hurt because of your actions.”
Madisyn’s insight was precise, yet a tear threatened to escape Belinda’s eye. First, it was Anthony, and now it was Madisyn. Everyone close to her trusted her inherently, except Kristopher. The image of Kristopher’s hands around her neck shed in her mind, and she exhaled a weary sigh. That man simply didn’t trust her.
As these thoughts swirled in her head, Madisyn’s red Maserati pulled up in front of Darren’s apartment building.
Belinda swung the car door open and stepped out, her eyes immediately drawn to the familiar sight of her own rented apartment. It dawned on her just then how surprisingly close she was to Darren’s ce.
