Chapter 129

    ?Chapter 129:

Cathy had thought her words would shatter Belinda, maybe even send her spiraling into a breakdown.

Instead, Belinda not only remainedposed but actually chuckled and retorted, “But you’re still not pushing hard enough.”

She dragged a chair over and sat down, musing, “When you got back to the country, I was convinced you two would quickly find your happily ever after. Now, nearly a monthter, Kristopher still hasn’t left me.” Belinda elegantly crossed her legs as she spoke. “Is it because your bond isn’t strong enough, or maybe you justck the allure?”

Cathy’s eyes bulged, fury mounting within her. “The only reason our divorce hasn’t gone through is that you dodged him! How dare you mock me after you spent all of yesterday hiding out in the hospital to avoid signing the papers?”<fnfe34> ??? ????? ???????s ??? ?????s??? ?? find?novel</fnfe34>

“But I won’t stay there forever.” With a provocative smirk, Belinda shot back, “If Kristopher truly wanted to be rid of me, he would’ve rescheduled right after I missed yesterday’s meeting. And yet, when we saw each other this morning, he didn’t even bring up the divorce.”

Cathy’s face flushed a deep red, her usual pallor reced by fiery anger. “Belinda! You’re on the verge of being thrown out of the Cox family, and you still have the nerve to act so high and mighty! Just you wait! Kristopher will be rid of you by the end of the week!”

    Belinda arched an eyebrow. “Really?”

She was well aware that Cathy was correct. Kristopher had already arranged the venue and the cake for his proposal to Cathy, signaling his intention to ask Belinda for a divorce within the week.

Knowing this, Belinda aimed to use the remaining days before their separation to unleash her pent-up anger.

“Absolutely,” Cathy retorted sharply. “It won’t be long before Kristopher presents me with the grandest marriage proposal Nawrin has ever seen. Just you wait!”

As she spoke, Cathy seemed to recall something, her gaze sharpening as she looked at Belinda. “You two never even had an engagement ceremony, much less a wedding, did you? Back then, you were the one who desperately pushed for marriage. He wasatose, helpless to do anything…”

Cathy’s voice dripped with scorn as she stared at Belinda. “You forced a man who didn’t love you to marry you. Look where that’s gotten you. A marriage that produced only sorrow, culminating in a miscarriage, and now, after three years, you’re headed for divorce!”

As Belinda listened to her talk about the child, she felt a piercing ache in her heart. Her current circumstances were, without a doubt, her own doing.

Taking a deep breath, determined not to delve further into the conversation with Cathy, Belinda forced a cold smile. “They say that even the most fictitious things can be reality if one pretends long enough.”

With a side nce at Cathy’s vibrant demeanor, she added, “Miss Miller seems to relish in ying the ill, and who knows, perhaps one day it might just turn real for you.”

Cathy brushed off Belinda’s remarks with a lightness only an actress could muster. “I’m merely perfecting my craft.”

After herment, she yawned and looked at Belinda with a hint of mockery in her eyes. “Aren’t you here to offer an apology?”

She pointed imperiously to the floor next to her with her slender finger. “Go on, kneel down and apologize from your heart. If not, I might just have to tell him how poorly you apologized and that you were trying to provoke me.”
