Chapter 117

    ?Chapter 117:

Kristopher’s words caused Belinda to catch her breath abruptly.

Back when Kristopher had just woken up, Belinda had often used little ploys, like pretending to fall or faking a sprained ankle, to draw closer to him.

At that time, she believed Kristopher’s willingness to y along indicated that he cared and perhaps even had feelings for her.

That belief shattered when she identally overheard someone outside a private room asking him if he was oblivious to her schemes. His response from that day still echoed in her mind.

He had said, “How could I not see through such obvious theatrics and schemes? I yed along with her act just to stop her from finding even more distasteful methods to approach me.”

That moment marked the first time Belinda realized his deep-seated disdain for her.

From that day forward, she never again made overt attempts to be close to him in public.

She hadn’t anticipated that, after all this time, a small misstep would cause him to revisit the past and suspect her of deceit and maniption.

“Kristopher and Belinda certainly seem close,” Allen said, chuckling lightly after seeing Kristopher embrace Belinda.

His words appeared tomend the closeness between Kristopher and Belinda, yet they carried an undertone of mockery regarding their rtionship.

After all, Allen had not missed how genuinely Kristopher had previously treated Cathy at the racetrack.<fn0ee6> This text is hosted at FindN0vel</fn0ee6>

However, Anthony seemed oblivious to the underlying sarcasm. He stroked his beard and smiled. “Yes, they truly show deep affection for each other.”

“They were just debating divorce a few days ago, and then they decided against it, which is quite amusing!”

Allen’s mouth twisted into a smirk as he nced at Belinda and then looked away. “Anthony, you simply don’t see it. That’s all part of the amusement.”

Anthonyughed heartily and said, “Is that so? It seems I’m a bit out of touch then…”

Their banter was lighthearted but left Belinda feeling uneasy.

Thankfully, the meal was soon served.

Anthony stood up, leaning on his cane, ready to lead the younger group to the dining area, when the front door of the vi swung open.

    “Kristopher!”

Cathy entered, dressed all in white.

She burst in like a storm, heading directly toward Kristopher for a hug. She wrapped her arms tightly around his broad waist, resting her head against his chest, her voice trembling with a sob as she said, “I’ve been searching for you everywhere. I finally found you!”

Suddenly, the living room fell into a silence so deep that it felt suffocating.

Allen raised an eyebrow and cast a nce at Belinda.

Belinda responded with a helpless shrug and chose to remain quiet.

    “What are you doing here?”

A momentter, the sharp tap of Anthony’s cane echoed across the living room. “Hey! Is our security just for decoration? How can anyone just stroll in here?! Huh?”

Anthony’s stern tone caused Cathy’s face to nch.

She bit her lip, her face turning pale as she stepped out of Kristopher’s arms. “Anthony… I… I didn’t mean to intrude…”

Her voice quivered with distress, nearly breaking into tears. “I had urgent matters to discuss with Kristopher, but I couldn’t find him, so…”
