Chapter 104

    ?Chapter 104:

“Sir, Mrs. Cox is approaching,” the driver announced.

No sooner had he maneuvered the vehicle to turn around than he noticed Belinda sprinting toward them. Her figure grewrger in the rearview mirror.

“Leave her be,” Kristophermanded, his brow furrowed as he tried to steal a moment’s rest, eyes shut.

Belinda had been so resolute when she left. What could have made her chase after the car so suddenly?

“But, sir…” The driver hesitated.<fn6dbb> Chapters first released on FindN()vel</fn6dbb>

With a worried press of the pedal, the driver elerated, watching Belinda’s figure shrink in the rearview mirror. Then, unexpectedly, Belinda stumbled and fell.

The driver, concern etching his features, leaned in and spoke in a hushed tone, “Mrs. Cox fell down.”

Kristopher’s frown deepened. He swiftly turned to nce at the rearview mirror, only to realize how far they had driven from Belinda. He watched through the ss as she slowly picked herself up from the ground.

“Why are we speeding?” he demanded, his voice icy as he shot a stern look at the driver. “Turn the car around,” he ordered sharply.

The driver bowed his head, exhaling a silent sigh before quietly reversing the car.

He hadn’t been speeding, not really. It had been a normal pace. Yet, moments ago, Kristopher had instructed him to ignore Belinda, and now he was facing his reproach.

Belinda struggled to her feet, wincing from the difort.

Thankfully, the road was paved, sparing her from dirt or mud stains. Despite the fall, sharp stones and sand hadn’t scratched her skin. Still, she couldn’t catch up to Kristopher.

If only Fred had called her sooner, or if she had managed to dy Kristopher just a little longer…

Suddenly, a bright light shed before her eyes. Instinctively, she shielded them with her hand.

It took her a moment to adjust, and when she did, she saw it was Kristopher’s car returning.

The car slowed beside her, and the rear window descended to reveal Kristopher’s impassive yet striking face. “Is there something you need?” he asked, his voice cool.

Eyes wide, Belinda blurted out, “Yes, yes!”

Hastily, she opened the car door and climbed in, more flustered than before. Kristopher watched her with an icy stare for a moment before turning his gaze forward, his expression unreadable. “I’m not really feeling it anymore.”

Trying to lighten the mood, Belinda forced a smile, tugged at her hoodie’s cor, and mimicked what the masseuse had done the previous day, creating a mark that resembled a hickey near the two existing marks.

Then, she gestured to the three marks on her corbone and asked, “Could you look at these and tell if they’re all the same?”

Peering at her enticing corbone and smooth skin, Kristopher wore aplex expression.

Eager to cate him, Belinda smiled and exined, “I went to the massage parlor yesterday, and Madisyn chose a rather questionable masseuse for me. That’s how I ended up with these red marks.”

Kristopher appeared skeptical. “What was so funny just now?” He vividly recalled her joyful smile.

With an awkward grin, Belinda borated, “It’s just that these marks could easily be misunderstood. Yesterday, as we left the massage parlor, Madisyn joked that you might mistake them for hickeys. I guess that’s why Iughed just now…”

Kristopher’s expression soured. Yet, the atmosphere in the car grew slightly warmer.

After a moment, he turned his gaze forward, annoyance tinged his voice. “She’s always causing trouble.”

Belinda felt a wave of relief knowing he believed her and sighed inwardly.

    “Well, I heard your exnation.”

Looking down and casually rolling up his shirt sleeves, Kristopher responded indifferently, “You rushed to catch up with my car just to rify this? Are you suggesting we pick up where we left off earlier?”
