Chapter 63

    ?Chapter 63:

    Cathy’s face drained of color.

In the next moment, she turned away from Kristopher, attempting to hide the anxiety that suddenly overtook her. “Yes… yes, I used to… I used to love racing, but…” She paused for a moment, collecting herself before meeting his gaze again. Her smile now carried a faint sadness. “But Kristopher, you know about my illness. Since falling sick, my interests and habits have changed. Have you forgotten?”

With a forced chuckle, she added, “It’s been ages since I’ve been to a ce like this, so I find it a bit overwhelming… but…”

She moved closer to Kristopher, reaching out to steady herself against him. “If this is where you find joy and want to unwind with some racing, I’m here to support you and cheer you on!”

She looked up at him, her eyes sparkling with admiration. “A man behind the wheel of a race car does have a certain charm.”

Her expression, carefully crafted over time, was the one she had perfected for moments like these.

With a tilt of her head and an innocent gleam in her eyes, she smiled at him.

To Kristopher, in that instant, she was breathtakingly beautiful.

She had believed Kristopher was entirely captivated by her, but his frown and the skeptical look in his eyes caught her off guard. “Didn’t I tell you five years ago that I’m not a fan of this kind of thrilling sport? Have you forgotten?” he asked.

Back then, Kristopher had just suffered an eye injury and had only recently met Cathy. During that time, her sister Joyce had casually mentioned Cathy’s passion for racing and her impressive skill at it.

Knowing that he could no longer participate in racing due to his injury, Kristopher had expressed his disinterest in the sport.

Joyce had teasingly suggested that it didn’t matter, as he could simply support them from the sidelines at the races.<fn309d> ?? ??? ???? ?? ???? ???? ???????s, ????s? ??s?? find[f]ovel</fn309d>

Yearster, once his eyes had recovered, Kristopher had often spoken of wanting to see Cathy race. However, his responsibilities with the Cox Group had consistently dyed those ns.

Now, Kristopher had finally seized the chance to watch Cathy race at the track. Yet, here she was, not only disliking the noisy racetrack atmosphere but also expecting him, someone who had been injured, to race for her amusement?

His gaze on Cathy grew more doubtful.

Rather than receiving an adoring look, Cathy found herself being questioned.

Panicked, she turned away, her eyes darting around the racetrack. She started to speak, but her voice trailed off when she spotted Belinda, d in a racing suit, standing next to Allen and Madisyn.

Belinda was all smiles, chatting animatedly with them as the breeze tousled her long hair, giving her an air of vivacity and charm.

Cathy stared, ensuring it was indeed Belinda.

Her eyes widened in astonishment. Turning to Kristopher, she stammered, “Kristopher, that… that is…”

Kristopher followed her stunned gaze, and there stood Belinda.

She was still wearing the racing suit from Allen’s photograph, yet in person, she seemed far more radiant and vibrant than any picture had conveyed.

Belinda leaned in to whisper something to Allen, her smile widening as she yfully pinched his ear.

The light dancing in her eyes and the brilliance of her smile were unlike anything Kristopher had witnessed before.

In that moment, he realized that he might never have truly understood who Belinda was.

The woman he had known as dull and pretentious, always ying the part of the affluentdy, was unexpectedly full of life and charm.

    “Kristopher!”

Allen’s voice echoed across the distance. Spotting Kristopher and Cathy, he beamed and guided Madisyn and Belinda toward them, one hand on each of them. “Come on, let me introduce you to my best friend from childhood!”

As they drew nearer, both Belinda’s and Madisyn’s expressions shifted. They nced up simultaneously, their faces souring at the sight of the couple by the entrance. Belinda quickly freed her arm from Allen’s grip, her brow furrowed in displeasure.

Madisyn scoffed and stepped back from Allen, distancing herself. “Meet them? How disgusting!” she muttered under her breath.
