I stared at Calvin with slight amusement in my eyes. The nerve of him iming I’m a Rochester. Please! Majority of North Bay didn’t even know I existed. Majority of Kingston thought I was merely a servant to the Rochesters.
With a mischievous smile I responded.
“<i>Oh</i>, <i>don’t </i><i>worry </i><i>father</i>…<i>I </i><i>won’t </i><i>forget</i>.<b>” </b>
Calvin slightly shuddered, with a nervous expression he turned and walked back the table.
Olivia, who had been eerily quiet the whole time, slowly walked over to me. With a smile that never reached her eyes she gently grabbed my hands.
<i>“</i><i>Sister</i><i>, </i><i>I’m </i><i>so </i><i>happy </i><i>for </i><i>you </i><i>but</i><i>…</i><i>well</i><i>…</i><i>how </i><i>is </i><i>this </i><i>going </i><i>to </i><i>work </i><i>exactly</i><i>?</i><i>” </i>
Cole looked at Olivia with a puzzled expression.
<i>“</i><i>Livie</i><i>, </i><i>what </i><i>do </i><i>you </i><i>mean</i><i>?</i><i>” </i>
Olivia turned back to me.
“<i>Well</i><i>…</i><i>correct </i><i>me </i><i>if </i><i>I’m </i><i>wrong </i><i>but</i><i>, </i><i>isn’t </i><i>their </i><i>son </i><i>in </i><i>a </i><ia</i><i>?</i><i>” </i>
<i>GASPS</i><i>!!! </i>
Noah responded next.
“<i>That’s </i><i>right</i><i>! </i><i>I’d </i><i>almost </i><i>forgotten </i><i>about </i><i>that</i>. <i>Kai </i><i>Christiansen </i><i>was </i><i>in </i><i>an </i><i>ident </i><i>that </i>
<i>rendered </i><i>him </i><iatose</i>.<i>” </i>
Suddenly, Brian began tough hysterically.
<i>“</i><i>Now </i><i>it </i><i>all </i><i>makes </i><i>sense</i><i>!! </i><i>They </i><i>want </i><i>to </i><i>marry </i><i>that </i><i>vegetable </i>of a <i>son </i><i>off </i><i>to </i><i>someone </i><i>so </i><i>they </i><i>can </i><i>y </i><i>nurse </i><i>and </i><i>maid</i><i>!! </i><i>And </i><i>they </i><i>chose you</i><i>!! </i><i>Hahahaha</i><i>!!!</i>”
My eyes shot over to Brian, I think I’m going to enjoy making his gravel the most. Sharon smiled smugly.

“<i>Well </i>of <i>course </i><i>they </i><i>did</i><i>. </i><i>Even </i>an <i>elite </i><i>family </i><i>like </i><i>that </i><i>knows </i><i>that </i><i>girl </i><i>is </i>useless. <i>If </i><i>they </i><i>truly </i><i>wanted </i>a <i>Rochester</i><i>, </i><i>they </i><i>would </i><i>have </i>chosen my <i>Livie</i>. <i>Well</i><i>, </i><i>at </i><i>least </i><i>now </i><i>you’ll </i><i>be </i>of <i>some </i>
<i>benefit</i>.”
And just like that, Olivia turned the tide of the shock intoughter. But I didn’t care, I knew their days of joy was numbered.
Calvin immediately signed the contract without thoroughly reading it, just as Teddy predicted. Handing me the documents, no longer was the beam of joy from earlier, but now a look of disdain.
<i>“</i><i>Listen </i><i>girl</i><i>! </i><i>Whatever </i><i>the </i><i>Christiansens </i><i>ask </i><i>of </i><i>you</i><i>, </i><i>you </i><i>must </i><i>do</i>! <i>I </i><i>don’t </i><i>care </i><i>what </i><i>it </i><i>is</i><i>! </i><i>You </i><i>will </i><i>not </i><i>embarrass </i><i>this </i><i>family</i><i>!!</i>”
I stared at my father with a nk expression; I couldn’t afford for him to know how much I hated him…not now anyway.
Olivia looked at me with feigned concern though there was smugness in her eyes.
“Oh, <i>sister</i>, <i>I’m </i>so <i>sorry</i>.”
Suddenly, Jonathan walked over and wrapped his arms around her waist.
<i>“</i><i>What </i><i>are </i><i>you </i><i>sorry </i>for <i>babe</i>. <i>She’s </i><i>only </i><i>getting </i><i>what </i><i>she’s </i><i>worth</i><i>. </i><i>As </i><i>if </i><i>a </i><i>family </i><i>like </i><i>that </i>
<i>would </i><i>have </i><i>ever </i><i>wanted </i><i>her </i><i>to </i><i>marry </i><i>their </i><i>son </i><i>had </i><i>he </i><i>been </i><i>woke</i><i>.</i><i>” </i>
Smiling smugly, Jonathan continued.
<i>“</i><i>And </i><i>to </i><i>think </i><i>you </i><i>had </i><i>the </i><i>nerve </i><i>to </i><i>pretend </i><i>as </i><i>if </i><i>you </i><i>had </i><i>a </i><i>better </i><i>option</i><i>.</i><i>” </i>
I smiled at Jonathan.
<i>“</i><i>That’s </i><i>really </i><i>something </i><i>isn’t </i><i>it</i><i>? </i><i>That </i><i>I’d </i><i>rather </i><i>marry </i><i>someone </i><i>in </i><i>a </ia <i>than </i><i>have </i>to <i>deal </i><i>with </i><i>you</i><i>.</i><i>” </i>
Jonathan’s face turned fire red. Olivia quickly ced her hands on his chest.
<i>“</i><i>Jonathan </i><i>stop </i><i>it</i><i>. </i><i>Let’s </i><i>just </i><i>be </i><i>happy </i><i>for </i><i>Grace</i>.”
“Oh<i>, </i><i>don’t </i><i>worry</i><i>! </i><i>I </i><i>am </i><i>happy</i><i>! </i><i>Happy </i><i>to </i><i>know </i>you’ll be <i>cleaning </i><i>up </i><i>after </i><i>some </i><i>brain </i><i>dead </i><i>sap</i><i>!</i><i>” </i>

<b><i>SLAP</i></b><b><i>! </i></b>
I pped Jonathan hard. Everyone was shocked, it took a minute topute what had just happened.
Jonathan’s eyes were bloodshot red! His right cheek burned brightly, stained from my left hand. My eyes were widen ferociously. My father suddenly ran over along with my mother and brothers. Instantly holding Jonathan back as his fury began to erupt.
<i>“</i><i>You </i><i>bitch</i>!!! <i>You </i><i>dare </i>hit <i>me</i><i>!!</i><i>” </i>
<i>“</i><i>Calm </i><i>down </i><i>Jon</i>!!!”
Noah yelled as he gripped his arms.
“<i>What </i><i>the </i><i>hell </i><i>just </i><i>happened</i><i>!!</i>”
Calvin screamed!
<i>“</i><i>Why </i><i>would </i><i>you </i><i>do </i><i>that </i><i>Grd</i><i>!</i>”
Cole screamed as he tried to help Noah.
<i>“</i><i>I </i><i>told </i><i>you </i><i>she </i><i>was </i><i>getting </i><i>out </i><i>of </i><i>hand</i><i>!</i><i>” </i>
Brian screamed as he hugged Olivia who was now crying.
<i>“</i><i>It’s </i><i>not </i><i>her </i><i>fault</i><i>!! </i><i>Jonnie </i><i>why </i><i>did </i><i>you </i><i>say </i><i>that</i><i>!</i><i>” </i>
<i>“I </i><i>only </i><i>said </i><i>the </i><i>truth</i><i>!</i><i>” </i>
“<i>That’s </i><i>enough</i>!!!”
Sharon yelled causing everyone to halt their actions.
<i>“</i><i>Disgraceful</i><i>! </i><i>Acting </i><i>like </i><i>this</i><i>! </i><i>Jonathan</i><i>, </i><i>if </i><i>you </i><i>are </i><i>going </i><i>to </i><i>marry </i><i>my </i><i>daughter you </i><i>had </i><i>better </i><i>act </i><i>like </i><i>you </i><i>have </i><i>some </i><i>ss </i><i>and </i><i>grace</i>! <i>You </i><i>represent </i><i>the </i>Brooks <i>and now </i><i>the </i><i>Rochesters</i><i>!</i>”
Then she turned to me. Disgust burned through her eyes.
<i>“</i><i>And </i><i>you</i><i>…</i><i>if </i><i>you </i><i>ever </i><i>disrespect </i><i>someone </i><i>in </i><i>my </i><i>house </i><i>like </i><i>that </i><i>again</i>…<i>I </i><i>will </i><i>surely </i><i>make </i><i>you </i>

A
<i>pay</i><i>. </i><i>I </i><i>don’t </i><i>give </i>a <i>damn </i><i>who </i><i>you’re </i><i>marrying</i>.”
I know she expected me to cower, in my previous life that death re was good for making me cower into submission. I stared at Sharon with equal disgust. My tone matching hers.
<i>“</i><i>If </i><i>anyone </i><i>ever </i><i>disrespects </i><i>my </i><i>husband </i><i>like </i><i>that </i><i>again</i>…<i>I’ll </i><i>make </i><i>them </i>pay…and <i>I </i><i>won’t </i><i>care </i><i>who they </i><i>are</i><i>.</i>”
Sharon’s eyes widen and for a brief moment, I think <b>I </b>saw fear in her eyes. Before she could respond, Calvin walked over cing his hand on her shoulder.
<i>“</i><i>Grd</i><i>, </i><i>why </i><i>don’t </i><i>you </i><i>go </i><i>and </i><i>pack</i><i>. </i><i>If </i><i>the </i><i>Christiansens </i><i>truly </i><i>are </i><iing </i><i>tomorrow </i><i>it’s </i><i>best </i><i>you </i><i>get </i><i>ready </i><i>now</i>.<b>” </b>
His voice was calm but strained as he attempted to defuse the situation. Without saying a word, I red at him and then turned to leave. The room remained quiet until I was out
of earshot.

<b><i>Noah’s </i></b><b><i>POV</i></b><b>: </b>
We all stood in shock as Grd went to her room. Never had we seen her like this. Had marrying into House Christiansen given her that much heart? Brian was the first to speak.
<i>“</i><i>I </i><i>know </i><i>we’re </i><i>not </i><i>going </i><i>to </i><i>just </i><i>let </i><i>her </i><i>get </i><i>away </i><i>with </i><i>this</i><i>! </i><i>She </i><i>was </i><ipletely </i><i>insane </i><i>just </i>
<i>now</i><i>!</i>”
I looked at Brian with annoyance. If we were being honest, Grd wasn’t the one who
started this.
<i>“</i><i>Jonathan </i><i>shouldn’t </i><i>have </i><i>said </i><i>that </i><i>about </i><i>Kai </i><i>Christiansen</i>.”
Oliva and Jonathan’s eyes widen in disbelief.
“<i>I </i><i>know </i><i>you’re </i>not <i>making </i><i>this </i><i>MY </i><i>fault</i><i>! </i>I <i>only </i><i>stated </i><i>the </i><i>ob-</i><i>” </i>
<i>“</i><i>What </i><i>you </i><i>said </i><i>was </i><i>reckless</i>!<i>” </i>
Olivia began to cry.

<i>“</i><i>Noah</i>, <i>please </i>calm down. Don’t <i>be </i><i>upset </i><i>with </i>Jonnie. <i>Grd </i><i>had </i>no <i>right </i><i>to </i><i>hit </i>him. <i>She’s </i><i>just </i><i>angry </i><i>that </i>Jonathan <i>loves </i>me. <i>This </i><i>is </i><i>all </i><i>my </i><i>fa-</i>”
“No <i>Livic</i>… <i>It’s </i>your fiancé’s <i>fault</i>. <i>Tell </i>me <i>something </i><i>Jonathan</i><i>, </i><i>did </i><i>it </i><i>ur </i><i>to </i><i>you </i><i>what </i><i>might </i><i>happen </i><i>if </i><i>she </i>went <i>back </i>and <i>told </i><i>House Christiansen </i><i>how </i><i>you </i><i>MOCKED </i><i>their </iatose <i>son</i><i>?</i><i>” </i>
Everyone’s eyes widen. Finally, it was sinking in. Dad chimed in.
“<i>Noah </i><i>is </i><i>right</i><i>! </i><i>I </i><i>have </i>no <i>doubt </i><i>they </i><i>only </i><i>want </i><i>to </i><i>marry </i><i>that </i>useless <i>girl </i><i>to </i><i>be </i>a <i>caregiver </i><i>for </i><i>their </i><i>son</i>. <i>That </i><i>being </i><i>said</i><i>, </i><i>disrespecting House </i><i>Christiansen </i><i>will </i><i>NOT </i><i>be </i><i>tolerated</i><i>!</i><i>” </i>
Brain began to protest.
“So, <i>we’re </i><i>supposed </i><i>to </i><i>what</i><i>! Kiss </i><i>Grd’s </i>ass! <i>Over </i><i>my </i><i>dead </i><i>body</i><i>!</i><i>” </i>
<i>“</i><i>Dead </i><i>is </i><i>exactly </i><i>what </i><i>you </i><i>will </i><i>be </i><i>if </i><i>she </i><i>tells </i><i>them </i><i>what </i><i>happened </i><i>tonight</i><i>! </i><i>House </i><i>Christiansen </i><i>is </i><i>the </i><i>most </i><i>powerful </i><i>family </i><i>in </i><i>the </i><i>world</i><i>! </i><i>They’ll </i><i>destroy </i><i>us</i><i>!</i><i>” </i>
Brian began to calm down. Exasperated, I continued.
<i>“</i><i>Look</i><i>, </i><i>no </i><i>one </i><i>is </i><i>asking </i><i>you </i><i>to </i>kiss <i>Grd’s </i><i>ass</i>. <i>By </i><i>tomorrow </i><i>afternoon </i><i>we’ll </i><i>be </i><i>rid </i><i>of </i><i>her </i><i>anyway </i><i>and </i><i>then </i><i>we </i><i>can </i><i>finally </i><i>go </i><i>back </i><i>to </i><i>the </i><i>way </i><i>things </i><i>were </i><i>before </i><i>she </i><i>entered </i><i>our </i><i>lives</i>. <i>We </i><i>just </i><i>have </i><i>to </i><i>get </i><i>through </i><i>tonight</i>. <i>We </i><i>all </i><i>know </i><i>her </i><i>life </i><i>is </i><i>about </i><i>to </i><i>be </i><i>a </i><i>living </i><i>hell</i><i>…</i><i>she’ll get </i>
<i>what </i><i>she </i><i>deserves</i>.”
Everyone nodded in agreement. After dinner, we all dispersed to own rooms and devices. Hopefully this crisis was averted.
