Sebastian nodded without questions, just pulled out his phone.
“All set. Intern orientation is day after tomorrow at 10 AM.”
The morning arrived, and I got to the office thirty minutes carly, only to spot River and Vivian chatting away at the check–in desk.
When they saw me, their expressions shifted to shock, then Vivian smirked:
“Well well, if it isn’t Jenna. What, sleeping your way in wasn’t enough? Now you’re crashing actual orientation?”
I ignored her provocation and walked past the registration area.
There weren’t many MIT kids at TechFlow, but the six or seven there were all pointing and whispering about me.
Someone muttered: “She actually showed up after all her dirty business got exposed.”
Another person said loudly: “Shh, careful–her sugar daddy might get mad and kick you out.”
Theyughed in a cluster, eyes full of mockery and hostility.
I took a deep breath, swallowed my rage, and headed straight to HR.
The HR manager looked confused: “You are?”
I told him my name was Jenna Sterling.
He flipped through personnel files, frowning: “Sorry, we don’t have any onboarding notification for you.”
The MIT crewughed even harder:
“Jenna, did you not keep daddy happy? Howe you’re on the hire list but not in personnel files?”
“Better go make up with your sugar daddy–twenty minutes left, you can still fix this.”
I clenched my fists, nails digging into my palms. Ice ran down my spine, but I forced myself to stay calm:
“Get your personnel director down here.”
The manager looked stunned: “You think you can just summon our director? He’s busy–please leave if there’s nothing else.”
I stared directly at the HR manager, voice quiet but crystal clear:
“Tell him Jenna Sterling needs to see him. Now.”

The manager scoffed dismissively but walked toward the back offices.
“Director Martinez is famous for his temper. Meeting him? You’re screwed. What a joke…”
Everyoneughed harder, even betting on how many minutes before I got thrown out.
A few minutester, Director Martinez stormed out, still cursing:
“Can’t handle one simple thing! Any random person thinks they can see me!”
“Let me see which idiot wants to meet with me.”
Everyone waited for the show.
Martinez kept swearing until he saw me clearly. His anger instantly melted into a fawning expression:
“President Sterling! What brings you here!”
