Forget the 70

    Chapter 7

A weekter, I’d just finished breakfast and was about to take a nap on my king–size bed.

Suddenly, there was a bunch of noise andmotion from halfway down the mountain–voices shouting and sirens going off.

My heart started racing just as someone mmed through my suite door.

I scrambled to hide on the balcony.

    “Nobody here?”

“Mr. Sterling said she’s usually napping right now, never goes out. Keep looking!”

“If we don’t grab her, the Hartwell family’s gonna destroy us.”

    The Hartwell family?

Damn, ke wasn’t just some startup guy–he had a whole dynasty backing him up?

So I was definitely being held hostage.

But the day I figured it out, ke caught my hint when I acted all gold–digger in front of Caleb.

He only showed like 10% of how much he cared, then walked away.

Made Caleb rx and think he could test me longer by keeping me trapped up here.

Probably gave ke time to n his counterattack.

Though I had no clue what he was plotting.

I just knew that after we “broke up,” he’d been testing Madison too.

Acting cheap, dirty, bad in bed–and Madison stuck by him through all of it.

Plus Madison kept getting picked up by Caleb’s Maybach.

She was probably Caleb’s spy, nted next to ke to steal information or something.

All the weird shit finally made sense.

    I was breathing hard.

The guys inside were still tearing my room apart looking for me.

    I looked down.

The balcony was like a story and a half up, with bushes and shit below.

If I was careful and slid along the roof edge, I could probably make it without getting hurt, right?

I covered my slightly round belly and made a decision.

Only strong kids deserve to be my baby!

I stood up and was about to climb over the railing when sounds of fighting came from inside.

Then the balcony door flew open.

My heart was pounding like crazy. I didn’t dare turn around, just swung one leg over the railing.

Two strong arms wrapped around me from behind and pulled me back, along with a shout:

    “Raven!”

I gasped and nearly cried with relief.

ke spun me around and gripped my shoulders, panic in his eyes as he checked me over.

“Are you insane?! You were gonna jump?!”

He finally wasn’t wearing that delivery uniform.

ck button–down instead, hair styled to the side, showing off his handsome face.

Right now, those eyes were staring deep into mine.

    “Waaahhhhh-”

I started bawling, threw my arms around his neck and buried my face in his chest.

“ke, I didn’t want them to catch me.”

    “Crazy girl.”

He stroked my hair andughed, then scooped me up.

Walking toward the room, he lifted me a bit.

“What’ve you been eating, you little pig?”

    I pouted in his arms.

“Just the basics. Nothing as good as the DoorDash you kept sending me.”

    46.5%

ke raised an eyebrow. “The basics? You nearly bankrupted the guy.”

Knowing he was exaggerating, I didn’t argue. Snuggled into his neck and whispered:

    “ke, I’m having a baby.”
