Forget the 62

I have to say, these two flipped on each other so fast they could win Oscars for their performances.

I coldly pushed their hands away and said, “Sorry, but I’m not some saint. You guys beat me so badly that my eardrum got perforated. If my dad hadn’t gotten to me in time, I probably would’ve gone permanently deaf. You think you can just sweep all of that under the rug with a casual ‘sorry‘?”

“And you,” I looked down at Leo coldly, “if I’d known you were such a piece of shit, I never would’ve wasted three years of my youth on you. Stop begging me–you’d be better off figuring out how to get yourself awyer.”

Dad called the CEO of Ster Group directly and said firmly, “I need you to send two different people to work with me, or we can just call off this partnership entirely.”

    Leo waspletely devastated.

After all, this job was the pinnacle he’d fought tooth and nail to reach, and it was Leo’s biggest source of pride. But with one sentence from my dad, it all went up in smoke.

But he brought this all on himself.

Leo was practically ready to get on his knees for my dad. “Mr. Thompson, I was wrong! I’m begging you, please put in a good word for me. I really can’t lose this job. What you’re doing is basically cklisting me from the entire industry!”

Dad said coldly, “You’re a young man with terrible character who did this to my daughter. I’m sure your work ethic is just as worthless. Consider this me helping yourpany weed out bad employees.”

Ten minutester, Leo got a call from his department manager.

Furious screaming came through the phone. “Leo Stark! I gave you this golden opportunity because I thought you had what it takes, and this is how you screw me over?”

Leo didn’t dare even breathe loudly and just kept apologizing.

The department manager said impatiently, “You know what? Don’t even show your face at work tomorrow. If we lose the Thompson Group deal because of your bullshit, you’re gonna pay back every single dor we lose!”

    Then he hung up.

Since Sage was Leo’s referral intern, she got the boot too.

Leo desperately said to me, “Maya, you can see I’ve already paid the price. Just let me off the hook this once, please. I’m begging you–my mom’s health is terrible and I’ve got a younger brother…”

I couldn’t be bothered and just turned off my hearing aid, cutting out all external sound.

Then Dad had security drag these two incredibly annoying people out and hand them over to the police.

The next day, I’d recovered pretty well.

The police called me to the station to give my statement.

When I got to the police station, Leo was naive enough to think I was there to bail him out.

He said excitedly, “Maya, I knew it! You’re not that heartless. This was all Sage seducing me–you have to make sure yourwyer gives her the harshest sentence. She’s the one who ruined our love!”

I said mockingly, “Leo Stark, you’re absolutely disgusting. I saw everything that night–you were the one who couldn’t wait to carry Sage into the bedroom. You were the one who was desperate, weren’t you? Once a cheater, always a cheater. Leo, don’t expect me to forgive you with some smooth talk.”

Then I told the police everything that happened from start to finish.

A few dayster, the court held its first hearing.

After deliberation, Leo and Sage were convicted of assault and sentenced to two years in prison, plus they had to pay all my medical expenses.

I was staying in a luxury private room at a private hospital, using the best imported medicine, costing over thirty thousand dors a day.

Even when Leo emptied his entire savings ount, it only covered half the bill.

Don’t even get me started on Sage–she couldn’t even scrape together a thousand bucks.

The rest they’d have to work off doing hardbor in prison.
