gust.
“Just because you apologize doesn’t mean I’ll forgive you. I’ve had enough of you. Don’t ever let me see you again!”
Sonny’s whole aura was Connor through and through–he was seriously channeling his dad right now, copying him to a tee.
The way he spoke just then was legit intimidating, like he’d picked up Connor’s knack for making people nervous.
Tessa kept her head bowed, looking every bit the brokenhearted victim, but beneath it all, no one noticed the sheer hatred burning in her eyes.
Mnie’s expression darkened.
“You’re not even married to Connor yet and already rough with Sonny? What’s gonna happen if you really be his stepmom?” Mnie shot Tessa a re, her voice sharp.
Tessa blurted out, “I’ll change, I promise! You can have someone watch me if you want!”
Mnie stayed silent.
Connor finally cut in, “We’ll discuss thister. Mom, what brings you to Norhill?”
Mnie was still handling things for Paxton and the rest of the Ford family back in Jupiton, so
her suddenly turning up in Norhill clearly meant something else was going on.
“It’s nothing serious, just a little mess–up on your dad’s end,” Mnie said.
Connor’s gaze turned sharp.

At such a critical moment, any slip–up could seriously jeopardize the Norhill branch’s future.
When Tessa heard Mnie’s words, her lips unconsciously curled into a faint, cold smirk.
Xylia had nearly finished crafting the Tang suit for George Jennings, and Beatrice Spencer had taken time out of her day toe to Xylia’spany just to see it in person.
The moment Beatrice saw the Tang suit, you could tell from her face–she was seriously impressed.
The navy Tang suit was covered with twelve lifelike crane motifs, each one stitched with such care and precision that it was better than any luxury brand out there.
Beatrice Spencer gently traced the embroidered patterns with her fingertips and asked Xylia, “Ms. Sadler, did you do this embroidery yourself?”
Xylia shook her head.
“Honestly, I’m not that good with a needle,” she admitted with a smile. “I got one of Norhill’s top embroiderers to help out. Those twelve crane patterns stand for longevity and nobility- only the very best could do justice to it and make the suit special.”
Beatrice looked really pleased.
“Ms. Sadler, you truly put a lot of thought into this,” Beatrice said warmly. “It’s still early–how about I treat you to a nice meal?”
Xylia politely declined. “I’ve got some things to handleter, so maybe next time? Beatrice, if you think the suit needs any tweaks, just let me know anytime.”
But Beatrice acted like she hadn’t even heard Xylia turn her down.
“So if lunch’s out, how about dinner?” Beatrice pressed. “Will you join me after work?”
Xylia stared at Beatrice in silence.
‘Why is she so insistent on grabbing dinner with me?‘ Xylia wondered.
But seeing how persistent Beatrice was, Xylia couldn’t bring herself to turn her down.
She thought for a moment and said, “Alright, Beatrice. You can send me the addresster.”
“All set, then,” Beatrice replied with a warm smile.
With that, Beatrice headed out.

When Xylia got back to the office, she immediately told Josie what had happened.
Joshua was busy outside, so Xylia didn’t bother him about any of it.

Josie knew all about the bad blood between the Sadler family and the Jennings n. Knowing Beatrice was one of the Jennings, she started getting worried for Xylia.
“Beatrice probably knows your background,” Josie warned, frowning. “Tonight’s dinner could be a total setup–you better watch your back.”
Xylia just nodded in agreement.
At eight o’clock sharp, Xylia showed up at the restaurant for her dinner with Beatrice.
Beatrice was already waiting, looking perfectly at ease as she took her ce at one end of the table.
There was also some guy sitting next to her–a total stranger to Xylia. ‘Who’s he supposed to be?‘ she wondered.
