Tricked 145

Xylia had no impression of Zac at all.

He was deliberately making things difficult for her, which was totally uncalled for.

The store clerk quickly called the manager over.

Leon also heard themotion over here and walked over.

Today, he dressed inconspicuously and wore sunsses. Without close observation, it was difficult to recognize him as the renowned celebrity Leon.

He gently asked. “What happened, sis?”

Zac looked at Leon, puzzled, then his eyes lit up. “You must be Mr. Schultz, right?”

“Mr. Schultz? Screw you!” Leon had noticed early on that this pretentious man was making impudent remarks to Xylia, but the distance prevented him from hearing exactly what was being said.

He looked at Zac with a cold expression and asked, “Who are you?”

After being coldly rebuffed by Leon, Zac felt displeased, but knowing the other’s distinguished status, he would restrain his temper a bit. “I am Zac Lawrence, a former junior schoolmate of Xylia.”

After offering a brief exnation to Leon, Zac nced at Xylia with evident disdain before continuing, “Mr. Schultz, you are truly kindhearted. Even towards this so–called younger sister, you treat her so well and have brought her to the antique shop for a visit

At this point, he suddenly remembered something, his eyes lighting up as he asked, “Mr. Schultz, did you deliberately bring her here to provoke her? Are you nning to buy gifts for your real sister while letting this fake sister watch, making her crave and feel jealous?”

The more Leon listened, the more his expression darkened.

He did not approach Zac until Zac had finished speaking.

Leon stood 6’23” tall. Years of regr training had given him broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and an imposing physique. He was several inches taller than Zac.

Standing face to face, Leon’s presence was markedly moremanding than Zac’s.

Leon gestured toward the vase on the floor. “Did you break it?”

Zac was intimidated by Leon’s imposing manner and quickly waved his hand dismissively. “I didn’t break it. It was Xylia Schultz! She broke it!”

As soon as Zac finished speaking, the shop assistant brought over Peter Levine, the manager of the antique

    shop.

Peter observed the disorder at the scene and also noticed Marie standing nearby.

His eyes widened as he hurried to Marie and greeted her with utmost respect. ‘Greetings, Mrs. Carter.”

Marie withdrew her gaze from Leon and, with her head held high, looked at Peter with an air of arrogance. “Mr. Levine, this woman smashed things in your store. Shouldn’t she pay for them?

“Pay for it? Of course!” Peter followed Marie’s gaze toward Xylia, his face turning livid. “Miss, the vase you have broken is a five–hundred–year–old antique, valued at 2 million.”

Xylia let out a soft hum and looked at Peter. “Mr. Levine, is that right? You’re basing your judgment solely on Mrs. Carter’s ount and concluding that I deliberately broke this vase. Isn’t that a bit too arbitrary?”

Peter sneered. “Mrs. Carter is a regr customer here–do you really think she’d trick me? Can’t afford to pay for this vase! If you don’t have money, why are you even in an antique shop?”

Xylia wouldn’t back down. “When I entered your store, no one asked me to provide proof of funds. So why now? Are you trying to judge whether I have money just by looking at me?”

Xylia was talking with Peter while scanning her surroundings.

Observing Xylia’sposed demeanor, Peter began to question her identity, wondering if she was also a richdy.

Marie scoffed from the side, “A shameless fake–at a time like this, you still have to put on airs. Do you really think your fake brother will pay for you?”

As she spoke. Marie cast a disdainful nce at Leon.

“Mr. Schultz, right?” Marie let out a coldugh. “Even if you want to stand up for your fake sister, I am not afraid to offend you. My husband is a shareholder of the Sadler Group–do you really dare to cross me so easily?”

“Sadler Group?” Leon’s lips curved slightly, and beneath his sunsses, his eyes were cold. “I’ve heard that Matt Carter’s wife from the Sadler Group is a real vain freak–despite her age, she’s all the time dressing up and unting herself in public.”

Leon nced at Zac, who was standing beside Marie, and the sarcasm at the corner of his lips deepened. “If Matt Carter were to discover that his wife was using his money to pursue young studs, who do you think he would me first?”

Marie did not expect Leon to urately state her husband’s name.

Her deeply wrinkled face turned pale in an instant. “How do you know so much about the shareholders of Sadler Group?”

There were three shareholders in Sadler Group with the surname Carter, yet Leon was able to urately name Matt, her husband, which suggests he was very familiar with the shareholders of Sadler Group.

Marie wondered, “But didn’t Zac say that he is the son of the Schultz family? How could he have such a thorough understanding of matters concerning the Sadler Group?”

Leon did not deign to exin and simply turned to face Peter coldly. “Doesn’t your store have surveince cameras? Retrieve the footage and review it to determine who is responsible for the broken vase.”

Leon’s aura was fully unleashed. His tone remained calm, yet carried an inexplicable deterrent force.

Upon hearing about monitoring, Zac’s expression changed. He looked at Marie with some concern.

Marie, however, remained unconcerned after exchanging nces with Peter.

Only then did Peter say lightly. “The surveince cameras in our store broke down. Nothing was recorded.”

Leon raised an eyebrow. “All the surveince cameras broke down, so what evidence do you have to prove that my sister broke this vase?”

“There is no physical evidence, but there is witness testimony.” Peter pointed at Xylia and asked the staff member who had just gone to call him. “Did you see her break the vase?”

The shop assistant nodded promptly and said, “That’s correct. I personally witnessed this youngdy shatter

    the vase.”

Marie spoke imperiously. “Did you hear that? Do not im that we have wronged anyone. If you truly cannot afford to pay this sum. perhaps I can devise a solution for you.”

As she spoke, Marie approached Leon, scrutinizing him from head to toe with an appreciative look in his eyes. You’re a hottie. If you are willing to spend the night with me, I will pay this money for you.”

Xylia’s eyes widened as she couldn’t believe that the old witch had taken a fancy to Leon.

She went to observe Leon’s expression with great care. As expected, even with sunsses covering half his face, his exposed jaw was tense, as if suppressing anger.

She quickly stepped forward to shield Leon, lowering her gaze to give Marie a cold, sidelong nce. “You and that idiot Zac Lawrence are perfect together, so stop messing with my brother.”

As soon as she finished speaking, Leon’s voice could be heard from behind as he spoke on the phone. “Matt Carter, I will send you an address. Come retrieve your wife.”

Upon hearing Leon’s words, Marie was first stunned before finally beginning to mock, “As if you would know my husband! To be honest, my husband is already away on a business trip. It’s impossible for him to rush over

    here!

Xylia couldn’t believe how shameless Marie was, who openly brought her toy boy to the antique shop and shamelessly dered her husband’s name.

Upon hearing Marie say this, Zac, who had been timid, now raised his head again. “If you can’t afford to pay for it, then just say so. Why are you still pretending here? Mr. Levine, your store has already lost a vase worth 2 million. Are you still gonna take this lying down now?”
