Xylia had been away from Ford Mansion for two weeks. Over the past half month, she hadn’t been in contact with anyone from the Ford family. She had erased all traces of her presence the day she left.
When Sonny returned home from school that day, he was unusually dazed. It felt like it had been forever since he hadst seen Xylia.
The servant asked if he was hungry. He instinctively responded, “Make me a bowl of hearty porridge.”
He remembered that Xylia used to make hearty porridge for him, and he had asked the kitchen staff to learn how to make it. The servant nodded and left to prepare the porridge.
Sonny then began searching through the snack cab. The living room had a snack cab lined against the wall, filled with snacks specially prepared for Sonny.
In the past, Xylia would make snacks and ce them inside, so Sonny could indulge whenever he wanted.
But ever since the argument between Xylia and Connor about the divorce, the snacks in the cab hadn’t been restocked.
Earlier that day, some kids at school asked him for the cookies Xylia used to make. He promised to bring some tomorrow. But now, the cookies Xylia made were all gone.
Annoyed, he stormed into the kitchen. “I want more cookies. Make them, I want to bring them to school for my friends tomorrow.”
The servant was startled when Sonny suddenly barged in. After hearing him, she nodded and said, “Yes, Mr. Ford.”
In a better mood, Sonny went back to the living room, sat down, and started eating some chips he found in the snack cab.
Xylia used to tell him not to eat too many snacks like these. He found it annoying. Tessa was better–she never told him what to eat or do. If Tessa were his mother, he would be much freer. At that thought, his frustration eased a bit.
But when the servant brought the porridge and biscuits that tasted odd, his mood soured again. Sonny’s face quickly darkened, and he looked as serious as his father when angry.
The servant nervously asked, “Sonny”
“What you made tastes awful,” Sonny shouted. He angrily swiped the food off the table. The bowl shattered,
and the biscuits scattered all over the floor.
Climbing onto a stool, he stood above the servant, scolding her from above. The servant lowered her head, her face turning pale.
Connor had juste downstairs and saw the scene. He walked over with a stern expression and said, “What are you doing? Is this house a ce for you to throw tantrums?”

Sonny flinched at the sound of Connor’s voice, and his bravado faded.
Connor gave the servant a meaningful look, and the servant left.

This time, it was Sonny who had to bow his head. “We pay them to work, not to insult them. Where are your manners?” Connor’s tone was stern.
Sonny lowered his head further, not daring to speak.
Connor nced at the mess on the floor and understood what had happened. He softened his voice. “Your mother and I aren’t actually getting divorced. She’ll be back in a few days, and when she does, she’ll make food for you.”
“Who wants her back?” Sonny muttered. “I want Tessa to be my mom.”
“Sonny!” Connor said firmly.
Sonny lowered his head again, not daring to argue with his father. “You don’t need to worry about adult matters. Xylia is your real mother. Even if you don’t like her, you can’t deny that.”
Sonny looked at Connor. “Dad, does that mean Tessa can’t be my mom?”
Connor paused for a moment, then replied calmly, “You can acknowledge Tessa as your godmother. Your mom is just throwing a tantrum. She’ll be back soon. Do you understand?”
Sonny nodded, though he was still unhappy that Tessa couldn’t be his mother. But he still looked forward to the day Xylia would return.
He stoppedining and began picking up the biscuits scattered on the floor.

Three dayster. When Xylia arrived at Caperson Bistro, she received a message from Kaden saying that he had been dyed on the road and would be a few minuteste.
Xylia said it was okay. She entered Caperson Bistro, told the waiter her private room number, and followed him further inside.
The restaurant’s decor was antique, exuding an air of nobility and elegance. Wooden corridors were nked by lush greenery, with a few casual chairs scattered around. Walking further in led to the main dining hall.
‘Ms. Schultz, your reserved room is on the top floor, on the southern side. It offers a great view, and it’s perfect for enjoying the scenery,” the waiter exined.
As Xylia walked, she noticed something seemed to be happening with the waiter. He apologized and said he would inform the manager to escort her to the dining area.
Xylia nodded, not thinking much of it. She waited near the elevator, but before the manager could arrive, Tessa and Connor walked in.
Tessa walked in, arm linked with Connor’s. Both of them froze when they saw Xylia, clearly shocked.

“What are you doing here?” Connor spoke in surprise, his gaze naturally falling on Xylia.

Today, Xylia wore a white dress. The fitted dress perfectly showcased her figure, making her even more captivating. Her hair was gathered at the back of her head and secured with a hairpin.
Connor felt his heart skip a beat, his eyes falling on Xylia and unable to look away.
Tessa also looked at Xylia, trying to maintain a graceful smile, though her fist was clenched behind her back.
“How did you know we wereing here? It’s our mistake–we should’ve invited you, but we have something important to discuss today. Sorry, we can’t host you this time,” Tessa said with a polite smile, acting like the hostess.
Xylia nced at them indifferently but didn’t respond. She just didn’t feel like talking to them.
Tessa, seeing her words ignored, grew more annoyed and turned to Connor. “Connor, Xylia probably followed you here. She might want to apologize. But we have something important to do. If she causes trouble again likest time…”
Connor’s expression darkened, recalling the event at the party when the Sadler family’s assistant had announced they wouldn’t work with him because of Xylia.
