As soon as she entered, Connor grabbed her shoulders, checking to see if she was injured. “Are you okay?”
Xylia instinctively dodged Connor’s hand. When she looked up, she met his eyes, filled with concern.
In that moment, it felt like the past–whenever she was sick or injured, Connor would anxiously take care of everything for her. She quickly snapped back to reality and replied, “I’m fine.”
Sonny was sitting in the living room, looking at Xylia with disdain.
Why is she acting like that? She just wants to make Dad worry. She wasn’t hurt as badly as Tessa, Sonny thought.
“Mom, where did you gost night? Why are you wearing different clothes?” Sonny asked.
Sonny’s innocent voice drew Connor’s attention to Xylia’s outfit. His gaze darkened as he took her hand and led her upstairs. “Come with me.”
“Let go of me, I can walk on my own.” Xylia struggled but was dragged into the bedroom by Connor.
Connor closed the door and stepped toward Xylia, about to unbutton her clothes. Startled, Xylia jerked back violently. Her legs tangled, and she fell hard onto the floor.
Her arm hit the floor, nding directly on a bruise that hadn’t healed from two days ago.
But Connor paid no attention to her injury. “After Sadie took you away yesterday, what happened? Did someone do something to you?” Connor seemed out of his mind as he gripped Xylia’s wrist and began undoing her blouse.
Xylia’s face turned pale. She struggled violently, lowering her head to bite Connor’s arm with all her strength.
Connor cried out in pain, quickly throwing Xylia aside.
Xylia curled up, clutching her clothes tightly around herself.
The chaotic memories of yesterday resurfaced in her mind. A buzzing filled her ears, making it impossible for her to hear what Connor was saying. Tears streamed down her face uncontrobly.
“Xylia Connor had intended to scold her, but when he saw her like this, he froze. “What’s wrong with you?”
“Don’te any closer. Get away!” Xylia murmured.
Connor’s mind exploded. A troubling thought crossed his mind, but he couldn’t bring himself to finish it. He grasped Xylia’s shoulder. “Xylia, look at me. Were you bullied yesterday?”
Xylia reacted strongly to his touch. “Let go of me! Get away!”

“Xylia, Connor said, trying to calm her down. In her struggle, she bit his arm again, harder this time. Connor winced in pain but didn’t pull away, worried he might hurt her.
Xylia’s struggles only fueled Connor’s anger toward Sadie. He wouldn’t let her get away with it.
After Xylia calmed down, she was sent back to her bedroom. Once inside, Xylia’s expression returned to normal. She had been pretending.
She knew Connor too well. If she directly asked for a divorce, he would likely refuse. But Connor was a hypocrite. Like most men, he would never allow his wife to be tarnished.
Today, she put on this act to prevent Connor from losing control and trying to sleep with her. She was also preparing for the school anniversary. On that day, she would force Connor to file for divorce.
The Zinn Group went through a rough time these past few days. Not only was it caught up in sensitive social issues, but it was also under heavy pressure from both the Garcia Group and the Ford Group.
Unable to bear the pressure, Tyson sent Tessa to plead with the Ford Group.
Tessa arrived at the Ford Group, clearly familiar with the ce.
The front desk staff greeted her warmly as she walked in. “Mr. Ford is in a meeting right now. Ms. Schultz, please wait in Mr. Ford’s office.”
When Connor saw Tessa, he couldn’t help but feel a bit irritated.
“Connor.” Tessa said.
“You’re here because of the Zinn Group, right?” Connor asked.
Tessa followed Connor to the front of the desk and shook her head. “Tyson asked me to plead with you, but I know your decision won’t change, I’m just here to check on you.”
Hearing this, Connor actually felt a sense of relief. His favor toward Tessa increased sharply.
Connor, in a couple of days, Sonny’s school is holding an anniversary event. He wants me to go. What do you
think? Tessa said.
In the past, Connor wouldn’t have paid any attention to something like this. But when he thought of Xylia’s current condition, he felt it was better not to let her attend the event.
He nodded, “Alright. Sonny always likes you. Thanks for dealing with him.”
I also like Sonny very much,” Tessa said, watching Connor with focused attention as he worked. The thought that he would soon be her husband made her feel a bit smug.
Even though Xylia was the daughter of the Garcia family, Tessa was confident that she could take everything from Xylia and push her out.

On the winding mountain road, a Panamera sped upwards. Halfway up the mountain, a grand estate stood. The vintage buildings, surrounded by breathtaking natural scenery, made the white vis look like castles.
Joshua drove into the estate and parked inside the garage.
Aaron was in the garden watering the flowers. Hearing the engine, he put down the watering can and walked back to the main house.
As soon as Joshua entered the room, Aaron hurried after him andunched into a tirade ofints.
“You brat. Did I ask you to get that cup set for me? You chickened out at the auction. Do you think our family is short on money?” Aaron shouted.
Joshua looked at Eliza, who stood behind Aaron. “The cup set went for 600 thousand. Do you think I should have bid on it?”
600 thousand?” Eliza, with cucumber slices on her face, sat on the sofa and red at Aaron. “Aaron, are you asking for trouble? How could that thing possibly be worth 600 thousand?”
As a jewelry appraiser, Eliza had one rule for her family. They were never to spend more than an item’s intrinsic value.
Aaron felt slightly resentful and said, “Everything at an auction needs to be bid on, right? Besides, didn’t Joshua buy a painting for 600 thousand? Why aren’t youining about him?”
Eliza removed the cucumber slices from her face one by one. “That’s different. The painting Joshua bought was something my future daughter–inw liked. No matter the price, it was worth it.”
“That’s double standards.” Aaron really liked that cup set. Now that he couldn’t have it, he could only re at his son.
Joshua handed over the tea set he was holding. “Here’s a recement.”
Aaron opened the box Joshua had been holding all along, and to his surprise, it was a full cup set. It was even better than the one he had been eyeing!
His eyes lit up, and he quickly changed his tune. “Actually, I wasn’t that keen on the other cup set. My son has great taste,”
Aaron was very pleased with the cup set and immediately went to the side to arrange it carefully.
Joshua slumped onto the sofa, while Eliza looked at him. “Noelle has left,” Eliza said.
