Joshua sat in the back seat, lost in thought, when David spoke up, concerncing his voice. “Mr. Garcia, you
dad?” didn’t manage to get the ss cup set. How are you going to exin that to your
Joshua, resting his head on his hand and staring out the window, gave a small, amused smile. “If I’d spent 600 thousand on it, he’d have my head.”
“Wait, what?” David blinked in confusion.
He still didn’t get it.
Joshua didn’t bother exining.
With Eliza keeping a close eye, if Aaron ever spent more than something was worth, she’d practically skin him alive.
Joshua had already picked out another ss cup set for Aaron, one he was sure his dad would love.
“Mr. Garcia, we’ve got a tail,” David said suddenly.
Joshua nced in the rearview mirror and spotted the luxury car trailing them..
His expression hardened. “Pull over.”
Sadie, seeing Joshua’s car pull over, signaled her driver to stop as well.
Joshua stepped out and stood by his car; the sunlight, broken up by the branches overhead, scattered little flecks of light across his face.
His chiseled features looked frosty, and in his dark eyes, Sadie’s figure was clearly reflected as she walked over.
Sadie cleared her throat and handed him the ss cup set.
“This is for you. I saw you didn’t have much cash, so I bought it on purpose to give to you. Don’t get all emotional,” Sadie teased, her voice light.
Her tone was haughty, with a hint of condescension, as if she was tossing him a bone.
Joshua fixed her with a cold stare, a dangerous glint in his eyes that he could barely hide. “Next time you tail. me, you’ll be seeing your brother sooner than you think.”
His chilling tone cut through the gentle breeze, hitting Sadie like a p.
She stood there, rooted to the spot.
Joshua got in and the car sped off like an arrow.
Sadie’s knuckles went pale as she gripped the ss cup set, her eyes growing red with anger.
After a long moment, she smashed the ss cup set she’d spent 600 thousand on to the ground.
“What’s so special about him, anyway?” Sadie muttered.
He’s got no taste! He’d rather mess around with a tramp like Xylia than even nce at me!‘ she fumed.
The driver stood meekly by the car door, head lowered, not daring to step forward or offer a word offort.
Meanwhile, Xylia had just returned to Ford Mansion.
Mnie and Orion were sitting in the living room, both looking grim. Mnie’s face was especially darkened, like a storm cloud about to burst.
As soon as Xylia walked in, Mnie exploded. “You shameless slut! How dare you show your face here!”
Xylia was already numb to Mnie losing her mind like this.
She didn’t even bother responding, just headed straight upstairs to her room.
But Mnie snatched up a mug from the coffee table and flung it hard at Xylia.
Xylia ducked out of the way just in time.
The mug exploded, shards flying everywhere–one of them nicked her smooth calf.
Xylia gasped in pain as she nced down and saw blood streaming down her leg.
Before she could react, Mnie was already in front of her, shoving her phone in Xylia’s face.
“Is this you?” Mnie snapped, shoving the phone in Xylia’s face.
On the screen was a shot of Joshua from behind, his hands gently holding Xylia’s head as he leaned in to blow sand from her eye. From this angle, it looked exactly like they were kissing
Earlier, the only people at the auction entrance were Sadie and Tessa.
It was pretty obvious who’d sent Mnie the photo.
“Yes, that’s me, but my friend was just blowing sand out of my eye, that’s all,” Xylia replied coolly.
“You shameless bitch!” Mnie spat, her voice dripping with contempt.
She swung her hand and pped Xylia hard across the face.
Xylia couldn’t dodge in time–the blownded, and stars burst behind her eyes as pain red across her cheek.
“I told
you to divorce my son, but you refused! Now you’re cheating on him behind his back? What do you take him for? What do you take the Ford family for? You must pay for this hard until you learn your lesson!”
Mnie yelled..
Mnie jerked her chin, and the servants started walking toward Xylia.
“Make her kneel outside! She’s not setting foot in this house tonight!” Mnie barked.

Two burly servants lunged for Xylia, but she yanked out her pepper spray and sted them right in the face.
Two blood–curdling screams shot up, echoing through the room. The servants staggered back, clutching their eyes, and crashed to the floor.
Mnie hadn’t expected Xylia to fight back, and her rage boiled over.
“Xylia, you dare dodge?” Mnie screeched.
“Why are you punishing me for something I didn’t do?” Xylia shot back.
Before, Xylia had put up with Mnie because she was Connor’s mom. Even when Mnie tore into her, Xylia let it go for Connor’s sake.
But not anymore. She wasn’t going to be that foolish again.
“You’re still making excuses?” Mnie shrieked, her voice sharp as a whip.
She raised her hand again, clearly about to strike Xylia.
Orion finally cut in, his tonemanding. That’s enough!”
Mnie finally lowered her hand, but she was still ring furiously at Xylia.
Orion coughed twice, his face flushing from the effort.
His health had been getting worse these past few days, and he could feel his strength slipping away with each passing day.
He knew he had to get a lot of things done, and fast.
Once he finished coughing, the butler helped him over to Xylia,
“No matter what, this is between them as husband and wife. Why are you butting in?” Orion scolded Mnie.
Mnie looked like she wanted to protest, her face full of unwillingness.
But one sharp look from Orion made her fall silent.
“Xylia, I trust you.” Orion’s voice was gentle, his eyes full of warmth as he looked at her.
That same soft, loving gaze was just like always.
But Xylia wasn’t about to fall for his grandfatherly warmth again.

As Mnie brushed past Xylia on her way upstairs, she leaned in and whispered a warning in her ear, “Xylia, if you know what’s good for you, you’ll divorce Connor yourself. Otherwise, don’t me me for what I do next.
Xylia knew Mnie was at the end of her rope when it came to her marriage with Connor.
If Mnie really had a way to force them to divorce, Xylia would actually be more than happy to go along
with it.
Connor and Sonny got homete
Mnie wasted no time spinning a dramatic story about Xylia for Connor, but he didn’t buy into her
usations.
“Mom, I already checked. That guy and Xylia are just friends. The photo’s misleading because of the angle. You’re reading too much into it,” Connor said, his tone calm.
Even Sonny, who was usually quiet, stood up for Xylia for once.
“Grandma, Mom’s not like that. You’re ming her for something she didn’t do,” Sonny said, his voice steady.
Mnie stared at them in disbelief.
But Connor didn’t even spare her a nce he just took Sonny by the hand and headed straight for Xylia’s
room.
Xylia had just stepped out of the shower, dressed in a silk camisole nightgown. Her long hair was still damp, falling softly around her shoulders, and her fair, dewy face was veiled in a gentle mist, making her look especially delicate and pitiful.
When Connor walked in and saw her like that, something stirred inside him.
It had been a long time since they’d been intimate.
When Xylia saw Connor and Sonny walk in, she frowned, clearly annoyed. ‘Seriously? Can’t I get a moment of peace in this house?‘ she thought.
“Didn’t I lock the door?” Xylia muttered, exasperated.
“Mom, we did knock, but you didn’t answer, so we used the spare key,” Sonny said, sounding a little guilty.
The way Connor was looking at her made Xylia’s stomach churn with disgust.
She snatched up a nket and threw it over herself, shooting them a guarded look.
“Get out,” she snapped, not bothering to hide her irritation.
Sonny nced up at Connor, his eyes darting slyly before he turned to Xylia. “Mom, Dad needs to talk to you.”
