    Chapter 58 Was It Good?

    ARDEN

“How can you even watch that?” I asked Owen as I peeled an apple for him. “Aren’t you supposed to be resting?”

“Yeah–resting.” Owen smiled. “But I’m not here to rot. I watched it because it was blowing up on the Echo, and I wasn’t disappointed at all. It really was quite entertaining,” he teased.

I stabbed the apple with the small knife, leaving it in ce as I turned to Owen, ring at him. “Maybe you should just rot in

    your bed.”

Tessa burst intoughter, swiping the apple from my hands and continuing the task. “It’s so much fun teasing Arden.”

“But what we’re saying is true,” she added. “Most of the students have probably watched it. Some people are even asking for a copy, but there’s no way to reproduce it”

I turned to her and quietly sighed in relief. The site was quite foolproof when it came to distribution. You couldn’t even record the screen with another device, as it just showed up as a ck screen. The only person who had the means to possess a copy was none other than Headmaster Winters.

Despite <b>my </b>initial worries, I <b>had </b>a feeling that Cade stayed true to <b>his </b>word about not letting Headmaster Winters get a copy of the video.

“So, when’s the next live stream going to happen?” Owen’s question snapped me <b>out </b>of my thoughts, and I turned to him. with narrowed eyes.

He was already munching on the apple slices with an innocent expression stered on his face.

“What do you mean?” I asked, feigning ignorance.

“Well, your mark is gone. Cade’s score will be unbeatable for the <b>entire </b>year. You’ve also moved up in the ranks. So, I’m guessing this can happen again?”

I stubbornly <b>shook </b>my head and leaned against the wall. “It’s not going to happen again.”

“Why not?” Tessa asked, a hint of disappointment in her voice..

I turned to her, wide–eyed. “You too?”

She smiled sheepishly “Well, the two of you have great chemistry. I think it’s a waste to <b>end </b>it here,”

I signed and turned away. “Even though I benefited from this system once doesn’t mean that I want to do it again. Frankly, I still believe it’s more harmful <b>than </b>beneficial. I don’t want to indulge in it any longer.”

“I just hope to have a peaceful life <b>in </b>Elite now that I’m in a new faction and my virginity is gone. It was exhausting being marginalized by the rules and treated like a prize.

“But the Alphas are still approaching <b>you</b>,” Owen <b>chimed </b>in casually.

    1 pursed my <b>lips</b>. <i>He </i>was on a <b>roll </b>today, wasn’t het

“They’ll get tired of it soon.” I said dismissively, stretching <b>my </b>arms behind my head.

“What if they don’t” Tessa asked quietly,

I was at a loss for words for a moment, so I shook my head. “That’s not going to happen.”

Green and Tessa exchanged knowing nces but ultimately dropped the topic. I felt a bit stuffy, so I stood up and walked to

    – other side of the room–right by the door crossing my arms over my chest.

“Let’s change the subject,” I said, almost pleading

Just then, Owen smirked, and I sensed that I was about to be thrown <b>into </b>another awkward conversation.

    “How <b>was </b>it?” <b>he </b>asked, raising his chin high.

“How was what?” I asked through gritted teeth<b>, </b>even though I knew exactly what he was insinuating.

    -5 Free Coins

“Your sexy time with Cade,” he added casually. There are rumors <b>that </b>he’s the best in bed, but you’re the only one who was able to test that rumor. Was he any good?”

“Seriously, why are you asking these questions?”

Tessa smiled<b>. </b>mirroring Owen’s teasing gaze. “He’s going <b>to </b>pester you until you answer his question.”

I clicked my tongue and closed my eyes for a moment “Promise me you aren’t going to ask any more questions after I answer this one.”

Then, I opened my eyes and looked at the two of them, both still with those teasing glints in their eyes. “Promise me.”

I truly didn’t want to talk about it anymore!

After a pause, Owen finally nodded. “Alright, alright. I promise.

“You too.” I added, directing my gaze to Tessa.

She smiled and nodded. “Yeah, I promise, too.”

With that, I let out a deep breath<b>. </b>Well, it was time to speak about this and get it out of my system so I could officially forget

    it

“I was scared at <b>first</b>,” I started off. They listened intently, eyes wide open.

“But it wasn’t bad at all,” I muttered shyly<b>. </b>It felt ridiculous to be vocalizing these thoughts.

    “He wasn’t harsh.”

“He waited for me. He prepared me well. And afterward, he cleaned me up without saying anything.”

I paused. My fingers began to fidget with the hem of my <b>shirt </b>as my thoughts drifted. I truly didn’t expect someone like Cade to be so careful and patient.

But then again, maybe that tenderness wasn’t <b>meant </b>for me.

<b>Maybe </b>he was thinking about someone else.

    Honey

I shut my <b>eyes</b>, shaking the thoughts out of my head. There was no use spiraling into that mess. What had happened, <b>had </b>happened. It was already done.

Owen, of course, pletely ignored the momentary silence and the depth of my thoughts.

“All that is sweet <b>and </b>all, <b>but</b>–was it good?” he asked, <b>leaning </b>forward like the menace he was

I stared at him in pure betrayal. “Owen!”

Tessa pped his arm, snorting. “Don’t tease her anymore! You promised.”

Owen raised his hands defensively. “Tan <b>just </b>saying! The romantic stuff is cute, but that’s not what the students at Echo are wondering

“I don’t care about the students at Echo,” I snapped, feeling my cheeks <b>flush </b>again.

“I care,” Owen said with a mischievous grin. “For academic purposes, obviously?

“You’re impossible!” I turned to Tessa with a desperate look in my eyes. “Please control your patient.”

“Tetrying” she said, failing miserably <b>to </b>hold in her giggles.

“Okay, let’s be honest. Owen continued, tilting his head like <b>he </b><b>was </b>about to not? No judgment.”

liver profound wisdom. “Did it feel good or

    “Stop it-

“Just blink twice if it <b>was </b><b>a </b>ten out of ten-

    <b>Shut </b>up!”

Owen gasped dramatically, So it was a ten<b>?!</b>”

I groaned, feeling at aplete loss. “Why are you like this?”

“Because I care,” he teased, appearing entirely unaffected despite how ridiculous this all <b>was</b>. <b>“</b>And also because this is the most exciting thing that’s happened in the school since I answered that one question.”

Tessa finally stepped in. “Okay, okay. Let’s not push Arden. She shared already. <b>That’s </b>more than enough.”

Owen pouted, crossing his arms like a <b>child</b>. Not really. She didn’t rate him-

“Fine!” I snapped, exasperation wing at my throat. “It felt really good, alright? It was–ugh, I can’t believe I’m it was great. Happy <b>now</b>!!”

    Silence<b>. </b><ol><li>ll. brief silence. </li></ol>

    Well.

    Tessa suppressed a <b>smile </b>while Owen’s face split into <b>a </b>smug grin.

“Was that so hard?” he <b>said</b>, absolutely pleased with himself, looking like he just won a championship.

And just then, because the universe has a cruel sense of timing, the door opened behind me.

    “I didn’t <b>take </b>you for someone who’d kiss and tell

I turned around so fast I <b>nearly </b>gave myself whish.

<b>There</b>, leaning against the doorway like a walking nightmare, was Cade.

    saying this-

“Wh–what are you–how long have you been standing there?” I sputtered, the <b>words </b>tumbling out of my mouth in shock. *Long enough,” Cade said smoothly, not looking the least bit embarrassed. Manything, he looked amused, enjoying every second of this.
