Manny hit the basement floor with a heavy thud, and a scream of agony escaped her lips.
Then, a chorus of shouts and pained cries erupted from the basement.
Sure enough, it was just as Manny had guessed.

Fortunately, the Garzas had been locked in the basement for several days with only one meal and a bottle of water per day. They were physically and mentally drained, so their attacks were weak.

The moment Briar appeared, Manny threw herself at her feet as if she were a lifeline, clinging to her leg and refusing to let go.

Manny wanted nothing more than to kneel before Briar right there, sincerely crying and begging for leniency in exchange for full confession.
The Garzas watched speechlessly.
