Their base was practically a bunker–without someone leading the way, no one would ever find the
entrance.
Just then, a crisp female voice rang out.
“Toote. They’re already in.”
The words had barely left Theresa’s mouth when Susan screamed. A piercing, inhuman shriek echoed through the chamber as Theresa dislocated her entire arm with a single strike, then drove a brutal kick straight into her lower spine. The force of itunched her several feet back, mming her into the ground like a ragdoll.
“C’mon, Lottie, showtime,” Theresa saidzily, calling over her shoulder to Charlotte, who finally snapped to attention like she’d just woken from a dream, her eyes zing as she looked at Theresa.
<i>Oh</i><i>, </i>Ms. <i>Hall </i><i>really </i><i>is </i><i>something</i><i>! </i><i>She </i><i>nned </i><i>to </i><i>take </i><i>them </i><i>all </i><i>down </i><i>from </i><i>the </i><i>start</i>. <i>No </i><i>wonder </i><i>she </i><i>told </i><i>me </i><i>to </i><i>learn </i><i>from </i><i>her</i>. <i>If </i><i>it </i><i>had </i><i>been </i><i>me</i>, <i>I </i><i>would’ve </i><i>panicked </i><i>the </i><i>moment </i>I <i>sensed </i><i>something </i><i>off</i><i>–</i><i>blown </i><i>our </i><i>cover </i><i>and </i><i>made </i><i>things </i><i>worse</i>. <i>But </i><i>she </i><i>kept </i><i>calm</i><i>, </i><i>got </i><i>us </i><i>in</i><i>, </i><i>and </i><i>now </i>it’s <i>checkmate</i>. <i>Even </i><i>if </i><i>there’d </i><i>been </i>no <i>danger</i><i>, </i><i>her </i><i>cautious </i><i>approach </i><i>would’ve </i><i>avoided </i><i>unnecessary </i><i>conflict.Ms</i>. <i>Hall </i><i>is </i><i>a </i><i>frigging </i><i>legend</i><i>. </i><i>She’s </i><i>amazing</i>. I’m <i>her </i><i>number </i><i>one </i><i>fan </i><i>for </i><i>life</i><i>! </i>
Twin fireballs the size of volleyballs ignited in Charlotte’s hands.
Thanks to the Evoloid she’d been drinking, her fire ability had evolved to Level 2. At that level, the strength and intensity of her mes had increased exponentially–far beyond anything she’d been capable of before.
The moment the men saw the ze roaring in her hands, they all froze. An <i>ability </i><i>user</i>?!
“I thought you said they didn’t have powers!” Kurt, the scar–faced brute, paled in shock.
He was a fire–based ability user himself, but nowhere near Charlotte’s level. Watching her summon such overwhelming power left him stunned and speechless.
“<i>T</i><i>–</i><i>They </i>said they didn’t have powers!” stammered Gus, Susan’s nephew, now backing away in a panic. All his earlier smugness drained from his face.
He’d been fantasizing about having his turn after the others, especially with Charlotte. She wasn’t exactly a beauty, butpared to the broken women they’d kept here, she was a whole different league. He thought he’d get lucky. Little did he know she’d be an ability user.
<i>Boom</i><i>! </i>
mes surged around him in an instant.
“Aaaahhh!”
Ability–user fire didn’t go out easily. He dropped to the ground, screaming and rolling in agony as the others scattered, but the fire just kepting–wave after relentless wave, engulfing them all.

Kurt didn’t just have fire powers—he was speed–based, too. The second he realized how bad things were, he bolted for the nearest exit. He nearly made it to the escapedder when suddenly, a girl appeared beside him out of nowhere,
“Where you running off to?”
Kurt recoiled in response like he’d seen a ghost.
“I thought you were pretty into me carlier.” Theresa smiled sweetly and kicked him square in the chest. The blownded like a freight train. His chest caved with a sickening crunch, his heart seizing from the sheer force.
This strength… <i>This </i><i>isn’t </i><i>just </i><i>some </i><i>low</i><i>–</i><i>level </i><i>strength </i><i>ability</i>. <i>She’s </i><i>at </i><i>least </i><i>a </i><i>Level </i>10 <i>strength</i><i>–</i><i>type </i><i>ability </i><i>user</i><i>! </i><i>Who </i>the <i>hell </i>said <i>they </i>didn’t <i>have </i><i>powers</i>?!
But what shocked Kurt even more was what came next. He crashed to the ground and tried to crawl away, only for Theresa to reappear in a sh, right in front of him.
<i>What </i><i>the </i><i>hell </i>is <i>she</i><i>? </i><i>How </i><i>many </i><i>abilities </i><i>does </i><i>this </i><i>woman </i><i>have</i><i>?! </i>
“Eat human flesh, hmm?” Theresa grabbed his cor and yanked him up like a stray dog. “I always figured only zombies eat people. You want to be one of them that bad?”
Kurt tried to speak, to say no, but white–hot pain exploded through his body. Every bone in his frame shattered like ss. He copsed into a twitching heap, his skeleton destroyed.
Just then, from the opposite end of the tunnel, sounds echoed.
A hatch opened overhead, and several figures descended.
“Theresa!”
Lucas and Theron had arrived. As they came down and took in the scene, they saw Theresa standing in the middle of the tunnel, surrounded by the charred, lifeless bodies of the predators who’d once ruled the underground.
Minutester, everyone had been brought up to the surface. The seven or eight women they rescued were still in shock, unmoving and trembling, too broken to respond.
“Goddammit!” Theron’s face darkened as he looked around. “My camp’s been starving this whole time, and even we didn’t stoop to eating people. These b*stards–these sick b*stards–they don’t deserve to be called human!”
Theresa nced at him. “You’re not exactly known for your morals either, big guy.”
Theron turned to her, dead serious. “I kill people. I don’t eat them. There’s a difference. I’ve got standards.”
