Amber Skye stammered nervously, "You... you''re leaving now?"
I gave her a nod. "Got business to handle outside."
Her expression darkened.
She was innocent by nature and had figured I''d stick around this tiny mountain vige forever.
"Will you...e back?" she whispered.
I shook my head. "Can''t say. Might return, might not."
I could see the feelings she had for me clear as day, but Mabel Sean was the only one in my heart.
"Really grateful you carried me out of that forest. Got a gift for you to pay you back," I said.
I pulled out a book filled with alchemy techniques.
The methods were basic stuff, but they came straight from the Divine Alchemist Pavilion.
For Amber, it was more than she''d ever need.
"Time for me to go," I told her quietly.
Amber gripped her clothes tight, staying quiet for ages.
I wasn''t the soft type anymore, so I didn''t hang around and headed for the exit.
"Can I get your phone number?" Amber yelled out suddenly.
I stopped for a beat, then turned back and scribbled down my digits.
Once that was done, I walked out of the mountain vige.
After resting up for three days, my wounds were pretty much healed.
All the Martial Saints were hanging around that big spiritual stone mine these days and wouldn''t notice me, so I caught a flight to Capital City.
I made my way to the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets in Capital City.
——
Inside the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets, Vivi Eve strutted around like he owned the ce, same as always.
Right then, Mason snuck up behind him and tapped his shoulder.
"Who the hell is touching me...Mason...Mason!"
"Shut it!" Mason cut him off with ice in his voice.
Vivi pped his hand over his mouth, but the terror in his eyes was obvious.
"Where''s your old man?" Mason asked.
Vivi stammered, "In... in the back."
"You''reing with me to find him," Mason said, hauling Vivi toward the vi behind the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets.
——
I dragged him to the vi''s main hall.
When our eyes locked, Aiden Eve looked shocked.
Everyone knew all the Martial Saints were hunting for me now, putting my life on the line.
But the more dangerous someone got, the scarier they became, since nobody could predict what wild stuff they might pull.
"Mr. Raymond, you here for the sword? Got it ready for you. Let me grab it right now," Aiden jumped in.
He rushed into a room and came back carrying a bronze sword.
I took the weapon, now painted bright red all over.
When I fed my spiritual power into it, weird lights started dancing across the de.
"Pretty good," I said, meaning it.
"You''re not exactly a saint, but your artifact skills are solid."
Aiden gave me a nervous smile, keeping his mouth shut.
"Need one more favor today. Handle this for me, and I''ll owe you one," I said.
Aiden sped his hands together quickly. "Wouldn''t dare refuse, it would be my..."
"Cut the crap. Need a magical artifact that''ll hide my face and aura," I interrupted him.
Aiden''s face shifted.
He got what I was after right away.
But Aiden, who was burning with hate for me, didn''t want to help.
"Mr. Raymond, it''s not that I won''t help. Just don''t have that kind of magical artifact here because..."
"Bull," I cut him off again.
I got to my feet slowly and said coldly, "Aiden Eve, you''re a master artifact maker, and the Pavilion of Heavenly Secrets matches the Divine Alchemist Pavilion. How can you not have something like that?"
Aiden stumbled over his words, speechless.
"What, hoping the Martial Saints take me out so you can get your revenge?" I asked, eyes narrowing.
Aiden went white with fear. "No such thought!"
I let my killing intent leak out.
I stared him down and said, "Give me that magical artifact now, and I''ll owe you a favor. Make me take it by force, and I''ll kill you."
Aiden went quiet.
After thinking it over, he nodded. "Fine, give me a second."
He turned and headed back into the room.
Started tearing the ce apart looking for something.
A few minutester, Aiden walked out holding a hat.
The thing looked ordinary enough, but it carried the aura of the Great Dao.
"This thing''s called Thousand Faces. Got it by luck," Aiden said seriously.
I took the hat.
It was kind of like the one Zendaya Andrew had given me before, but these two were inpletely different leagues.
After grabbing the hat, I stuck it on my head right away.
For a split second, I felt like the Great Dao got messed up, and my own aura wentpletely hidden.
Not just that, but with Thousand Faces on, my face was covered too.
Anyone looking would just see a thinyer of mist, couldn''t make out my features at all.
"Thanks," I put the hat away and bowed to Aiden.
Aiden looked ttered and bowed back quickly. "Too kind."
I put on Thousand Faces and walked out of there.
——
After Mason left, Vivi couldn''t wait to run over.
"Dad, he''s already grabbed so much stuff from us! Now he''s taken Thousand Faces too, this is way too much!" Vivi said angrily.
Aiden sat there without saying anything for a long time.
"Dad, you nning to just let him get away with this!" Vivi said furiously.
Aiden looked at Vivi and asked, "What do you want to do?"
"What do I want to do? Ha, I''ve got plenty of ways to deal with him!" Vivi said nastily.
"I''ve been getting tight with Garcia Colemantely. I''ll call him right now and spill everything!"
With that, Vivi pulled out his phone and dialed Garcia Coleman.
