Chapter 105
Chapter 105
Aria’s POV
A low, angry growl slipped from my throat.
Damn it. Grayson was so blinded by rage and jealousy, he couldn’t see that this was exactly the trap i had set for us!
“Alright then, let’s do this, little girl.” Otto’s voice waszy and mocking. “Do what your Alpha boyfriend says. The sooner you get better, the sooner he’ll leave us all alone.”
I stood there, stiff and frozen. After a moment of hesitation, I finally stormed over to the treatment chair and sat down hard.
It wasn’t like I had a second choice.
Otto strapped the same helmet on me asst time, then turned to Grayson and I.
“Can we have some privacy? I need to concentrate on this.”
But Grayson sat right down in the chair, his gray icy eyes locked on Otto’s. “No. I’m staying right here. I’m watching you do this.”
Otto’s shoulders stiffened. “There’s nothing much to see really. And you being here is a distraction—”
“Then find a way to get over it.” Grayson’s voice was sharp. “And if anything goes wrong during this treatment, you’re dead.”
Otto’s jaw tightened. He exchanged a quick look with I before finally giving in. “Fine. If you insist.”
With Grayson in the same room, I felt a little more at ease. I leaned back in the chair and slowly closed my eyes.
That same heavy drowsiness wrapped around me, pulling me down fast.
Soon, I slipped into a deep sleep.
Just likest time, I saw my wolf again. She was still bound by those cruel, jagged chains, but now she looked even weaker.
I ran to her, my chest aching, and pulled her into my arms. She licked my hand and rubbed her furry head against my chest, urgent, restless. I could tell she was trying to tell me something. But she couldn’t put into words.
I kept drifting in the darkness. Then another vision came–this time, it was my mom.
It was a different memory, and I was even younger than in thest one. I hadpletely forgotten this had ever happened.
In this new memory, I was hiding behind a door, listening to my grandmother and my mother arguing fiercely on the other side.
16
…You can’t do this to her, Jolene!” My grandmother snapped. “Everything is rightfully Aria’s. You can’t take it away from her!”
There was the sound of pacing. Fast, restless.
My mom sounded anxious and irritable. “You think I don’t want Aria to have it? You think I don’t want her to grow up like a queen, with endless wealth and power, respected by everyone? But those thingse with a price. It’s too fucking dangerous for her!”
“How do you know it’s dangerous? You haven’t even tried it!”
“Don’t be stupid. Of course I it’s dangerous! I know exactly what kind of people live in that court–they’re all hungry wolves who would eat Aria alive. If my daughter has to grow up in a ce like that, I’d rather she have nothing at all!”
20:48 Tue, 12 Aug
But my grandmother wouldn’t back down. Her voice rose again. “No, Jolene. This is just you being selfish. And a coward! You don’t think you can do it, so you also don’t believe in Aria. But I know that little girl is stronger than you. In fact… she’s going to be an amazing female Alphat
A sharp crash. Something broke. Then there’s my mom’s voice, almost shouting:
“How the hell do you know? How could you possibly know? Aria’s only 3 years
soldi”
The shouting and the sound of things breaking scared me like hell. I burst into loud sobs.
The door flew open the next second. And my mom rushed out, picking me up.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, baby…” She pressed her face to mine, and I realized she was crying too. “But I have to put your safety first. You won’t me me for that, right?”
I couldn’t answer her.
The memory faded away, and t sank back into sleep.
I didn’t know how much time passed before my eyelids finally felt heavy but movable. I blinked myself awake.
“You’re up?” Otto asked. He tossed an empty syringe into the trash. “How do you feel?”
I shifted in my seat, and a surge of energy shot through my whole body–just like after the first session.
“I feel… energized.” I said.
“Good. That means it’s working,” he said. “Both the injection and the equipment are pushing you in the right direction.”
1 rubbed my temples, frowning. But weirdly, I still couldn’t wake my wolf.
When I lifted my head again, I caught Otto staring at me. His eyes were bright, intense… almost feverish. Like he was seeing me for the first
time.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” I frowned. It’s damn creepy.
He gave a slow grin. “Nothing. Just… during treatment, it’s normal to get memory shbacks. Do you remember what you dreamed about this time?”
I tried to recall, but everything was hazy now. “I… I’m not sure. I think I saw my wolf. And my mom. I vaguely remember… a fight? But I can’t remember with who. Why? Are those memories important? Do they matter for the treatment?”
“You shouldn’t force yourself to remember,” he said quickly. “Pushing too hard could damage your neurons again and undo the progress. Just let it go.”
I nodded and nced around the room, only to realize Grayson was gone. And so was I.
“Where is he?” I asked immediately.
Otto snorted. “How the hell should I know? Maybe he went to the bathroom.”
“And I?!”
“This isn’t a missing persons bureau. Stop interrogating me,” he said mockingly.
Shit! That woman must have gone with him.
1 practically jumped out of the chair and bolted out the door.
The Red Stone Pack soldiers were still on guard in the hall. When they saw me, they immediately saluted. I asked if they’d seen Grayson, and they pointed me in a direction.
I followed it until I reached the meeting room.
Through the ss, I saw Grayson and I standing close together, backs to me. They were
talking
Thated to admit it, but they do look perfect
together.
He was tall, handsome, radiating that untouchable Alpha presence cha was elegant and stunning, every inch the noblewoman she was bom
to be.
A sharp pang hit my chest as I looked
them.
I’d inherited my mom’s looks, and I knew I wasn’t ugly–in fact, I was kind of pretty. But still, people never stopped saying I wasn’t good enough for Grayson. Because I didn’t have the noble air he needed. Because I was just a small–town girl from apletely different world.
I hated hearing it. But deep down… I knew they were right.
Right now, I couldn’t help envying I–she was born into a noble family, handed everything I didn’t have from the start.
Why couldn’t I have that?
And then…I saw them leaned closer.
She tilted her head up toward him, inching forward, and for a second it looked like they were about to kiss-
FUCK!
I stormed in, mming the door open.
They both startled, turning toward me.
“What the hell are you doing?!” I demanded, fists clenched.
I raised a brow, looking shocked. “What’s wrong, Aria? I was just showing Grayson some photos from my gallery.”
I froze. That’s when I noticed the phone in her hand. Maybe I had been wrong about the kiss.
She nced at my flushed face and smiled faintly. “Oh, don’t tell me you’re the type to get upset just because we’re talking. A healthy rtionship isn’t like that, Aria.”
I did not need this woman giving me rtionship advice.
“A healthy rtionship also doesn’t have an ex–wife constantly interfering,” I snapped, then turned to Grayson, my voice firm. “If you still see me as your girlfriend, then stop talking to her. And definitely don’t meet with her alone!”
Grayson frowned slightly, but before he could say anything, I spoke up again. “What are we, in kindergarten? That requirement is very childish, Aria.”
“Shut up. I’m not talking to you,” I bit out
She wasn’t fazed at all. She even gave me a cold littleugh:
Chapter 105
“You keep insisting you don’t need to be ‘polished. But look at your manners, Aria. Ady raised in high society would never behave like this-
Shit, she went after my background again. She just knew where to hit me.
Rage and humiliation surged up inside me. “You’re right. I’m nothing like you. stop bringing it up!”
I spun on my heel and stormed out.
I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth. So shut up and
“Aria!” Grayson’s sharp voice followed me, but I ignored him. I just wanted to be alone.
I ran out of the building, aimless. Tears were streaking down my cheeks.
Right now emotions were a mess. There were hurt, helplessness, fear…
But most of all. Rage.
I had never hated a woman more. And the worst part was–my own boyfriend seemed to trust her very much.
I was halfway to the front gate, wondering if I should just leave this ce entirely
and
let Grayson y happy family with his ex-
When I heard amotion.
Someone was sprinting toward me, panic and breathless. Behind his back in the near distance, nurses and soldiers were chasing him.
It was Malik.
“Help… help me!” he gasped, grabbing my arm.
I didn’t even have time to ask questions. I just shoved him into the bushes. Secondster, the pursuers reached me.
“Where is he? I saw him run this way!” a male nurse shouted.
“That strange guy? I saw him head toward the main building,” I said, giving them the wrong direction.
They eyed me suspiciously. One nurse barked, “Bullshit. I could’ve sworn he went into those bushes-‘
“Are you questioning me?” I cut him off sharply. “We all know Alpha Grayson has taken over this ce, and I’m his girlfriend. Do you really think I’d lie to you?”
Their expressions changed slightly. Clearly, I wasn’t that powerless patient anymore–I was now the Alpha’s woman. I represented authority and power.
After a beat, one soldier muttered, “…Do what Miss Collins says. Search the main building first.”
They saluted me and hurried off in that direction/
I waited till theypletely disappeared before turning back and pushing through the bushes.
Malik was crouched there. He let out a long breath of relief.
“Thank god,” he said, wiping sweat off his forehead. “I thought I was dead for sure.”
“Where the hell have you been? I thought they’d already caught you!” I hissed.
“Of course not. I’m quicker than they think.” He smirked. “I found a ce to run some tests on that vial. And guess what? That drug has
