“I don’t have to hear this,” Emery muttered as Logan guided her into the study. He had only juste from the pool, his hair still damp, and the faint scent of soap clinging to him after a quick shower.
She guessed I’s presence had something to do with Gabriel. And since Logan hadn’t mentioned anything about his family to her, Emery assumed she still didn’t have the right to know.
“You’re my wife,” Logan replied curtly as they stepped inside. His eyes shifted to I, who was already waiting with a folder in hand. “Go on.”
I gave a short nod and opened the report. “As you instructed, I followed up. The Dwight family has taken a major hit overnight. Their projects in Asia have already been canceled, and the bacsh is spreading fast. This morning, the board of directors called an emergency meeting. From what I gathered, the majority is leaning toward recing Samuel as CEO in order to protect thepany’s image.”
Emery turned her eyes to Logan, studying him carefully. She never asked him to get involved with Samuel’s family. It seems that he just made a move on his own. However, how could Emery me him? Samuel had been… a headachetely.
“However…” I paused, ncing between the two before continuing. “It’s not only the Dwights who were affected. The Arden Family has also taken a hit.”
“The Ardens?” Emery frowned, confused.
“Yes,” I confirmed. “Much like the Dwights, many of their suppliers pulled out overnight. The losses won’t be enough to bankrupt them, but the damage will be noticeable. It would be hard for them to bounce back from their current predicament. We have our people follow them around. We will wait for retaliation, then we
strike.”
“Good,” Logan said tly as he lowered himself into the chair behind his desk. “Continue pressing them. Keep them upied.”
I nodded and stepped forward, handing Logan a tablet. “These are the updates I gathered about the rogues fromst night. They were instructed by Gabriel. We found them in an abandoned warehouse as high as a kite.”
That got Emery’s attention. How could werewolves be affected by drugs? However, she continued to observe the two.
“How’s Gabriel?” Logan asked.
“He woke up this morning,” I answered. “His face is badly swollen, but he still insisted on speaking with you.”
Logan’s jaw tightened. “Tell him if he doesn’t stop, I’ll make sure he ends up somewhere he won’t like.”
“Understood,” I replied. She hesitated for a moment, then added, “Also….”
Logan’s eyes
flicked up. “Also?”

“He insisted that you speak with His Majesty. Apparently, there’s a lot of excitement about meeting the Madam.” I’s gaze shifted deliberately to Emery. “They-”
Before she could say more, Logan cut her off. “You may leave now.”
“Alright,” I said with a shrug. On her way out, she tossed Emery a yful wink. Emery shook her head, unimpressed, before turning back to Logan.
“You moved against the Dwights?” she asked.
Logan didn’t bother lifting his eyes from the tablet. “Don’t you want me to?”
Emery swallowed. This was her family’s mess, her business, but she couldn’t exactly tell him to stop. “It’s fine.”
“Talia Arden harmed you because of Samuel Dwight,” Logan said. His eyes were still fixed on the screen, but Emery caught the faint curl at the corner of his lips. “The two deserve to suffer together.”
“Then I suggest you stop doing that,” Emery countered.
That made him pause. He finally lifted his eyes. “Stop? You want me to stop targeting the Dwight Family? Is it because of Samuel?”
Emery hesitated, nerves pricking at her as she saw the tension in his eyes. Still, she forced herself to continue. “I want them to stay together,” she exined. “So they stop dragging everyone else into their mess. If you keep pressing them, they’ll only turn on each other. Wouldn’t it be better to leave them locked in each other’spany forever?”
Logan leaned back, interest apparent in his eyes. Seeing this, Emery continued. “They can only be together forever. Only they deserve each other’spany.” Isn’t this the best revenge? Being with people that you
hate?
“I didn’t know you can be quiet scheming,” he smirked.
“You’re giving me too much credit,” Emery said, her tone steady. There was a reason she wasn’t focused on destroying Samuel and his family all at once, even after everything they had put her through. To her, dragging them down quickly would be too easy, too merciful.
“Cutting everything off in an instant would give them an escape,” she continued. “They’d panic, maybe cry about their losses, but eventually, they’d adjust. People like them always find a way to rebuild when the pain is quick. Like cockroaches.”
Her eyes hardened as she exined. “But taking it slow? Forcing them to live with the weight of their mistakes every single day, watching their power shrink, their reputation rot piece by piece, that’s worse than death. That’s the kind of life they can’t escape. And it’s exactly what they deserve.”
“And here I thought you were too… fragile for my world,” he suddenly said.
That made her frowned. “What do you mean?” she asked.
“I’m sure you were wondering about Gabriel,” he said. “And why I didn’t tell you anything about my family.”

Emery said nothing in response. She was curious, of course, but she knew better than to push. If Logan wanted her to know more, he would tell her in his own time. Forcing it wouldn’t get her anywhere. “You already told me he’s your biological brother. You don’t have to tell me anything else.”
“Half brother,” Logan corrected. His expression darkened slightly. “Gabriel is the Alpha King’s younger brother.”
Emery’s brows lifted. “Then you—”
“I am the Alpha King’s younger half brother as well.”
The words sank in, and Emery stilled. Alpha King. She didn’t need to ask who that was. She had read enough at the pack house, in notes and scattered records, to know the name Ehlias.
Ehlias was no ordinary ruler. As Alpha King, he held authority over all the packs, his wordw across territories. He was known as a strong leader, but what made him stand apart in the histories was his nature.
It was said that he was generous, forgiving, and far more merciful than most Alphas ever dared to be. Many stories painted him as fair to both allies and enemies, a king who valued bnce and loyalty above cruelty.
“You see…” Logan said slowly, his voice low enough that Emery had to focus to catch every word. “I am the bastard son of the previous Alpha King.”
He didn’t look at her. His gaze shifted to the window, the ss reflecting his expressionless face. “I wasn’t born from love. I was born from something unwanted… something forbidden. My mother was never meant to be touched, let alone carry his child. And when she did, I became a stain no one wanted to acknowledge.”
His jaw tightened, his hands curling into fists at his sides. “They didn’t raise me in a pce or under the protection of a pack. No, they locked me away in an orphanage for werewolves, an institution meant to deal with children like me. Castoffs. Unwanted bloodlines. They called it a shelter, but it was closer to a cage.”
For a moment, Emery didn’t know what to say. She had already suspected that his family was moreplicated than hers, but now…
The sudden vibration of her phone cut through her thoughts. ncing at the screen and seeing James’s name, she answered right away. On the other end, James’s voice came through. “Emery–something’s happened to Father!”
