Before Emery could even process what was happening, something moved past her in a sh, so fast her eyes barely registered it. The blur cut across her line of sight, and in the next heartbeat, Gabriel’s back was mmed hard against the ss wall.
His wine ss slipped from his hand and shattered against the floor, red liquid streaking across the tiles like blood. Emery blinked, stunned, realizing someone had pinned him there, his shoulders pressed tightly against the window as the city lights glowed behind him. “Logan?”
How could anyone move that fast? Emery’s eyes widened, her mind struggling to catch up with what she had just witnessed. She didn’t even know how to react. She had seen movies before, stories about werewolves and vampires. In those, it was always the vampires who had that kind of impossible speed. But what she had just seen… that kind of speed was real, and it was terrifying. Was this the actual speed of a werewolf?
“How dare you show your face in front of me!” Logan hissed.
“Hey- calm down-” Gabriel said as his back hit the ss hard enough to rattle the frame, and the wine streaks on the floor spread into wider red smears. Logan’s hand pressed firmly against Gabriel’s chest, pinning him there like a ragdoll. “You are being too….hey! Will you calm the fuck down!?”
Seeing Logan balled his other hand, Emery frowned.
“Logan!” Emery called quickly, stepping forward. “Calm down. There are… others outside.” Her eyes flicked to the hall beyond the disys. She could still hear music and chatter carrying over from the ballroom. If anyone decided to wander into this section now, they would see everything.
Logan didn’t answer. His face was close to Gabriel’s, lips curled back in a low hiss. “Did you really think I wouldn’t kill you after what you did?” Logan said as his grip tightened, and the ss behind Gabriel groaned. A visible crack split outward from where Gabriel’s shoulder de pressed against it.
For the first time, Emery caught a change in Gabriel’s expression. The smugness slipped, reced with a flicker of tension in his jaw. Then another sharp crack spider–webbed across the ss, the fractures spreading out like jagged lines.
Emery’s stomach tightened. Was Logan about to throw him out? They were on the thirtieth floor. She knew enough about werewolves to know they weren’t immortal. They healed fast, but bones still broke, and a fall from this height would kill anyone.
“Logan, stop!” Emery stepped closer, her hand half–raised as if she could somehow reach him through the fury running down his arms. “I’m fine. He didn’t hurt me.”
Gabriel turned his head slightly, his voice strained but mocking. “Listen to your wife, Logan. I only came here to say hello to my sister–inw,”
However, Logan’s grip only dug deeper into his chest. The muscles in his forearm flexed, and the sound of another crack echoed as the window ss buckled harder under Gabriel’s weight.
Emery’s breath caught. This was seconds away from bing deadly. “Logan… please.”
“What are you doing here?” Logan’s voice was sharp, his breath hot against Gabriel’s face.

Gabriel coughed lightly, still trying to keep his mocking tone even with Logan’s hand crushing his chest. “I told you. I came to talk.”
The ss groaned again as Logan pressed him harder against it. A loud crack shot out like a gunshot, the fractured lines spreading wider across the windowpane.
“Fine… fine…” Gabriel lifted his hands slightly, his smirk thinning. “Elder Brother wanted to talk to you.”
Emery’s brow furrowed. Elder brother? She blinked, her mind stumbling over the words. Logan had told her he grew up in an orphanage. What brother was Gabriel talking about? She immediately realized that Logan’s family dynamics might be moreplicated than hers.
She slowly moved closer, her hand reaching toward Logan’s arm. “Logan… calm down.”
Logan’s jaw clenched so tightly she could see the muscles in his cheek twitch. Then, with one swift motion, he yanked Gabriel away from the ss and threw him onto the floor. The impact rattled the tiles. In an instant, Logan was on top of him, straddling his chest, his fist already cocked back.
“I won’t kill you,” Logan growled, his eyes zing. “But don’t think for a second that means you’re leaving here unscathed.”
His fist came down, crashing into Gabriel’s face with a sickening thud. Emery flinched at the sound, her stomach twisting as the sharp crack of bone followed. Blood sttered across the polished floor.
Logan didn’t stop. Another punchnded, then another. Each hit shook Gabriel’s head against the tile, and the smirk he had worn so easily earlier was gone, reced with blood pooling from his nose and split lip.
“Did you really think,” Logan snarled between blows. “That I would let you walk away after what you did to my wife?” His fist smashed down again, the cartge in Gabriel’s nose crunching under the force. “If you weren’t my brother, you’d already be dead!”
Emery hovered a few steps away, her fists tight at her sides, watching nervously as Logan’s rage poured out in every punch. She knew Gabriel wasn’t defenseless, he was a werewolf too, but right now, pinned under Logan’s weight and fury, he looked nothing like the smug, untouchable man he had been minutes ago.
“Emery… Emery, are you alright?”
Her thoughts snapped back when she heard Lucille’s voice. She turned quickly, relief flooding her chest. “Lucille!”
Lucille reached her side, her expression tense. “I’m sorry, I—”
“Logan, he-” Emery’s words caught in her throat. She didn’t know how to exin it. Part of her wanted to rush over and pull Logan away, to stop him before things went too far. But another part of her… another part wanted Gabriel to feel every bit of the pain he deserved.
“Thank the goddess you’re alright,” Lucille said before she turned her attention to Logan. “Don’t worry about them, we already sealed the area.”
For a moment, Emery was at a loss for words. Why was Lucille paying more attention to her than to the brutal fight happening between Logan and Gabriel? Then Lucille’s eyes shifted past her, nding on Samuel’s unconscious body sprawled across the floor.

“Oh… do you want me to take care of him?” Lucille asked casually, as if it were nothing.

Emery’s eyes widened. “Take–take care of him?” Did Lucille notice Logan beat Gabriel up? Why was she focused on other things?
“Yes,” Lucille said without hesitation. “Throw him out of this ce. By tomorrow-”
“Please don’t kill him,” Emery blurted out. She disliked Samuel, hated what he had done, but not to the point of wanting him dead. In her mind, being alive to face humiliation and consequences was far worse than a quick death. “I mean-”
“What are you even thinking?” Lucille shot her a strange look. “I wouldn’t kill him. I’d just throw him out. Literally.”
