Envy
All of this training and preparation to meet the Alpha Kings has already gone out the window. I quickly jumped through the shower and thought ‘fuck it’ as I grabbed my usual day attire. If I’m going to have my world thrown upside down and sideways all at once, I’m going to do itfortably. I chucked my hair up into a simple pony, threw myself a half nce in the mirror and ran down the hallway to the formal dining room, where everyone is sitting patiently waiting for me. Fucking hell, so much attention. The Alpha Kings, or I guess, my brothers, stood from their seats when I burst through the doors, along with Mum, Dad, my mates, Aleisha and Tommy.
“Sorry. I really needed a shower.” I stand half embarrassed. Xavier walks to me, kisses my hand and leads me to a seat beside him.
“No need to apologise, you’ve been through a lot,” Mchi says softly with a look of sympathy. The food is brought in at Dad’smand, and my mates waste no second handling my te between them as they load various foods onto my te. By the time Xavier puts it back down in front of me, it’s a bloody mountain: two croissants, three muffins, a stack of bacon, eggs, beans, two slices of toast, blueberries, strawberries, a little yoghurt and a huge ss of orange juice. My eyes widen at the te as I look between
my mates.
“Sorry…our wolves would really like to care for you, little one,” Xavier says quietly. I pat his hand in
understanding.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to finish all of this, but thank you.”
My stomach growls aggressively at the smell of all the food, and I immediately and ungracefully start shovelling food into my mouth. A loud, deep set ofughing pulls me out of my food. I look up to see every set of eyes on me. I quickly drop my knife and fork, cing my hands in myp and lowering my head.
“Oh, I am so sorry.”
“Don’t apologise, Evelina, you eat like Mchi when no one is watching,” Arztec says midugh.
“Evelina?”
“That is what Mother wanted to call you. It’s fitting that you ended up with the name Envy.” Mchi
starts.
My mates all take turns using the name on their tongue.
“I like it, it suits you”, Levi says, brushing my hand under the table.
“So…I have a mother?” I ask softly.
“You do, and she is overwhelmed with joy to know she will meet you soon,” Mchi says with a smile.
“We called her before breakfast,” Julius adds in.
“I think she almost had a heart attack. If that were even possible for a Lycanthrope.” Arztecughs again.
“Hold up. You’re Lycans?”
“We are,” Mchi states, stabbing a stack of bacon onto his fork. “We have a lot to discuss, and little time to do so with your uing shift.”
“Oh my gods, you know when my birthday is!”
He halts the bacon to his mouth. “Well, your…birth…” He visibly cringes.
Julius takes over when he notices Mchi’s difort with the situation.
“When you were taken from your mother would be two days from now. Which half exins why we were told by Alpha Charles that you had performed some extraordinary things concerning saving Levi here.”
“But it does not exin why your powers came in before your wolf, or why those powers are ones of which we have never seen in our bloodline before.” Mchi finishes.
Everyone around the table looks to be deep in thought as I chug down thest of my orange juice and take a deep breath.
“The Moon Goddess told me some things…”
All attention is back on me as everyone waits for me to continue. Xavier takes my hand, silently giving me the courage to continue.
“I was sacrificed by a witch who had hoped to gain power and blessings from the Gods. Hades and Persephone saved me, brought me back and gave me their blessings and gifts. Some of which I have alread used. I will also get a power like the rest of you when I get my wolf…”
“The God and Goddess of the underworld…saved you? Why?” Mchi asks, but I’m sure everyone was
thinking it.
“Not even Selene knew why, but she said that once I shift, I may have added responsibilities to sort of pay for these gifts and the whole saving my life thing.” I shrug, pushing food around on my te. “Also, no on ever said what happened to the witch…?”
The three Alpha Kings look to each other, clearly mind-linking something in private.
“She has never been found. Nobody, no trace of life. We have hunted her every day with no hope.” Mchi says bitterly.

“We think she may be using a cloaking spell,” Julius adds.
“or hiding somewhere in the pits of hell,” Arztec says.
I realise Mum and Dad have been ever so quiet this whole time, and I look to them for their reaction. Mum smiles sweetly at me as she always does, while Dad looks… Well, I don’t know.
“Alpha Charles?” I question.
“Sorry, Envy…or Evelina. This is a lot. I am truly honoured to have you mated with my sons. This is a very blessed reunion.”
“I like Evelina. I think my mother would like it if I went by that, but Envy is fien too.” I smile and watch as my brothers nod, and my mates look at me with awe and love. I gauge Aleisha’s reaction, and she mouths, “You’re a fucking Goddess, wow!” Making meugh.
“So, what do we do now?” I ask.
“We will proceed with the Alpha and Luna ceremony. We’ve already informally identified your mate bond to be true and blessed; the only thing left to do would be to officially bind you to the pack and seal the positions.” Mchi says and then looks to Mum. “I know it is not on the intended time frame, but would you be able to move the ceremony forward to tomorrow evening? It should be done before Evelina’s first shift, as it is quite an event to shift into your wolf, and then we have the issue of whatever Hades and Persephone have intended.”
“Oh my, oh, oh, yes! Okay, I’ll get right on to reorganising and moving things forward, Alpha King Mchi.”
“Thank you, Luna Mildred.”
