Guard 149

    To protect what’s mine

    Chapter 149 Markus

“How is she?” I ask as Cales back to the dining room and heads to the kitchen. I crane my neck to try and see down the hallway better. I cannot hear anything anymore.

“She isn’t feeling well,” Cal tells me as he exits the kitchen and walks back to towards Ama’s room.

“Mommy okay?” Rose asks from where she is sitting on myp.

“She is just a little sick,” Cal tells her as he pauses mid step.

“Do you want to goy with her?” I ask Rose, trying to get her to go spend time with her mother.

She nods her head and slides out of myp. She takes off after my older brother. Rose reaches up

and takes a hold of Cal’s hand to walk back towards Ama’s room.

Hees back a minuteter and sits back at the table. Cal lets out a sigh of frustration.

    “What happened?” I ask.

“Ama got sick,” he tells me.

“Morning sickness?” I ask, trying to figure out if I should mind link Gretchen or Uncle Will. Do we

need to start figuring out what will help with morning sickness and then other things as Ama’s

    pregnancy progresses?

“She’s not sure. I mean, Uncle William said that morning sickness should not start for another week or two at least,” Cal says as if he is trying to convince himself.

“But she could be,” I push. “Goddess, if she is pregnant…”

“If she is pregnant, you need to get the pack under control,” Unele Mike says as he wheels himself into the dining room.

“I know,” Cal says as he sighs at the ceiling. “You want pack business and contacting the Alpha Council or dealing with Nicks’s father?”

“I’ll take Nick’s dad,” I growl. I could use a way to get my frustrations out.

“I’ll take over pack business,” Cal says with a nod.

I grab a banana and take off towards our second secure house where we have been keeping Lawrence. The house is barely a house with one open room, a bathroom, and small closet size bedroom. We stripped it long along of most of the furnishings, leaving a dining room set, a couch, and a bed in the tiny house.

    Chapter 149 Markus

‘Nick, I’m talking to your father,‘ I tell my delta as 1 jog through the streets.

‘I’m on my way,‘ Nick growls as he cuts the link.

I knew that there would be a good chance that Nick would want toe and confront his father. I contain my sigh. I was just hoping that he would let me handle this.

I nod my head at the two warriors standing guard outside the house. The pair nod back in respect. The male opens the door for me,

“About time pup,” Lawrence growls at me. He had trashed what was left in the house.

I sigh in irritation at the sight of the pretentious, former, Delta. The man needs to grow up and act like an adult. “Well, you will have to wait a little longer,” I growl as I lean against the wall. There is not a single chair useable to sit on anymore, and I will be damned if I sit on the floor. The windows have been wed at. It appears that he had tried to escape.

“Why, need your bitch of a mate?” Lawrence growls. “Or do you need the protection of your big

    brother.”

“I don’t need them here to witness me killing you,” I growl at him. I take a deep breath. “But I

figured your son would like to ask a few questions and get in some vengeance of his own before I kill

    you.”

“You can’t kill me without there being an uproar,” he growls at me as he takes several steps away

from me. He has lost some of his bravado.

“You might be correct, but unfortunately for you, we are about to go to war with a coven of witches and rogues,” I dismiss him. “I think no one is going to bat an eye at your death.”

“Sarah would miss me,” he tries again. “She will contact the Alpha Council. My little mate will bring

the council here and they will take the pack from you.”

“She will be toote. Cal is already contacting the council. They will know all about what has happened and what you did,” I tell him. “The council will find all about what my father and is Gamma have done to this pack.”

“We are going to rip the rot out of this pack,” Nick growls as he stomps into the house. “Starting with you.” He throws a punch at his father.

Lawrence sidesteps the punch and throws one of his own. He clocks Nick across the face. Nick stumbles backwards and growls.

“Enough,” I growl, stopping the pair before they can trade more blows. “Lawrence you are charged with beating your mate and your pup. How do you plead?”

    Chapter 149 Markus

“I was showing discipline to an unruly pup and making sure my mate submitted to my rules of the house,” he growls in his defense.

I nod my head in mock understanding. “Nick?”

My Delta hesitates and swallows the saliva in his mouth. “Lawrence started beating me four years. ago. It was for mistakes made during personal training. He started beating mom before that. She hid it very well. I didn’t even know about the abuse until after he struck me for the first time,” Nick tells us. “He then started drinking wolfsbane moonshine and the beating started almost daily.”

“You fucking liar,” Lawrence screams at his son. He takes a step towards his son.

“Freeze,” I growl, my Alpha order halting Lawrence. “I have heard all that I need to.” I smile cruelly

at the former Delta. “You are sentenced to death.”

“Banishment is the punishment!” Lawrence tries to defend.

“True, but like I said, we are about to go to war. And I am not letting you go free only to attack us a

few dayster,” I say with mock sincerity. I am moving before Lawrence can take in my words. I

    throw him against the wall.

His head ms against the wall and he slides down it, in a daze. Lawrence shakes his head as he

tries to shake himself out of the daze. Nick is on his father next. He picks Lawrence up and shoves

him against the wall. Nick throws several punches before his father is able to do anything. Three hits

to the stomach and four to the face. Nick lets Lawrence slide to the floor. He takes a step back and growls. Nick then turns around and storms out of the house.

“If I had more time, I would make you suffer for all that you put your mate and son through. But I

don’t have time to waste on trash,” I growl at Lawrence’s bruised face. Aziz lends me his strength, and I grow ws. I swipe them at Lawrence’s neck and take his head clean off. “You do not deserve

    an honorable death.”
