Guard 76

    Chapter 76 Amalie

I’m running, from what I do not know. But what i do know, is that if the thing catches me, it’s over. “Vereur shout as i continue to run. I can not feel her or talk with her. But she has to be there, I know the just hus

A branch whips at my face. I fell the sting from the branch as it brings tears to my eyes. I link the fears away as continue to run. I nce behind to see if I can spot what is chasing me. I do not spot anything, but I can still feat it’s presence.

1 am in a forest one second and the next, I am running down a hallway. I swear, there are full murals on the walls that look like the forest I was just in. They look to life like, that it makes me question if I had been in a forest ar not. I don’t have time to stop and admire the paints. I need to escape.

There, up a head is a door. If I can get through the door, I will have something to block whatever is chasing me. I am about to reach the door when it disappears. I growl in frustration as I keep running, not daring to show down. The hall has to lead somewhere. I just need to keep running and moving,

“You can not escape me!” a voice shouts from somewhere down the hall.

“Wanna bet,” I growl to myself as I try to run faster. “A little help, Berent

“Your wolf, your wolf will be of no help,” the voice cackled as it was gaining on me.

I don’t argue with the voice. It’s a waste of time and energy. I just need to keep moving. As I am, I see a bright light at the end of the tunnel. I don’t care how cliché that sounds, I just want out of the hall and somece I can

    hide.

I burst out of the hall and into the ballroom. I try to slide to a stop. My shoes have no tractions as I slide a few

    more feet.

“There she is,” a feminine voice booms, drawing everyone’s attention to me. As if was not already on me due the

    my grand entrance.

People turn to look at me. It looks like I had burst into a masquerade ball. Men are in old fashioned tailored suits. Women are in dresses, old fashioned ones. I mean the ones that look like they belong in a y. The winale room looks like they are about to preform in a Shakespearean y or going to watch one.

Great, a room full of strangers are staring at me in my nightgown. I let out a gasp as I look down. I’m mat im a night gown but a full–length gown that flows out. It ispletely ck with silver shimmering through. I stand out as everyone else’s clothes have multiple sections with different colors, my dress is all ck. My hands flity to my hair to find it is pulled back into the bun. I can feel things in my hair. My back, probably leaxes and twigs. But with how weird this is going, it’s probably gems.

“Step forward, my child. We have waited for you for many years, the female says as the sea of people pants for me. I look at the woman, she is sitting on a throne. There is no other way to put it, she is gorgeous. Long ck hair that is pulled into ringlets and piercing purple eyes. Her dress is ck as well. But where my dress takes up more space around me, hers is sleek, bordering on more modernpared to the room.

I do not have control over my feet as I move forward. My slippered feet start to take me closer. This woman, I

know her. I don’t know how I know her, but I do. Something deep inside of me knows her.

A roar shakes the room from the hall I came from. A few people let out shrieks of terror. There are a few who hiss in anger. I turn around and look at the hall. There arerge doors that are shut and have a bar over it to keep the thing out. The woman looks amused.

“He can not hurt you here. Here is my realm and you are safe,” she assures me.

“Who are you?” I whisper as Ie to a stop before her throne.

“My name is Francesca Trivulzio,” the woman, now named Francesca, informs me. I could here the very faint ent in her voice. That paired with the fact that her name sound Italian, I would go that she was not from

    Midwest.

“I’m Am-” I start before I was cut off. I figured I should introduce myself.

“I know all about you my dear. As I have said, we have waited for you for many years,” she says with a smile. “Amalie Marie Remington.”

I want to be shocked that this woman knows my full name. I’m pretty sure my mates don’t even know my full

    name.

“Like I said, I know all about you and we have been waiting for you,” she smiles at me.

I don’t know what to say. I’m confused about everything.

“But now is not the time,” Francesca tells me. “You are waking up.”

I feel a surge of panic shoot through me. I don’t want to wake up. I want to know who she is and how she knows

me.

“Peace, my dear. You will find your way to safety in my realm again,” her voices says soothingly.

“But I have questions!” I shout as I bolt into an upright sitting position. I look around me. I am no longer in at ballroom but back in my room. My mates are blinking their eyes, trying to wake themselves up faster as I had abruptly woken up.

“Love?” Cal growls as he takes in the room for any dangers.

“Are you okay darling?” Mark asks as he rubs an eye to force himself to wake up faster.

“Sorry,” I say as I look around. “I’m sorry, I had a dream.”

“Do you want to talk about it?” Mark asks as he ces a hand on my back.

I feel the mate bond tingle at the contact. “We can in the morning,” I tell him as Iy back down. I do not miss the looks shared between the pair before they tooy back down.
