Guard 72

    Chapter 72 Calyx

Rose continued to talk to Aziz as she buries her face into his fur. She is so happy to be able to pet Aziz’s sleek and soft fur. Rose has made severalments about how much she loves her daddy.

Zviad has let out a quiet growl at Aziz when our twin looked over at us with a smug look. We honestly contemted shifting right there so that way Rose could pet Zviad. But shifting can be scary for little pups if they don’t know what is happening to those that are shifting. He lets out a huff in our head in agreement. We do not

    want to scare Rose.

“Where mommy?” Rose asks as she looks up and sees that Ama is no longer on the porch swing.

“She went inside to talk with Uncle Michael,” I tell her.

“We go see?” Rose asks, uncertainty clouding her voice.

“She just needs some time,” I assure Rose.

Rose’s lip starts to quiver. She is close to tears. I share a look with Aziz. I have no idea what I am supposed to do. Aziz tries to cheer her up by licking her face. It does not cheer her up, in fact, her lip quivers more violently.

Vickie huffs out augh as she walks off the porch. Jimmy is trying to grab her wrist to stop her. He is hissing something at her, but she ignores him.

Vickiees up to us and sits on the ground, “What’s wrong little flower?” Vickie asks softly, her tone taking on a softer quality.

“Mommy?” she quivers. She moves away from Aziz and into Vickie’sp.

“Your mommy is okay. She just has a lot of feeling to sort through,” she tells Rose. “Your mommy has spent many years bottling up everything to protect you and herself.”

I look at Vickie and wonder how a woman who constantly crashes through a person’s emotional walls was so aware of others‘ feelings. Now that I think about, Vickie has always been amazing at pushing others outside of theirfort zone as needed. I never realized how much she was aware of people’s feelings.

‘Just because I am outgoing and enjoying putting people in awkward situations, does not mean that I am not aware of theirfort level. Quiet pups need pushed to be friends with others. Outgoing pups need help in wrangling in their impulses,‘ Vickie huffs at me through the mind link.

‘Just amazed that you are so aware of others,‘ I tell her, the smirk being heard in my tone.

“Let me tell you something mister Alpha, I have long since been aware of when people need a push or not. Just meeting Ama, I got over excited. I couldn’t believe how sweet your mate is, and I enjoy being her friend. I knew she needed a push toe out of her shell, and I did not give her time to retreat,” Vickie stated out loud.

“Auntie?” Rose asks as she looks up at Vickie. Vickie shifts her attention to the pup in herp. “Mommy be okay?”

“She is okay. She just needs a few minutes to process,” Vickie tells Rose gently.

    Chapter 72 Caly*

1 lost at the doon. 1 want to go in andfort my mate. I can feel her fut. Aziz and Markus mirat feel it for as they let out a whine. We will have to sort through more on why we were not able to feet Ama’s emotions over the

yers, but that is a profitem for a different day.

“Stay” Virtle says with a pointed look. “I know you feel her emotions, but you have to get used to those emotions. They will be stranger once you threeplete the mating bond. You need to learn how to deal with those emotions without smothering her”

1 let out a growl. I want to gofort my mate.

“Any reason why Sam is pouting as he walks the perimeter of your uncle’s house?” Nick asks as he walks up the

    sidewalk.

“Uncle Nick,” Rose says as she sees our Delta,

“Hi little bud,” Nick says as he nts himself on the grass beside us.

Rose climbs into hisp and makes herselffortable. I’m so d that she is not shy around others. As much as

I want to growl over the loss of Rose’s attention, I will not as she is a very kind and outgoing pup.

“I know that this may not be the best time, but I wanted to talk with you both,” Nick says as he looks directly at

    Mark and 1.

“What is wrong?” I ask in concern.

“Nothing is wrong per say, but I don’t know how you will feel about it. I mean I am not even sure, but I’m pretty sure. My father said that Deltas could, not as early as some Alphas. So, I mean I won’t know for sure until at the end of next month. But I’m not sure,” Nick says as he rambles very quickly.

“Slow down, young one,” Aziz chuckles.

“Breathe,” I tell Nick. I have a feeling already know what he is going to say, but I want him to voice his concerns.

Nick takes a deep breath as he gathers his thoughts. “I think I found my mate,” he blurts out. He is now vibrating with excitement. He then takes another deep breath before continuing on, “I know it’s not the greatest time for me to find her. We are dealing with the betrayals and everything. You have the Alph Council to deal with and also the Elders. We have to get our pack sorted out and announce Ama to everyone.”

    “You’re rambling again,” Vickie snickers.

“Don’t you have somewhere else to be!” Nick snaps in anger at the older warrior.

I share a look with Aziz, Nick must be feeling very stressed if he is snapping at pack members. “Nicks,” I tell him firmly.

“Sorry,” he apologizes to me. “I am sorry Vickie. I just don’t need you making fun of me. Not when I don’t know if

    I should reject her.”

“You are not rejecting your fated mate because of me,” Ama shouts in anger as she storms down the steps and over to our group on the grass.
