Chapter 49 Amalie.

As we finish up eating. Uncle Mike regales us with sturles from when the twins and I were kids. Heughs as he tells us stories about the twins getting into trouble as they caused chaos in the pack. I could tell he was trying to make me feel more at ease

When I told him that I wasfortable around him, it the truth. He was always kind to us when we were ying at the pack

    house.

I think about the depression he went through when he lost the use of his legs. He had stopped smiling for months. Us being kids, we didn’t understand why he stopped smiling and ying with us.

The rogue attack had us hiding in a safe room at the pack house with Rachel, the twins mother. He had fought valiantly until he had been too injured to continue on fighting. By the time his mate had arrived at the pack house to assist with healing and trying to stabilize him, Michael Reed had lost the use of his hind legs.

To find out that Mathew’s cruelty went towards his older brother was shocking. How much damage had he inflicted on his family. He kept his brother from adopting orphaned pups. He kept his sons‘ mate, me, locked up and away from them. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if he manipted the elder council or worse.

“What are you thinking about so hard?” Mark asked teasingly.

    “About your father,” I whisper.

Both of the twins growl in anger and irritation. I can feel their own hatred towards their father.

*Papa? Daddy?” Ruse asks as she looks between the two.

“We’re okay, princess,” Cal says as he takes a breath to calm himself down,

“How about we n a pic at the park for this afternoon with William? He should only be putting in a half day at the hospital.” Uncle Mike offers in attempt to distract the twins.

“That sounds lovely,” I say as I smile at the twins.

Mark and Cal take a breath.

“We have to go do some work at the pack house and let the pack know we haven’t abandoned them. We also have to n how we are going to announce you as Luna,” Cal starts to exin.

“So, how about we meet you at the park around three for a <bte lunch. Then we will gather everyone at the pack house to announce you as Luna?” Mark asks as he takes over for Cal.

Goddess are they really going announce that I’m their Luna already? The twins must feel my anxiety as they both ce a kiss on my cheeks.

“They’ll love you,” Cal whispers to m

“We’ll send Sam to watch you while we work.”

“I can watch her,” Uncle Mike says with a re.

“Our Gamma’s main position is protecting the Luna,” Mark points out.

“Uncle Mike can mind link h

him when we leave for the park,” I counter.

“Fine,” Cal growls. I know he is not happy with the counteroffer.

“Well, we’ll see youter,” Mark sighs at the twins so they will leave for the pack house to get some work done.

I lean over and kiss Mark on his cheek.

Cal res and grabs Mark. He then hauls his younger brother out of the house

“Bye” Rose states happily with a wave.

“Well, shall we get breakfast cleaned up? Uncle Mike asks as he wheels himself backwards,

“1 help!” Rose states happily as she gets off myp. Iugh and hand her the dishes so she can run them to the kitchen. Rose smiles andughs as she runs back and forth between the kitchen and dining room. In a matter of minutes, all the breakfast dishes have been taken to the kitchen.

I grab my crutches and stand up. I make my way to the kitchen to see what I can help with. “Anything I can help with?” I ask.

“I’ll rinse and you put in the dishwasher,” Mike tells me as he turns on the water.

“I didn’t know that they put in sinks this low,” Iment as 1 take dishes that are handed to me. I put them in the dishwasher.

“They are not usually,” he starts as he finishes rinsing, “but I have a friend who is a plumber and carpenter, and he adjusted the counter height to make sure it was perfect for me in my wheelchair. Hepletely remodeled the kitchen for me after I lost my

D legs. I needed a hobby, and William suggested baking and cooking. Needing dough can be stress relieving”

“I am sorry about the attack,” I whisper to him.

“It’s alright. I made my peace with the loss of my legs long ago. Metin still gets to shift though. We don’t move around a whole lot, but we do shift and lounge around in the sun. I swear he is like an overgrown golden retriever,” heughs. “We will shift, and William and Asa usually lounge with us and cuddle.”

“You have woll?” Rose asks happily as she is sliding around the kitchen in her so

“I do. His name is Metin,” he tells her with a smile.

“I see?” Rose asks as she slides to a stop and looks expectantly.

    “Not in the house,” Mikeughs

“Mommy wolf pretty,” she states proudly.

“I bet she is. Most she–wolves are very pretty,” he says as he tickles Rose.

Rose lets out augh and barely manages to escape. I smile as I watch Rose be happy. “Beren all white,” she states proudly.

“What?” Mike asks he sobers up from his yful attitude.

“Beren is a white woll I rify for him.

“You’re a white wolf?” Mike usks me’in disbelie

    “Yes,” 1 tell him hesitantly.
