Guard 10

    Chapter 10 Calyx

I bit back a growl as my emotions continued to spiral. I really needed to get a grip on my emotions. I was supposed to be the twin that had a handle on them. I was the twin who never showed emotions. Mark was supposed to be the loud and emotional twin. He showed his heart on his sleeve. Me, my emotions were buried, deep, under severalyers.

Thest 24 hours had wreaked havoc on them. I was a messpared to what I usually was.

“Where’s mommy?” a tiny voice piped up from the kitchen doorway. “You had mommy!”

I could here the confusion in her voice. Goddess, she must have been terrified to witness whatever had Mark running from the house in desperation. I only briefly caught a glimpse of our mate as she was taken to the pack hospital. “Markus took your mom to the hospital,” I stated.

“Get to the basement!” Thomas growled at the pup, ignoring my hand on his throat.

She shrunk back, further into the kitchen.

I tightened my grip on his neck. Evidently, I was not holding him tight enough if he could growl orders at people. “Shut up,” I hissed.

    “Mommy?” she asked in fright.

I tried to rack my brain to ce the pup. I knew I had seen her before. I just couldn’t ce her. I was also getting hung up on the fact that she looked like Amalie when we had all first met.

“What are you doing to my father?” Mellisa screeched as she ran into the house. Her eyes locked onto the pup. “Oh Rosie, are you okay?” Mellisa asked sweetly, her voice dripping with concern. She ran towards the pup.

I did not miss the way, Rosie, stiffened at the sight and sound of Mellisa. She tried to retreat into the kitchen.

“Stop!” Zviad ordered. I let hime forward. ‘Pup is Medea’s by blood, but pup doesn’t love her,‘ he told me.

“Your right, they bring her with them to pack functions,‘ realization dawning me as I remembered when I had seen herst.

Mellisa and the pup froze. Thomas quit trying to struggle in my grasp.

    “Rosie, will-” I started.

“Rose,” the tiny pup spoke up.

I looked at her in confusion. Not quite believing that the tiny little pup in front of me had spoken up. She had cringed away from, who was supposed to be

her mom. But she had corrected me on her name.

“Don’t like Rosie,” she whispered, the confidence dissipating.

“Rose,” I started again, “will youe here. I will take you with me to go see your mom at the hospital.”

She looked hopeful at that. Rose crept around Mellisa and made her way to my side. I ignored the blood that was coating her. It smelt too much like Amalie’s to be Rose’s. When I felt a little hand on my shorts, I switched my attention to the adults in the room.

“You three will stay in this house for the foreseeable future. You will not leave until Mark, or Ie back,” I ordered, my alphamand making sure that they would not be able to leave. ‘I need three warriors at the Remington residence. Thomas, Marie, and Mellisa are not to leave until Markus, or I </be back,‘ I growled through the mind link. When I heard three pack members speak up, I turned my attention to the pup.

I gently bent down to look at her. “Let’s go,” I said as I started to walk out of the house.

“Hold you?” Rose asked me as she held onto my shorts.

‘Hold you?‘ what was that supposed to mean. The girl was tiny, she would not be able to pick me up.

‘She wants you to pick her up,‘ Zviad stated with a sigh like I was the dumbest human in the world. ‘Our pup wants to be held, and we will also be able to

    get to the hospital faster.‘

I reached down and picked her up. ‘Our pup?‘ I asked. Rosetching her arms around my neck.

‘Our mate’s pup, our pup,‘ he stated like it was obvious.

“Hold on tight. I’m going to run,” I told the child in my arms. I felt her nod her head. I then took off running towards the hospital.

A few minutester, we reach it and walked inside. I looked around to try and spot my brother or a nurse. I was able to hear him before I saw him.

“I want to see her,” Markus shouted.

I followed his shouting. I found him arguing with a nurse.

“Your uncle is in there now with her. He is getting her stable. If you go in now, we could lose her,” Gretchen stated.

Whatever Markus was about to say was interrupted by the tiny bundle in my arms.

“Good one!” she shouted as she practicallyunched herself out of my arms.

It was only thanks to my reflexes that kept her from going st on the floor. She continued to squirm in my arms as she reached for my brother.

Markus left his argument and ran back towards us. He scooped Rose out of my arms and hugged her close.

“Two of you! But you good one!” Rose rambled. “But no lookie ss.”

    “Mirror?” Markus asked in confusion.

    “That!” she cheered happily.

“We’re twins,” Markus exined to the pup. “We look alike. My name is Markus and that is my twin, Calyx.”

“You good and you strong,” she said as she pointed to the both of us with our new titles.

‘Watch her,‘ I said through the mind link to Markus as I walked to the nurse.

Markus nodded his head. He was to frustrated to keep dealing with the nurse. Instead, he would cuddle and talk with Rose. Hopefully, she old be able to

    calm him.

“Gretchen, how is she?” I asked as I strode up to her.

“As I was telling your brother, your uncle is working on her. Dr. William is doing all that he can. She has severe silver burns both new and old. It appears that she was beaten to the point of death. We have gotten the cuffs off. Her wolf is strong and is trying to hang in there,” Gretchen exined.

“What can we do?” I asked, keeping my tone neutral.

“Once he gets hercerations stitched up, you can go sit with her. But right now, with the open wounds, you have to wait. Once William is done, sitting with her should help due to your mate bond,” she continued.

I nodded my head in understanding. I was about to say something when I noticed my other uncle wheel himself up to me.
