Sienna’s POV
Looking towards the door, I saw Liam wearing a light blue shirt with his sleeves slightly folded up. He had a bit of slobber, possibly due to the wind chill.‘ He seemed exhausted, but the warmth of his smile and the constant gaze on me made my heart feel soft and pliable.
Liam closed the door behind him and asked, “Are you patient?”
My heart was racing, but I smiled and said no. “Not really, actually.” I just finished the kitchen.
“I have a good smell,” his eyes fixed on the table. “Do you mean kebab?” raised his head.
I gave a nod and said: “I got there this afternoon. Vani Noah’s favorite.”
“Ah, good morning!” Noah’s expression was. “Mommy, can I have some?”
“Of course, sweetheart. Are you okay with washing your hands first?
After saying “yes,” he headed for the toilet.
Liam drew nearer as they came to a stop just before me.
His voice was almost hushed, as when he asked if ‘you also got some for me.
I took a bite and looked at him before nodding off. “Won’t you bewildered? I am aware that you have a preference for it.”
A slight smile washed over him, his feet bringing them closer together.
“Thank you, Sienna.”
Although it was a straightforward question, his warm, gentle, and genuine expression left me speechless.
But Liam stood right up to me. He seemed interested in saying something but didn’t do it. His gaze caught me closely as I picked up the second te and ced it on the table. He smiled with a slight lift from the corner of his lips, but not fully smiling and still making my heart skip jinct.
Once more, he expressed his pleasure in “this is the meal you made.”
His eyes met my gaze, I tried not to worry but with wings flying in my chest.
“It’s just a simple cake. Nothing special.”
“But you made it.”
The words left him unresponsive, possibly due to their frankness.
I averted my gaze, feigning to tie up patchwork to hide the warmth in my cheeks.
“Liam, I’m getting carried away with the way things are going.”
That’s the way it sounds, as he whispered. It was nearly too soft to hear.

But I just waited for the breath to take hold.
How long have we been avoiding each other like strangers, with the asional statement that would have calmed me down? Steps of silence interrupted the moment.
“Tadaa! Now that Noah’s hands smell like soap!”
I felt a sense of relief or disappointment when Noah’s beaming voice from the hallway brought to mind the end
of our time with Liam.
Running forward, he let out damp drops that fell on the floor. I sighed softly on instinct.
“Noah, towel, sweetheart,” I pointed him towards the bathroom.
After hearing “Uh!“, he quickly returned with less friction but still had the same eagerness. “Now is it time for me to eat?” asked him.
With a mildugh, I nodded and said: “Yes”
With a smile on his face, Liam nced at Noah and then turned around to look back at him.
His eyes had a sense offort, thankfulness and I couldn’t pinpoint what else he might have been aware of.
With a soft voice, he said, “Alright, let’s sit.”
I nodded gently.
While en route to the dining room, I experienced something peculiar in my mind.
It felt like we were all heading towards something fresh. The temperature has increased, bringing it closer to a family.
I gave Noah a spoon while he got up to climb onto his chair with the aid of Liam. My seat was pushed aside to allow Liam to sit nearer to me. At a certain point, I could sense him in close proximity, the body heat on his face, even the faint perfume of his fragrance.
A momentary scowl at me before he fully sat down nearly made my mind go nk.
As we sat at the dining table, Noah approached me with his battered hands and happy expression, eager to taste my homemade cake.
I prepared the cake and served it to each of us. After his first bite, Noah screamed out in an instant.
“Mommy, this is sooo good!”
He was exhrated and myughter grew warm inside me. “Are you truly thrilled?”
“Yes! Daddy needs to do it too!” he eximed, gesturing at Liam.
Liam tasted a piece. Before swallowing, he maintained a fixed stare and gave a ten–second nce before suddenly smiling.
“I think this cake is possibly the best you’ve ever made. And I almost had tough in fear.”

“You’re expressing this through your hunger.”
“I never saw it, so I said no,” he whispered softly. “I said it because it’s urate.”
We were both quiet for a short time. Quiet, butforting.
This house had beenpletely unused for an extended period, and it felt like it was slowly returning to life.
As I looked at Liam, Noah kept talking about his school days and friends.
There was an alteration in his approach to me, of being gentler and more attentive than the previous one.
As if the separation between us was starting to crumble.
Cutting my cake from the side, I aimed for its gentle sweetness rather than inflicting a loud beating through my heart.
