Sincerity 142

    142

    Liam’s POV

I looked at him again. Noah briefly nced at me before quickly returning to his ything. I had a positive outlook despite the brief but hopeful view.

While stirring the pan, I asked “Noah, do you want toast or scrambled eggs?”

There was no immediate response from him. His face remained fixed, his hair tugging at the robot’s head. In a state of near–dy, he asked, “When will I see Mommy again?”

There was only a moment when my hands were still. The thought of contacting Sienna to request her return was unsettling. Nevertheless, I was aware that the answer was not essible. It was imperative that I respected her. I had to be patient.

I nced at Noah’s and gave him a friendly smile. “It won’t be too long. Mom said, don’t worry. She wille back. Waiting together, please.

Without any suspicion, he stared at my face and whispered, “Daddy, I am good–natured. Can being good make me return home quicker?”

My heart twisted. With my head tilted towards our eyes, I eximed softly, “Thank goodness!” Your mischievousness caused Mommy to remain idle. Why? Mommy loves you so much. Give her time, that’s it. It’s okay for Mommy.”

Noah gave a brief stare before smiling and saying: “Dad, I will wait for Mommy.” He continued.

I stroked his hair and kissed him on the forehead. “You’re in my blood, sweetheart.”

Following my breakfast, I returned to the stove. Although not a shy item, it made the morning feel like home.

Our table was upied by each other. Noah relished his food constantly, asionally ying with his red robot to hear him speak. Without any doubt, Iid eyes on him.

He raised his voice to say, “Daddy.”

    “Yes, sweetheart?”

“Will it be eptable for us to have dinner with all three of you upon my return, Mommy?”

I swallowed and then smiled softly with a firm hand. “As for Daddy, of course.”

With a mildugh, he continued to chew his bread with more enthusiasm, as if re–eating Mommy would enhance the vor of breakfast.

I kept an eye on him for a prolonged period. The little boy was unaware of the gravity of his suffering. Last. He was in the presence of his fear of being left alone and the longing for his mother. It was my responsibility to ensure he didn’t feel lonely again as his father.

I recollected every tiny bite he consumed, hoping to capture the experience in my memory. I thought that the half–cooked toast and scrambled eggs were typical, but in reality, everything was different. There existed a

lively atmosphere at this table. Talking voice, grin, the sound of my child’s lightheartedughter.

My focus was on my coffee while he chewed. Nevertheless, my thoughts were swirling inside me. Can we expect Siennes toe back? Is there any chance of change? Or even better than before? While I was unable to forget my mistakes, I had the power back. That was what I had to hold onto.

My words were delicate, yet powerful. I wished for you to join me on the beach when Mommyes home.” Does anyone else feel free to do so?”

With wide open eyes, the red robot almost fell out of his hand. “What do you think?” asked.

I nodded. “Really. To be strong, you mustmit to eating well before starting.‘

The bread was in his mouth and he giggled. “Alright, good,” replied him.

It made me smile all the time. Then there was something very simple and binding between us – small promises, simple ns and hope that slowly blossomed.

When Noah had his breakfast, I used a tissue to clean his hands.‘” He sat in his chair, smiling and eximing,‘ Daddy, it’s delicious!” as he patted his belly.

With his hair in a messy ponytail, I said “Good.”

With his frothy hair tugging at my fingers, I felt his little body growl briefly tighten and then let go. Although he had never done anything like that before, I was aware that a certain guy was getting used to the touch.

The dishes were taken to the sink after I stood up. The kitchen echoed with the sound of running water as Noah looked back at his red robot. He pushed it across the table, making under–the–air explosions and sounds likesers. As I gazed at him, my face lit up with a smile.

Inside, I whispered, I’ll learn. For you, Noah. And for your Mommy too.

Noah was in the living room with his toy robot while I tended to the dishes after breakfast. Both of us were busy. He intermittently smiled and nced back at me. Until recently. The smile that appeared innocent made me realize the necessity of fighting. I couldn’t resist. For him. For the three of us.

After turning on the dishwasher, I leaned over to the counter. It was back to you, Sienna. What was her current activity? Had she eaten breakfast? Was she thinking of us as much as I did about her?

I breathed deeply, my eyes gazing at the ceiling with wonder as if they could uncover the answer. It was clear to me that I couldn’t impose anything. But I also had the knowledge that I would always be patient until she was prepared toe back. To ensure Sienna’s safety, I would take care of Noah and the home until that day.

I called with a smile and said, “Noah!”

The boy promptly sprang onto the sofa, his eyes filled with joy. “Yes! Will Mommy join us at the park, daddy?”

Upon reaching him, I raised his head high before finding humor in it. “At home, we’ll visit the park together as three. Currently, we’re practicing without anyone else. Is that enough?”

Noah Laughing, “I will wait for Mommy!” was his response.

I used a towel to wipe my hands and got close to him. “Leave, Noah,” I said. “Let’s go to the park for a bit.”

He lit up his eyes and smiled with a huge smile. “Daddy, what’s wrong? We’ll y ser?”

I chuckled, nodding. “Yes, ser. Shouldn’t you switch up your clothing first? Your park–ready dinosaur PJs don’t match. Just show how fit.”

He chuckled and then ran to his room. I followed, picking out his preferred race–t–shirt, cosy shorts, and the slightly worn sneakers. The pair had been racing around the track at the moment. Noah lifted his hands and allowed me to assist in his changing. I caressed his untidy hair and then rubbed it against his shoulder.

“Want to win at the park?” I asked with a smile. “Ready for it?”

He roared, “Yes!” and clutched his red robot. “My robot ising too, dad,” he added.

I simply nodded, allowing his imagination to run free. “Next, the robot will be our protector.”

Upon checking that I was prepared, I returned to my room and changed myself as well. A basic polo shirt, jeans and sneakers. I looked at my reflection and sighed. It’s possible that my face appeared tired from my constant thoughts about Sienna. That couldn’t be demonstrated in front of Noah.

We both stood by the door, ready to depart after a while. As I reached for a ball from the locker, my gaze was directed towards Noah. “Ready?”

Holding his robot high in the air, he said, “Ready!”

After opening the door, we were met with a crisp morning air and fresh air. As we exited the building, I grabbed his small hand and held it tightly. The feeling of warmth was present as he approached me with enthusiasm.
