Ss stared at Kross, who stared back. Then he scoffed, leaning down on his seat and spreading his legs.
“And how will you do that, Kross?” he asked, his expression one of indifference, but Kross remainedposed as he answered.
Kross’s voice was low, controlled. “By showing them proof of your sabotage and greed. What you did with thepany’s shipments seven months ago, just before this whole mess began.”
“Before he goes on, I must say… I’m disappointed, Father,” Kade said, his voice bored, yet it carried a heavy weight. I looked between them, confused. “Sabotaging your ally? That’s low, Father, even for you.”
Ss‘ jaw tightened, his calm mask cracking.
“Can someone tell me what the fuck is going on?” I asked, getting irritated that I was being left behind.
“Patience, Axel,” Kross said without taking his eyes off our father. “You’ll understand soon.”
“So that deal we were busting our asses for,” Kross continued. “The one we stayed up all night for, trying to ensure nothing went wrong, and we got that deal. After we had their alliance and became partners, Father thought it necessary to y the viin and be greedy.”
“What the fuck do you know?” Ss snarled, gripping the armrest, his ws slowly making their way out and digging into the chair.
All my life–since I was fucking born–I’ve never seen Ss slip like this, close to losing control.
It was damn thrilling, and even though I was in the dark, it filled me with intense satisfaction.
“I know enough,” Kross answered. “More than enough.”
“You were so desperate to get the deal,” Kade said, reaching forward and filling a ss, “and now I know why. It was so you could sabotage them and im their money for yours.”
“What happened to dignity and trust?” I asked, my eyes fixed on him. “You always drill that into our heads, growing up. So much so that I sometimes hear it in my sleep. Was that all bullshit? You have no dignity? Breaking the trust with your ally?”
He broke the armrest. With how hard he was gripping it, he ended up breaking it.
Fuck, this was fun.
“To say I was disappointed would be putting it nicely,” Kross grumbled, his expression tight. “You might be the owner of thepany, but we won’t let you ruin it.” Kross turned to me. “Just a few days after you left for London, Father here rerouted two containers, millions worth of product lost. He made it look like the containers were lost at sea–that’smon in our line of business, of course–but the truth was he redirected the containers. He made that deal with thatpany because that was his n. After all, he knew that thepany was desperately in need of apany that could help them ship their products.”
He turned back to Ss, a smug look on his face. “I have every record of it. Dates. Logs. The port officials you

Ss‘ jaw tightened even more, but he forced augh. “Even if you did, no one would believe you.”
“Oh, they will,” Kross said, his eyes sharp, lethal. “Because your own signature is on the clearance documents. One leak, and your ally will burn your empire to the ground because of your greed. Now tell me, where’s Rosette?”
Ss‘ smirk was gone now. The silence that filled the room was heavy, thick with the weight of a de not yet
swung.
I stared at Kross, my lips slightly parted. Growing up, I’ve always looked up to him. I liked how he handled life -looking it right in the eye and never backing down. I liked how he wasn’t a coward and always, always pulling through.
“She’s also on an ind,” Ss answered, his voice a growl. My head whipped to him, my eyes wide. “I’ll write down the location.”
And he did. He wrote down the location, handing it over to Kross with his eyes filled with frustration.
“Don’t give me that look,” Kross said, taking the paper from him with his expression… pleasant. “You raised us, remember? Taught us to be brutal, so that look shouldn’t be in your eyes. This new deal you’re about to sign with this Italianpany; this shouldn’t happen with them.”
What Italianpany?
“You should be proud,” Kade said, already heading towards the exit, his hands in his pockets. “You raised us to be brutal, and brutal is what we are.”
“You should have tuned down a bit,” I added, following Kade.
“She’s going to be the ruin of you,” Ss snarled and I halted in my steps, my back facing him. “The same way your mother almost became my ruin, but I was smart enough to deal with it before that happened.”
“No,” I said, my voice low, my hands clenched. “You were just a coward.”
I left the house after that, feeling Ss‘ gaze burned into me all through, but I didn’t think of that, all I thought about was how I was finally going to see my woman again.
[What was I going to do when I had her in my arms again? Will I hold her and kiss her hair, inhaling her scent? Will I grab her by the shoulders, shaking her while I scream at her face, demanding why she left me? Will I just kiss her lips, forgetting everything that happened?
“You should go alone.”
I was dragged out of my trance, blinking to see I had already reached the helicopter and Kross and Kade
stood outside.
“What?” I asked, looking at Kade who spoke.
“You should go alone,” he said again, looking away from me. “That moment of reunion is just meant for the

both of you. It’s yours. We wouldn’t want to intrude by being there.”
I looked over at Kross and he nodded.
“But how will you get out of here?”

“A second helicopter’s on the way,” Kross said, handing the paper with Rosette’s location written on it to me. “Go, Axel. Go get her.”
God, what would I have done without these two?
I moved forward and drew them both into a tight embrace, my arms around them, whispering, “Thank you.”
I left after that, getting into the helicopter, my head light as we left the ind.
It was almost dawn when I finally got to her.
