AXEL
TWO DAYS AGO
Ss used one of his cards. That was when he slipped.
55 vouchers.
Six months have passed and whatever he had prepared was running out or had already run out if he could be careless enough to use his card.
One of the tech guys we hired received a ping on hisptop as soon as the card was used, and we immediately received a call.
All three of us rushed over to where he was, hoping. My heart was beating so loud in my ear that I could barely hear anything else.
“What’d you got?” Kross asked as soon as we arrived.
Jerome, the tech guy, pushed his sses and turned theptop towards us, the screen lighting up his pale face. “Ss used his card at a gas station barely thirty minutes ago. He’s not in the city.”
“Then where?” I pushed, my fist clenched, already impatient.
“The “I’m getting there,” Jerome answered, his voice and face calm while it felt like I was about to go crazy. gas station was in the middle of nowhere, and the nearest town is an hour’s drive away. But that town’s too shady, and from what I’ve been told about Ss, I know he wouldn’t be there. So I dug in deeper, and this is what I found.”
He pressed a button on theptop and an image popped out–a picture of an ind.
“An ind,” Jerome said, tapping the screen. “Six hours away from the gas station. Totally far from any civilization, private, and the perfect ce for a rich dude to hide.”
“This isn’t solid, Jerome,” Kade said, a frown between his eyebrows. “We can’t just storm to an ind without any solid proof that Ss‘ really there. We might just be going into someone’s property.”
Jerome just smirked. “I knew you were going to say that, so I did this…” He typed a bit and then another image popped out, this one making me grind my teeth together.
“Ss,” I growled, my eyes pinned on the screen as if I was trying to will him into existence.
“This is a picture of Ss on his ind,” Jerome said, looking too proud of himself.
“How did you even get this picture?” Kross asked, his eyes narrowed on Jerome. “I’m sure there aren’t any
CCTVs on an ind.”
The tech guy just shrugged. “A magician never reveals his ways.”
“Who cares how he got the picture?” I asked, straightening, my eyes fixed on the screen. “We’ve got Ss‘

location. That’s all that fucking matters.”
“Listen to the angry dude,” Jerome said and I shot him a re. He faked a shudder. Fucking tech guy. “You have a long ride ahead of you, boys. So I suggest you start going. And I also suggest you get a boat.”
“We know,” Kade scowled, always leaving the room. “Mind your business. Your work here is already done.”

We wasted no time starting our journey. We didn’t even bother to go back to the mansion. The car we drove to the tech guy’s ce was what drove us out of the city, and we made preparations on the way. There was no use in making ns because we knew Ss wouldn’t have any security, and even if he did, we could easily take care of them.
Would Rosette be with him or is she living differently? Those were the thoughts that kept going over and over again in my head.
“I doubt Rosette’s with him,” Kade said, speaking my mind, his eyes fixed on the road.
“I was just thinking the same thing,” Kross added, typing away furiously on his phone. “He wouldn’t be that careless.”
“Fuck,” I breathed, my chin resting on my palm, my gaze on the window. “What are we going to do, then?”
“I have a n,” Kross answered without looking away from his phone. “Don’t worry and just trust me.”
I trusted him, more than I’ll ever admit. He was our backbone–Kade and I–right from when we were kids. He handled everything, shielded us.
“Thank you, Kross,” I whispered.
His typing stopped and he turned, looking back at me. “I don’t like that.”
I moved my eyes to him. “Like what? Me showing appreciation?”
“Your tone,” he answered, his eyes fixed on mine. “Don’t thank me with that sadness in your voice and in your eyes. Thank me with a smile.”
I looked away from me, my throat tight. “Maybe some other time.”
I felt another eye on me and raised my eyes to the rearview mirror and my eyesnded on mismatched ones.
He didn’t take his eyes off mine like he did these days, and just looked at me. He looked away and fixed his eyes back on the road.
“I’m sorry, you know,” I said, my voice low, my eyes still on the rearview mirror.
He nced at the morrow before he looked away. “For what?”
“For being selfish, and wanting to have her all to myself.”

“You made it clear from the beginning,” he said, his voice t, but light. “Honestly? We should have stayed away. You made it clear that you wanted her to be yours. So we’re the ones sorry.”
“I’m not,” Kross said, his typing resuming.
I scoffed, looking back at the window. “Course you’re not.”
“A helicopter’s on its way,” Kross informed after a long beat of silence. “The drive will take too long, and same as the boat. So a helicopter is the best choice.”
Yeah, I definitely trusted him.
“We would lose the element of surprise,” Kade grumbled under his breath.
“I don’t give a fuck about any of that. Getting Rosette back is all that matters. And it’s not like he could run when he sees us arriving in a helicopter. I’m sure he knows his little vacation is only limited. He raised us, he knows what we’re capable of. He’s a fool to start what he can’t finish.”
That made me smile. Yeah, he was a damn fool.
I was going to get my woman. If it involved threatening my father to get him to reveal her location, I wouldn’t think twice before I did it.
He shouldn’t have taken her away from me.
He fucking shouldn’t have.
