Oh Good 319

“Alpha, what’s going on?” the pack members begin asking me. The feeling of fear and concern increases as the enforcers march toward the cells. I hear others asking Beta Braden the same question.

“Christian and Shane are going to make an announcement very soon. Please trust us until then,” I say, making sure to make eye contact with everyone who expresses concern to me.

I watch as Shane and Christian lead the enforcers down to the cells and we all hear them as the detainees are dragged back up.

“This is insane! I didn’t do anything! Alpha Christian is a liar!” Dorian is the first to be dragged up. When he sees Christian, he spits at him and begins screaming obscenities.

Steven and Corey are next, followed by Isiah and Caleb. All of them scream that they didn’t do anything, that Christian is just trying to make a name for himself, that this is retaliation for them attacking him on the first day, anything and everything that they can think of to turn. the pack against him and us.

“Trust us,” I say quietly to the pack members around me.

They nod but everyone watches the five men being dragged out of the packhouse and ced into the vans before being hauled away.

When Shane and Christian walk back into the packhouse, I watch Christian nod to Shane and he steps forward.

“Attention everyone! We have an announcement to make!”

Christian steps up beside him and they go through everything that we’ve discovered.

“Wait! Are you saying that Alpha Colin was murdered?” someone asks.

“Yes. My father was murdered. Nurse Nancy admitted to injecting him with silver while he was in the pack hospital,” Shane says.

I feel most of the pack turn to look at me. I grit my teeth. Now is NOT the time to fall apart.

“And it was Beta Dorian? Are you sure?” someone else asks.

“He was demoted. Braden is your Beta. And yes, the Council’s investigators were able to track the money that was being stolen from this pack and put into the ounts of everyone who was arrested today as well as the Alpha who attacked your pack.”

“Will that Alpha be held ountable?” someone asks, and everyone turns to look at the council members.

I use the opportunity to move around the room, taking in the feelings of the pack members around me.

“The council will be doing a further investigation of Alpha Kurt. At this time, he will not be charged with any crime as he is not the one who murdered your Alpha. He may have been paid to attack your pack and possibly he was paid to kill your Alpha. However, for whatever reason, he did not. We won’t know more until weplete our investigation. For now, we feel confident that we have all of the individuals who were responsible for the death of Alpha Colin, and therefore, the death of Luna Ciara,” Councilman Johnathon says.

Shane, Christian, and the Council answer the pack’s questions and when they’re done, I can feel the pack’s sadness. It’s like we lost our parents, their Alpha and Luna, all over again.

Lunch ends up being a sad affair, with Shane, Braden, Christian and I going around to console the devastated pack members. I end up crying with several of the pack members who hold me while they sob how sorry they are for everything that has happened to us.
