Everyone leaps into action.
“Another murder?” Reuben asks.
I turn to look at him, making sure he sees how serious I am. “Keep that quiet.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
“Dr. Charles is on his way, Christian. What else do you need me to do?” Enya asks.
“I’m not sure yet. Help my mother for now but I may need you.”
“Let me know what you need,” she says as Shane and my fathere out of their rooms dressed and ready to go.
“Let’s go,” I say to Reuben. “Who was on duty overnight?” I ask as we walk.
“Judith and Gabriel, Alpha,” he says. I recall Judith being a warrior who I felt I could trust. It’s why I scheduled her with Gabriel. Dammit.
‘Enya, wake Judith and Gabriel. Take them to separate conference
rooms and tell them to wait for me. Put warriors on them to make sure they stay put,‘ I say.
‘I
‘Will do.‘
“Are there always two warriors on duty at once?” my father asks.
“Usually, but it depends on how many people are in the cells. Right
og dn
now, we have three on duty during the day since we have more people than usual in the cells,” he says as we descend the stairs.
When we get to the cells, Dr. Charles is waiting for us.
“Alpha Enya said it was urgent, Alpha,” he says.
“That’s right. I have a dead prisoner. I need to know how she died, and I need to know now,” I tell him.
“I didn’t bring the right instruments, Alpha. I need to go get them,” he
says.
“Shane, go with Dr. Charles. He doesn’t leave your site,” I say.
“Let’s go, doctor,” Shane says as my father and I descend the stairs to the cells.
“You’ve got yourself a big ol‘ problem there, don’t you, Alpha Christian?” Dorian says, smirking from his cell.
“You wouldn’t know anything about that, would you, Dorian?” I ask him.
He gives me an arrogant look and shrugs. “I was locked away in my cell. But I hear the council ising today. That’s not going to look very good for you, is it?”
“Interesting that you’re more worried about me than your dead pack member,” I say, stepping into Nancy’s cell.
For thoroughness, I check her pulse. Her body is cold, letting me know she’s been dead a while.
‘Christian, something’s wrong with Judith. She seems drugged,‘ Enya
says.

Chapter 93
‘Mom, can you go check on Judith? She’s a warrior with Enya,‘ I say,
‘Enya already asked me toe check on her. She’s definitely been drugged Christian.‘
Shit! At least my instincts were right about Judith. Now, it’s Gabe that I need to be worried about.
‘Braden?‘ I reach out in the mind link to my Beta.
‘Alpha, what’s going on?‘ he asks me. ‘I was just about to start warrior training but there’s gossip going around that someone was murdered.”
‘Nancy was killed in her cellst night. Get a warrior you trust to lead warrior training. I need you with me this morning. I also need a nurse that you can trust to look at Judith. Enya and my mother both say she looks drugged. She was on dutyst night. I need to know what’s in her system, but I don’t want any medical person doing anything without one of us breathing down their necks. I don’t trust anyone right now.”
‘I’ll take care of it,‘ he says, and closes the mind link.
‘What do you want me to do with Judith, Christian? I think she needs to see Dr. Charles,‘ Enya says.
