Since I’d just run through the forest this morning, I knew right away what animal James had picked for them to find. As Logan. and Liam walk off to find a better ce to see, Christina closes her eyes and tilts her head. The moment I see her sway a bit, I step up behind her, putting my hands on her hips to help ground her.
“I’ve got you,” I say softly.
She nods, but continues to focus, her head tilting from side to side. Tyler steps up beside her, his nose in the air. I lift mine too, focusing on the small animal that they are trying to find and identify.
“Is that a squirrel?” Christina asks softly. I see her nose working as she uses her other senses to try and pinpoint what type of animal it is.
“A mouse maybe?” Tyler says, just as softly, his head tilting from side to side as he uses his other senses as well.
I smile, tching the two of them work together. I’ve seen them spending time together. Their shared struggles with their brothers seem to have brought them together. Christina’s admiration for Tyler only reinforces my impressions of him.
“Mole,” they say together.
“Excellent,” James says. He makes a point of looking at my hands on Christina’s hips, but he doesn’t say anything, and I

don’t remove them. This is about steadying her as a student, not touching her as a potential partner. Although I’m thankful for the excuse to touch her.
He gives them their next animal, and it goes on like that until the end of ss. Once I feel that Christina is steady, I step back, letting her stand on her own.

In Managing the Pack, I work with Daniel as his back–up. Neither of us is surprised that Ezra is exceling in this ss. Neither Christina nor Tyler ever expected to run a pack, so they are a bit behind Ezra’s knowledge. Liam, from what I’ve gathered from Mia had a crap role–model, Noah has been winging it for two years while his father floundered after his mate’s death, and who knows what Logan has been doing. I make note of who is doing well, realizing that Christina is holding her own, even though she’ll never run a pack.
Then, it’s time for Communication ss. I’m not an instructor for this ss, but I know today we start letting the Alphas work together to build each other back up.
“This wee” young Alphas, we’re back to you interviewing each other. You all know how the others were broken. You’ve all witnessed the weaknesses in your fellow Alphas. This week, we‘ Il start talking about those things. This is not Dealing with Crisis, we’re not going to push each other into an emotional crisis. This ss will be used for you, as Alphas, to listen to and help your fellow Alphas deal with their struggles. Any questions before we begin?” James asks.
“First up, Logan and Christina. Logan, you’re acting as Alpha,”

This should be quick. I doubt Logan has enough brain power to manage a conversation about Christina and her brother.
They sit in chairs facing each other in front of the ss. The moment he opens his mouth, I nearly snarl out loud.
“So, Christina, how do you think your brother will feel when he finds out you’ve been fucking an Alpha, an instructor no less?”
I push off the wall, ready to beat the shit out of this kid. Who the fuck does he think he is? James holds up a hand, telling me to wait. I clench my hands into fists and watch a slow, menacing smile spread across Christina’s face as she leans forward.
“Really? This is the question you want to ask me?” she asks.
He shrugs arrogantly. “Everyone knows you’re off limits and yet, here you are, earning tokens for being the best fuck he’s ever had.”
I’m nearly seeing red at this little shit’s insolence.
I feel a hand on my shoulder, and I turn, ready to rip it off. Benjamin shakes his head at me, silently telling me to stand down, just e James did. They both want to give Christina a chance to knock Logan down.
“So, let me get this straight. You’re going to use this ss time. to try and bully me. Why? Is it because I’m a woman? Are you intimidated that a woman is actually kicking your ass in the Academy? Or maybe you thought I was an easy target. In which case, you are as stupid as I thought. Or perhaps you’re just a bully. Which is it, Logan?”
