Wife Back 192

    “Roy?”

“Yep.” Linda nodded without taking her eyes off the TV. “Roy doesn’t manage family affairs, he only investigates cases. But over the years, no one has set limits or dared to make things difficult for him. Isn’t that because the Felton family holds a high status?”

It was a mutually reinforcing rtionship.

“You need to remind Roy that even when investigating cases, he has to be careful of his own family tripping him up.”

    “I see.”

After midnight, Jessica and Chris happily ate dumplings and even found a coin inside. Then the two, very happy, went to bed.

After changing into home clothes, they embraced in bed. Chris kissed Jessica on the forehead several times.

“I haven’t gotten a New Year’s gift for many years,” said Chris.

Jessica snorted, “Me neither. After all these years together, have you ever seen Mom give one?”

The Felton family’s New Year was livelier than the Wilder family’s. The Felton family wasrge, including main and branch families, there were dozens staying at the residence for the New Year.

Sir Felton wasn’t there, only Madam Felton was home.

Madam Felton’s full name was Riley rke. She had a strong personality like Linda. She had helped Sir Felton build the Felton family empire. Now old and with limited mobility, her eyesight remained sharp, she was still the light that guided the Felton family.

No one dared cause trouble in front of her.

On the first day, Chris and Jessica visited the Felton family to pay New Year respects. The housekeeper opened the door and led them first to see Roy and Nina.

The two had been gaming all night and were now drinking coffee to revive themselves.

“You guys are here early, have you eaten?” Roy stood up.

    Chris nodded.

Actually, they hadn’t slept much either–only a few hours after midnight, then some more ying around before falling asleep. But their spirits were still good.

Nina put down her coffee and touched up her makeup. “Come on, I’ll take you to see Grandma.”

Old people slept early and woke early. When Roy and Nina came to knock on the door, the butler opened it. Upon seeing Jessica, he was momentarily stunned, then said, “Ms. Wilder?”

Jessica smiled. “Here to pay New Year respects to Madam Felton.”

Nina said, “The Wilder and Felton families are partners.”

The butler understood and quickly stepped aside. Madam Felton said, “Madam, the Wilder family is here to pay respects.”

Madam Felton was watching TV and muttered upon hearing the Wilder family.

    “Wilder and her husband?”

Chris thought she meant them, but Jessica stepped inside and said, “Madam Felton, it’s me, Jessica. I came to see you.”

It seemed when Linda was still with the Wilder family, she maintained good rtions with the Felton family. Madam Felton actually recognized her.

Madam Felton looked at the young couple and recognized Chris.

She pointed at Chris and said, “Aren’t you the little kid from next door…”

Royughed. “Grandma even remembers you. It’s him, Grandma. Chris, the little guy from next door.”

Putting down what he was holding, Chris squatted down. Madam Felton grasped his hand.

“You’re Chris! You’ve grown so much! I haven’t seen you for years. Why did youe with the Wilder family?”

Chris turned and pulled Jessica over, introducing, “I married Jessica. The ‘Wilder‘ you mentioned is my

    mother–inw.”

    “Oh, you’re married! That’s great.”

Madam Felton asked Jessica, “Why didn’t your parentse?”

Jessica hesitated. Nina quietly said behind her, “Grandpa and Grandma have been abroad when it happened. I don’t think she knows.”

Jessica thought for a moment before saying, “My father passed away, and my mother has retired.”
