essica said, “There were some ups and downs. Do you remember Michael?”
“That kid from the Hall family? During the years I was sent abroad we kept in touch the whole time. I remember when you told me you were dating Michael, I already felt he wasn’t a decent guy. What happened–wasn’t he married abroad?”
“He got divorced and came back, brought a daughter with him too. It’s a long story. Let’s talk about it in detail once you’re back.”
“Alright, then let’s talk business. I came back this time to work with you.”
Jessica returned on the same flight as Michael.
Chris couldn’t go to the airport to pick her up–he might be spotted by Michael- so he had to wait at the Wilder Group.
Maggie brought him a cup of coffee, and he read a book in the office.
He had been working overtime at the hospital these past few days, reviewing surveince footage.
He had barely done any surgeries, and for the first time, he realized being a security officer was exhausting–staring at nearly motionless monitors all day had made his eyes ache.
After reading for a bit, he felt sleepy, so he closed the book and leaned back on the sofa to take a nap.
“You can all get off work now. There’s no meeting today. Everyone who worked overtime can leave early. Tomorrow, bring the PR team to the meeting–we’re going to work with Hurricane Media.”
Indya rushed out of her office when she heard the news.
“Hurricane Media?” Indya was confused. “What kind of coboration could we possibly have with them?”
Shannon, her arms full of documents, turned and handed them to her assistant.
“As long as they’re going against the Hall family, we can work with them. Besides the entertainmentpany, the Hall family also has a cultural division focused on adapting modern online literature into film and TV. It’s all about integration–they buy the rights themselves, produce the content, and use their own artists. It saves money.”
Indya paused. “And then?”
“Now Hurricane Media is one of us. They’re untouchable in this industry. Ms. Wilder ns to establish an entertainment division and coordinate directly with FN.”
Indya clicked her tongue. “That’s quite ambitious.”
“Anyway, this business trip was totally worth it. Aside from Michael, the rest of us got exactly what we wanted.”
Indya pulled Shannon aside to hear some gossip about Michael.
When Jessica pushed open the office door, she found Chris already asleep on the sofa
Since she was wearing high heels, she tiptoed over and sat beside him.
It was clear that during the days she’d been away, Chris hadn’t been sleeping well.
Even his eyes were shadowed with dark circles.
But this was actually a good sign- it meant he couldn’t live without her.
“Oh, you’re back.” Chris was woken by the slight noise.
He squinted at Jessica, then pulled her into his arms with a long sigh of relief. “You’re finally back. Want to head home early tonight?”
“Let me grab my things and we’ll go.”
Chris tried to shake off the sleep.
Seeing Jessica in such a good mood, he asked how the business trip went.
“Things with Michael are the same. We’re signing the contract tomorrow. But Hurricane Media gave me a surprise–a big one. Let’s go, I’ll tell you on the way back.”
Chris wasn’t familiar with the business world and had no idea what Hurricane Media was.

“He seems like a dangerous person, but in reality, he’s quite pure. His parents died young, and his rtives sent him abroad.”
