Wife Back 132

    Chapter 132

This kind of problem–excessive trust–would almost never ur with Jessica.

She had studied under Mrs. Wilder for many years, and in the business world, there was never anyone she could fully trust.

Fortunately, everyone in the Wilder Group now had been promoted by Jessica herself.

The old staff left behind by Mrs. Wilder in earlier years had either retired or emigrated with their children, leaving few behind in thepany.

Even fewer had control over major projects.

“Jake’s situation isn’t urgent,” Ashley said to Chris. “What matters most right now is finding out who’s behind the problem with the pharmacy. Your surgical skills are well recognized, but I’ve been at the Summit Infirmary longer than you and have encountered more issues.”

Back when Jessica first ced him at the hospital, Ashley had already started learning how to handle these kinds of problems.

The key was that his position wasn’t very high, so if he wanted to get things done, he had to rely on strategy and connections.

It was well known that Ashley was quite popr at the hospital.

When Ben was appointed as director of orthopedics, many of Ashley’s close associates disapproved.

But Jessica felt the timing wasn’t right and didn’t want Ashley exposed too soon, so she used some leverage to suppress the opposition.

In the end, the money Ben had spent had still been used by Jessica

“Look at this guy,” said Ashley while watching the pharmacy surveince footage.

Several angles failed to capture the medicine that had appeared in J’s locker.

After a long time, Ashley finally spotted a blurry figure in a nearby camera.

“Many people entered and exited the pharmacy that day, but most didn’t head in this direction–only this guy did. Do you recognize them?”

Since taking over, Chris had reviewed all hospital personnel files and had a rough mental image of most people–especially those stationed in sensitive areas like the pharmacy, where personnel must not be sloppy.

He hadn’t expected an incident to happen despite his vignce.

“I think her name is Megan.”

The angle of the surveince only revealed a back view, but the ne on the woman’s neck looked familiar.

Chris got up to retrieve the personnel files, and sure enough, in Megan’s ID photo, he saw the same ne from the footage.

“I remember thinking the ne looked nice at the time–I even thought about getting one for Jessica,” he said, not expecting that this small detail would end up helping them.

Ashley leaned back, eyes sore from staring at the screen too long. He closed his eyes and raised a hand to block the light.

“Should we call her up for questioning?”

“She’s worked in the pharmacy for four years without any issues. I summon her now, it’ll only alert her And… this kind of footage isn’t solid evidence. Let’s wait a bit longer.”

Ashley, eyes still closed, said, “Didn’t you say you suspect Ms. Wilder’s father’s death might also be connected to the Summit Infirmary? Well, Megan wasn’t here back then.”

“Exactly. At most, Megan’s an aplice–not the mastermind. We still have to find the person from back then. So many years have passed, and I’m convinced that person still holds a high position within the Summit Infirmary.”

Ashley finally opened his eyes and looked at Chris.

“You, as the Honorary Chairman, hold a position second only to Ms. Wilder. Beyond that… there’s only the board members and senior executives. Those positions are usually earned with age–people who fit perfectly with your review standards.”

    “Let’s keep looking.”

While Jessica was on the business trip with Michael, he hadn’t brought anyone else—not even an assistant.

Jason, on the other hand, was apletely different story.

He brought his agent, assistant, and even a professional makeup artist.
